Video Transcript for Valterra PTFE Thread Seal Tape Review

Hi there, RV and trailer owners. Today, we're going to be taking a look at Valterra's Thread Tape. Thread tape is used to seal up any pipe fittings, and it's particularly used in your water applications inside your motor home. It can help seal up any of these pipe threads as you tighten them together, because it takes up the gaps that it has in between the imperfections of the metal. That will completely seal them up, so that way when you turn your water on, you have no drips or drops coming out.You will get a large roll of it here. It has about a half inch thick width to it and you get a little bit over 43 feet of tape on here.

And it's pretty easy to apply. You'll just want to simply pull some off and wrap it around your threads and then pull it tight. When wrapping it around the threads, you do want to try to wrap it around the direction that when you thread it on, it's going to be continually tightening the tape around it. Normally, if you're going to be tightening this way, clockwise like that, you'll want to take your tape and wrap it around clockwise, so when you break off that last little piece, it keeps turning it tighter on there. We recently replaced our tank water heater in this trailer here with a tankless unit and we had to add some fittings here for our pressure relief valve and all of these needed to be sealed up properly. We're going to make sure we go on like this, go around and you don't need a ton of thread tape on there.

A couple of reps like this is plenty. We'll just pull it tight, and then we can thread this on.And that completes our look at and Valterra's Thread Tape.

  • What Size Fittings Are On the Flow Max RV Kitchen Faucet Part # LC719324
The male fittings on the end of the Flow Max RV Kitchen Faucet part # LC719324 are 1/2" NPT. In order to seal these threads I recommend using the Valterra PTFE Thread Seal Tape part # A05-0265.

  • Derale Reducer Bushing Compatibility with Plastic Water Tubing and Compression Fitting
The Derale 1/2" Male x 3/8" Female Reducer Bushing # D98452 will allow you to use the fitting with thread seal tape # A05-0265 to help with the threading of the bushing as well as the compression fitting you pictured and referenced. The brass fitting will have absolutely no issues with 140 psi pressure you mentioned. This fitting is a short reach as the threading is only through part of the interior so minimal trimming if any will be required for your fit.

  • RV Drain Trap Replacement for Shower Drain with 2-1/2" Flange and 1-1/2" Pipe
The Camco RV Drain Trap # CAM37262 comes with a 1-3/4" threaded inlet, so in order to use this drain trap with your 1-1/2" shower drain you need to use pipe tape # A05-0265 to provide a secure connection.

  • Plug Needed for Water Lines On Outdoor Sink In Trailer
The Valterra Pipe Plug part # RF865 is designed for a 3/8" NPT Fitting. If this is what you have then it will work well just don't forget pipe tape part # A05-0265. Unfortunately, I don't know what size water lines are on any one specific trailer but all you would need to do is measure the fitting size. The female fitting should measure around 5/8" diameter for a 3/8" male fittings.

  • Compatibility of Locktite 569 on Portable Water System
The Loctite RTV 5699 High-Performance Silicone Gasket Maker - Grey - 2.7-Fl Oz Tube # LT37464 can be used to seal a portable water system. The only thing to consider is the use of the water. If it isn't for potable drinking water, you wouldn't have any issue with this gasket maker. There are number of Loctite options available for potable drinking water but unfortunately we do not carry any of those options. If you are using threaded connections, I recommend using the Valterra PTFE...

The Replacement Female Quick Disconnect for SMI Air Force One Supplemental Braking System # SM99613 that you referenced uses a thread sealer but does not use a thread locker. You could use the # A05-0265 but do not use the red Loctite you have as it's designed for permanent locking.

Yes, you will want to use some sort of thread sealer like part # LT37482 or pipe tape like part # A05-0265 on the NPT fittings inside of the aluminum propane regulator. As a general rule, all NPT fittings should have some sort of thread sealer or pipe tape on them.

  • Can Loctite Thread Sealant 545 be Used with Potable Water Systems
Loctite Thread Sealant 545 # LT37482 is not designed for potable water systems and should not be used. There are chemicals in it that can be harmful if ingested. If joining copper pipes I recommend using solder to join non-threaded pieces and thread seal tape such as # A05-0265 on the threads of threaded pieces. Plumbers dope can be used on the plastic PVC-like pipes; available at hardware stores. If the PVC pipes are not threaded you should use primer and the appropriate adhesive for joining...

  • How To Install Shut-Off Valve on Thetford Aqua-Magic II
I looked up the Thetford Aqua-Magic II and was able to find out it uses 1/2" NPT fittings therefore you can easily install a shut-off valve like the Valterra Single Hose Shut-Off Valve part # A01-0125VP directly behind the toilet with a couple adapters. These adapters can be obtained locally, you'll need one to go from a 1/2" NPT to 3/8" NPT and another to go from 3/8" NPT to 1/2" NPT. You'll also want to be sure to use the Valterra PTFE Thread Seal Tape part # A05-0265. We don't offer...

  • Check Valve for Water Heater with 1/2 Inch Male MPT Fittings
The best option we have for you is to use the Valterra Check Valve part # P23415LFVP and then go to a local hardware store to look for a 1/2" to 5/8" adapter as we do not carry a check valve with both 1/2" MPT and 5/8" MPT fittings. These are pretty common through so I don't think you will have any issue finding one. In order to join the fittings together you will also want to use the Valterra PTFE Thread Seal Tape part # A05-0265.

If you don't have any unused pre-drilled and threaded holes on your water tank you'd need to make your own by drilling a hole and running a tap through. These will then allow you to attach a hose via the barbed fittings with a hose clamp. The threaded side will require sealant like the Thread Tape part # A05-0265.
