Recommended Trailer Hitch And 4-Bike Carrier For 2015 Toyota RAV4

Hi, I have a 2015 Toyota Rav4 and I am looking for a 2inch hitch and a bike rack to carry up to 4 bikes. I was going to pick the etrailer #e98864, but unsure on the bike rack. I want something that tilts and folds. I had a previous car with a 2inch hitch and a 1 1/4inch bike rack with an adapter and the bike rack would bounce around when I hit a bump. I dont want a bike rack that will bounce around, I want something that wont move. I do want the bike rack to be affordable too. Thanks!

The etrailer hitch you referenced, part # e98864, would be a nice trailer hitch for your 2015 RAV4. This is a Class lll hitch and it has a 2-inch receiver opening.

For a bike carrier that has all the features you want I recommend the Rola TX-104, part # 59401. This fits a 2-inch receiver opening and has an anti-rattle hitch pin included. I have attached a link to an installation video for this bike carrier on a 2015 RAV4 you can check out. I also attached a link to a test course video. Although you will never eliminate all the movement of a bike rack when hitting bumps, the anti-rattle hitch pin does stop a lot of the bouncing you said you do not want. You can tilt this hitch when it is empty to give you rear cargo access.

If you are planning on carrying bikes with alternative frames like kids bikes or women's bikes I recommend using an adapter bar like part # 64005. This attaches between the seat post and the handlebar stem and allows the bike to be carried more level in the carrier while providing additional ground clearance.
