Loctite Lubricants Sealants Adhesives - LT37482

  • Sealant
  • Multi-Purpose Sealant
  • 1.22 oz
  • Loctite

This purple thread sealant is specially formulated not to contaminate fluids or gases when used to seal threaded components and pipe fittings on pressurized pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Prevents leakage of air, oil and automotive fluids.

Features:

  • Formulated especially for hydraulic and pneumatic systems - won't contaminate lines or fluids
  • Seals low- and high-pressure applications - prevents leakage of gases and fluids around threaded and pipe fittings
    • Works better than thread seal tape
  • Cures on oil-contaminated surfaces
  • Prevents treated parts from corroding
  • Allows for easy disassembly of cured parts with hand tools
  • Made in the USA

Specs:

  • Application: all sizes of threaded assemblies
  • Quantity: 1.22-fl oz bottle (36 mL)
  • Low-pressure (500 psi) cure: 10 minutes
  • Full cure (time required to reach full set): 24 hours
  • Maximum operating pressure: 10,000 psi

Applications: Brake, transmission cooler, fuel, hydraulic and PTO lines and assemblies.

The shaded areas in these diagrams illustrate where thread sealant is applied in a variety of assemblies:

Thread Sealant 545 contains no ingredients that can enter and harm systems. Applied as a liquid to the threads of nuts, bolts and mating surfaces of fittings before assembly, this specially formulated substance keeps parts sealed, even when vibration occurs and temperature changes. The sealant also prevents rust or other corrosion from forming. Nuts and bolts that aren't corroded last longer and can be taken apart more easily. Standard hand tools can break the seal of the sealant, allowing you to remove treated nuts and bolts, which then can be reused.

This thread sealant is anaerobic (hardens in the absence of air) and requires contact with an active metal to cure. Active metals (those that tarnish, corrode or rust) include brass, copper, bronze, iron, soft steel and nickel. If both parts to be joined are made of inactive materials, Loctite Klean 'N Prime primer must be applied to one of the surfaces for curing to occur. Inactive materials include plated parts, stainless steel, galvanized steel, magnetite steel, pure aluminum, titanium, magnesium, gold, silver, plastic, cadmium, Iconel, zinc, natural or chemical black oxide and anodized aluminum.

Klean 'N Prime can speed the cure rate of Thread Sealant 545. This is especially helpful when you are applying the sealant to any material, active or inactive, in colder temperatures (below 70 F).

Note: Thread Sealant PST Stick is not for exhaust sensors. An anti-seize compound is recommended for exhaust sensors. Thread Sealant PST Stick can corrode some synthetic rubber tubing.

  • Fixing Leaky Firestone Ride-Rite Air Bags On A 2006 Toyota Tundra
Seems like you have the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs # F2245. There are a couple things that could be causing the leak. Best case, is that the threaded NPT fittings are leaking. All you would need to do is take them out and apply more Loctite Thread Sealant # LT37482. If that doesn't solve your problem and/or you want to cover all your bases while you have it apart, I would recommend getting new lines and fittings # F2012. If none of this solves your problem then it's time to...

  • Should Threads of Aluminum Propane Regulator be Sealed with Tape or Sealant
Yes, you will want to use some sort of thread sealer like part # LT37482 or pipe tape like part # A05-0265 on the NPT fittings inside of the aluminum propane regulator. As a general rule, all NPT fittings should have some sort of thread sealer or pipe tape on them.

  • Installation Location of Engine Block Heater on 2016 Nissan NV2500 with the 5.6L V8
The Kat's Heaters Custom Engine Block Heater # KH11412 will install in the front right of your 2016 Nissan NV2500 with the 5.6L V8. I've attached a diagram to assist. You will also want to use a thread sealant like # LT37482 or # LT37615. It is not quite as simple as unscrewing the plug and screwing in the heater, but it is close. You will need to drain your cooling system first because the plug gets immersed in coolant. Other than that, it is basically unscrewing and then screwing...

  • Air Leaking from Fitting on Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs
The first thing you are going to want to do is to take a bottle of soapy water and spray down all of the lines, fittings, and airbags while the system is inflated. There should be bubbles forming where the air is escaping. If air is escaping out of the fitting on top of the airbags then you are going to want to remove it. Once it is removed you would then want to recut the end of the airline with a tubing cutter like part # AL10530. Once this is down you can put some thread sealer like...

  • How to Remove and Reinstall Push to Connect Air Fittings
First you will want to completely deflate the airbags. Then to remove the air line from a push to connect fitting like part # F3128-1 you first push the outer metal ring inward and then pull the air line out. You may also need to push in on the air line and then pull out all while holding the metal ring in. It may take a few tries but this is the correct method. Then in order to remove the fitting you will want to place an open end wrench on the hex nut directly above the threads (see photo)....

  • Troubleshooting Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 elbow leaking at swivel
It is not uncommon to have a leak at the swivel fitting on your Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Air Springs # AL57338. It usually has to do with the hose not being cut cleanly. I've attached the portion of the installation instructions that deals directly with fixing this leak. My recommendation is to use the Air Lift Air Hose Cutter # AL10530 to ensure a clean cut on the hose. If you need to remove the fitting to reseal it, I recommend the Loctite Thread Sealant 545 # LT37482.

  • Will a Torflex Lift Kit # K71-725-02 Work on an Aluminum Boat Trailer
There isn't a trailer type restriction for the Torflex Lift Kit # K71-725-02 but there is an axle restriction. To use this kit your axle would have to be a Dexter #12 Torflex axle. And it can't be used if the brackets the axle is attached to now are 3 inches tall. There isn't any specific galvanic corrosion isolator designed for this part but there are many ways you can combat this potential problem. The easiest is probably going to be to apply additional coats of paint so that the metals...

  • Diagnosing Air Leak At Elbow Fitting On Air Lift LoadLifter 5000
The elbow fitting is a common place for leaks with air suspension kits such as the Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Air Helper Springs - Rear Axle # AL57338 that you have. The most common culprit is an air line that is not cut completely flat and clean. I attached a section of the instructions that provide a few simple steps for diagnosing and fixing the leak. • Trouble Preventing Brass Brake Line Fittings From Leaking On a Trailer
The majority of our brake line fittings are made from brass which are a bit different than the steel brake line fittings you might be familiar with on a passenger vehicle. Generally speaking, the cause of these brass brake line fittings leaking is usually related to over-tightening as they are just not designed to be torqued to the same specification as the steel brake line fittings. I recommend you start by tightening the fittings by hand tight, then around 2-3 full rotations with a wrench....
