How to Reduce Motion of Rola TX-104 4-Bike Hitch-Mount Rack # 59401

Question:

We purchased a Rola TX w/Tilt and Security - Hitch Mount fits up to 4 bikes and have been very satisfied with it. However, it does have an issue in that it shifts from side to side left to right a lot this is not the front-to-back sway that the anti-sway straps prevent. If we tighten the bolts at the bottom to lessen the side-to-side movement, then we cant tilt the rack down. Any suggestions?

Thank you for your Rola bike rack purchase from etrailer.

There will always be some degree of random motion with any hitch mount bike rack, though some will be more stable than others. You can try loading your bikes so that the heaviest ones are nearest the hitch; this will help to reduce the pendulum effect - the tendency for side-to-side movement.

You may also want to try using some type of stabilizing strap. Curt offers their # 18050 but there are many types available including handy ratcheting straps like # EM05710 from Erickson. Many such items can be seen on the link provided.
