Dual Folding Arms with Anti-Sway Cradles

Rola 4-bike Hanging-Style Rack Dual Arms

The Rola 4-bike rack has dual arms that provide excellent support for your bikes. They slope up to provide ground clearance for steep driveways and bumpy roads.

Rola 4-bike Hanging-Style Rack Hitch Switch LeverRola 4-bike Hanging-Style Rack Hitch Switch Lever

To fold the arms down, pull out the red quick-release pin at the top of the mast. This leaves a smaller footprint, so you can keep the rack on your vehicle to park in your garage. And when stored in this configuration, it doesn't take up as much space in your garage.

Rola 4-bike Hanging-Style Rack Anti-Sway Cradles

Anti-sway cradles hold your bikes firmly in place. Each set of cradles has two straps that secure your bike along the top tube and one that secures the seat post or downtube. This multi-point contact helps keep your bikes from rocking back and forth, reducing bike-to-bike contact. Raised ridges prevent your brake and shifter cables from getting pinched.

Easy Tilting for Cargo Area Access

Rola 4-bike Hanging-Style Rack Tilting

The rack tilts down without your bikes loaded. This means you won't have to remove the whole rack to access your cargo area for grocery runs and other errands.

Rola 4-bike Hanging-Style Rack Lower HitchSwitch Lever

To tilt the rack, pull out the tethered bail pin in the upper hole on the base of the rack and lower the mast. When you're ready to go, raise the mast, and reinsert the pin to secure it in place.

Anti-Rattle Hitch Pin

Rola hitch pin

The rack includes a threaded hitch pin that helps eliminate rattle in the hitch receiver during transport. To tighten the pin in your hitch, use a 1/2" wrench (not included). A clip is also included to keep the pin in place.

Security for Your Bikes

Rola cable lock

The included cable lock secures your bikes to the rack. It threads around your bikes' frames and inserts into the lock at the end of the right arm. The cable stores inside the mast when not in use. A hitch lock (sold separately) is available to help deter theft of the rack.

Available Adapter Bar

SportRack adapter bar

If you have a women's bike, kid's bike, or any other bike without a straight, horizontal top tube, you will need an adapter bar (sold separately) to properly mount your bike. The bar fits between the seat post and handlebar stem post of your bike to create a top tube so your bike hangs level on the rack.

Rola Bike Rack for 4 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Tilting - 59401

Average Customer Rating:  4.5 out of 5 stars   (76 Customer Reviews)

Decent 4-bike rack for the price. Stable side-to-side with the screw-in hitch pin (2 inch receiver version). Gets some fore-aft rocking over bumps at speed (inherent to the tilting design). Bikes need bungee cords to keep them from swinging (typical for this style of rack). I used this with two bikes, and really struggle to see how four full-size bikes could be added. Maybe if seats were removed?
I added bumpers and some padding for the vertical post, and will probably relocate the retainer pin lanyard so the rack can be completely collapsed for storage.
A few design improvements for 5 star rating would be: 1 - Add some bumpers for the fully lowered position, 2 -Add some padding on the vertical post for bike contact or accidental vehicle hatch lifting when in the raised position, 3 - Mount the retainer pin lanyard to one of the through-bolts or move the lanyard hole - collapsing this rack chews up the retaining lanyard.

etrailer.com service was great - well packaged, and quickly shipped!

Still very pleased with this product after a year of use. I found this bike rack also works great as a ski rack! The straps fit nicely around a pair of skis, and you dont have to put wet skis back in your vehicle!

by:

Excellent service and fast shipping by etrailer.
Bike rack itself was easy to put together and install. It came in with a few scratches. It works well with large bikes. Slight problems started with the smaller bikes. The rack's arms are wide enough to accommodate the bikes, but the slides are not designed for smaller frames. If you have smaller bikes you might have to purchase the bike frame adapter bar for each bike. It's not a huge problem for us since the kids are growing up fast and soon they will have to graduate to the large frame bikes. In the mean time I will have to use extra straps to hold them together.

by:

We have used this product on a Chevy Silverado and a 2021 Rav4, to transport 2 or 3 bikes on local trips, and on trips of over 500 miles out and back. The bikes have been well secured - never a problem with any of the straps that secure them to the rack. The rack is steel, very sturdy, but also a bit heavy and that could be a disadvantage for a woman. The product could be improved by providing a means of locking it to the receiver hitch. Overall we are very pleased with the product.

Item # e99047 is a 2 inch lock that will secure this rack to the hitch receiver.

Still working great! Using the bike rack at least 2 xs a month, easy to use.

by:

Excellent customer service and product is better than expected. minimal assembly and easy to use. My wife had a very difficult time with our previous bike rack but had no issues with this one on her first time out. Solid product and I look forward to getting a lot of use out of it. Thanks to the folks at etrailer.com for the free upgrade of expedited shipping.

Still works great. Thanks

by:

Great quality and very stable. My sons micro fits on it so I'm very happy. Also the customer service was excellent.

by:

Very sturdy rack. Nice that it has the tilt feature and also the built-in safety cable as an extra security measure. Hitch attachment fits well, and feels very secure

by:

Excellent product. Put a 16 inch, 24 inch and a 26 in bikes, all in one trip to Hilton Head. Safe and secure and I was moving 75-80 mph through the mountains and curves and it held strong, didn’t rock or move around and bikes and wheels were secure. Lock is awesome built in. Only complaint was it says it stores 4 bikes but that 4th bike would be too tight for my taste. I didn’t want to scratch the other 3, but it is possible. 5 stars all the way.

by:

Works great to haul typically 3 adult bikes.
I do not think we could fit 4 bikes on this.
Was easy to add the trailer hitch from etrailer & the bike trailer as needed onto our Honda pilot. Bike rack is very study.
Thank you!

I am more then pleased with etrailer’s product , speedy delivery and EXCELLENT customer service !! I decided to buy bikes for our family to get exercise during this Pandemic but my 2012 Honda does not have a hitch. I had first called our local Honda dealership to just ask if they had hitches and how much it would cost . With purchase and installation it was going to cost me over $800.00 ... and that is before even buying a bike rack !!!!!! I found etrailer online and decided it would be easiest to call the customer service because I honestly wasn’t even sure what type of hitch I would need . I quickly got through and spoke to Tara G . She was so kind and knowledgeable about exactly what I needed and after finding me a hitch for just $90.00 she asked if I needed a bike rack as well? I was able to Purchase both the hitch and the bike rack over the phone and it only cost me $249.00 !!! I will definitely be recommending etrailer to all my friends in the future ! Thank you etrailer and thank you Tara !!!!

by:

I'm really disappointed in this rack... the ability to angle the rack down so you can get into the trunk is nice, but the design in the rola is so very flimsy that the bikes bounce all over the place. I've used it maybe 3 times so far and this last time the screws on the sway cradles came apart on the road, so now I'm missing sway cradle straps for 3 of the 4 slots.

overall, it's a pretty flimsy rack. about the only thing it has going for it is the integrated bike lock, which is actually well designed. but I'm really wishing I had bought the thule. what a waste.

by:

VERY disappointed with ROLA TX-104. Poor strength. Top section broke at weld the second time used. Rack is rated at 100 lbs. had less than 60 lbs. loaded, but still failed.
VERY pleased with eTrailer, as they have been extremely helpful in standing behind what they sell.
I decided to upgrade to a Thule rack and avoid the headache I got from the ROLA. You should avoid the ROLA too!!!
Hope this helps-MD

by:

There was a lot of dust in the box and on the rack, along with some brown smudges that won't come off with a damp rag. Also in the the box was an uninstalled pop rivet and a hole where it should have gone. Not great quality control from the manufacturer.

Customer Service will reach out to you.

by:

Easy installation. Great value. Not as sturdy as the Yakima or Thule, but half the price. Only complaint so far is their use of a threaded bolt that ties the rack to the receiver. This precludes the use of my locking hitch pin and means that anyone with a wrench can take the entire rack -- bikes and all -- within a minute. So now I have to buy another pin lock that'll fit the hole of this bolt.

by:

This has been great for carrying bikes including tandems for the last year.
We put many miles on including multiple 10 hr plus trips. Everything is sturdy and still as good as new after all the travel and many times on and off the van.
It can be tough to tip down with two tandem bikes and a bike trailer on to open the van hatch but that is to be expected. I thought the price was very good for the strong build.

by:

Easy to use. A little heavy. That’s needed for four bikes.

by:

Easy to install. However, no instructions on how to use the locking mechanism or a key for the lock. Bikes on the outer edge tend to slide to the edge so I bungee them to insure they stay on. Bikes are very stable once you get them on. Needed to add a special bar for a woman’s style bike for easier attachment to the rack

by:

It is economical in terms of price and size. Easy to install and uninstall. Even though it says it can fit 4 bikes, I personally think 3 would be just right. It also lacks the flexibility of tilting the rack with the bikes mounted but given this is a low end model it is what it is.

by:

Well I was comparing 4-bike racks and found this Rola TX104. Made like the expensive ones but at a great price. Heavy duty steel with a nice powder coat. Includes bike lock and anti-sway hold downs. It's definitely heavy duty and handles the bikes easily. Everything about the product is well built and strong. Ordered on a Saturday received it by Thursday. Great service. I have always had great service from etrailer.
We use the bike rack for long trips with 4 bikes. It replaces a much cheaper Walmart rack that couldn't handle the job.

by:

Works great and I like the included cable lock!

Works great, everything is holding up very well.

by:

I like this bike rack, I’ve used it a few times and it does the job it’s intended to do. Installing and removing is easy. I use it casually I take the family to the park or beach and we want to take our bikes out, the lock feature is a lifesaver. Would definitely recommend

by:

Lots of features for the moneyThis is a sturdy rack and offers lots of extras that other brands don't include, such as the self-stowing locking cable and anti-sway loops. The folding mechanism works great, allowing me to access the cargo area on my 2005 Honda Odyssey. The retention straps are probably not as well designed as competitors like Thule but work fine. The rubber straps on the Rola are very stiff and consist of oblong holes that are stretched over retaining hooks. The straps can be difficult to remove off the retainer hooks if tightly pulled over the bike frame, and I think, from looking at the Thule flanged-headed pegs system at the bike shop, that the Thule is probably does not present this problem and is better designed--of course the Thule is more base money and then one has to buy the locking cables and such. Regardless, I would probably still buy this Rola rack again--very solid construction. If you are loading a bike on and off very often and/or daily, then it may be worth buying the Thule to save one's patience regarding the better retaining system. I've used this rack to tote a smaller 14" framed Giant Boulder bike and my 17.5" Trek 7100. Getting the Giant Boulder loaded is tougher when a bottle cage is attached but certainly doable.

by:

E-trailer was so professional and stood behind there product. I had a minor flaw and they shipped me another bike rack and did not have to.
Great customer service.

Thank you e-trailer and Cathy T

by:

Great bike rack strong and built well The attached retractable bike lock is a nice feature.

by:

Well put together, had some paint scuffs on main tube before it was ever removed out of the box(not etrailers fault).
Going on a 14 Jeep Wrangler JKU . If you have larger aftermarket wheels, you will need a hitch extender. Only other down side is if you have 4 bikes, weight is only 100lbs limit. Others are 120-140.

You can try loading your bikes so that the heaviest ones are nearest the hitch; this will help to reduce the pendulum effect - the tendency for side-to-side movement.
