Today, we're going to be reviewing part number PS028720300. This is the Pro Series Round Goose Neck Coupler. It's going to be very strong and very durable, as well as easy to use. It's made from a stamp steel construction with a nice raw finish, and it's got the secure locking pin assembly that's going to make hooking up really, really simple. It's got the easy-to-grip handle, so it's very accessible from any position. It's got that high-profile design, making it even easier to use, even if you're wearing gloves or work gloves. It's also got an adjustable height setting.
It's going to have a range adjustment of 8 inches, and that's a vertical adjustment. It's going to include the set screw, that's going to be 3/4 inch diameter. This system is designed to fit a 2 and 5/16 inch ball. When it's fully retracted, it's going to give us a retracted height of 26 and 7/10 of an inch. The diameter of the outer tubing is going to measure 4 and 1/2 inches. The inner tubing's going to give us a diameter right at 4 inches.
The entire unit's going to give us a capacity of 25,000 pounds, so, again, very strong, very durable. Pretty easy to use. It's got the clip here on this side. That clip is attached with a nice little cable, that we don't ever have to worry about it getting lost or accidentally misplacing it or forgetting it. It's always going to stay close at hand. When it comes to actually coupling, you need to make sure that you block your trailer wheels and then you can align the hitch ball beneath the coupler.
You want to set the locking pin in the open position, so that means that we're wanting to move this to an open position, and then we want to rotate the plate into the open position as well. At this point, you can lower the trailer onto the hitch ball, and you want to visually make sure that the ball is fully seated. Then, you can slide the lock-in plate into the closed position, and then you can drop the lock-in pin in the closed position as well. That's going to fully close the coupler over the hitch ball. That's going to do it for our review of part number Ps0287820300. This is the Pro Series Round Goose Neck Coupler.

Very well made. No rust. All parts, few they were, were there. Welded nice. Ups was rough with the box but it had a tear where the base of the coupler sticks out. Might need a little wrapping with all the material they use to ship it.

I just received this goosneck hitch coupler in the mail. After opening the box it was everything that the description said. It seems to have good solid welds and the coupler seams so function smoothly. I will be installing it on my dump trailer that I'm building in the weeks to come. I do not see any reason thus far why this product should fail or give me problems. I compared it too a goosneck trailer that I purchased new and have used a lot over the years and it looks like a identical coupler. So far I would recommend this product if your building or repairing your goosneck trailer.

my goose neck trailer came from the factory with a fixed hitch. While this worked well for my older 2wd truck, not so much for the newer high ride 4wd trucks.
being a welder for well over 30 years the conversion of the new hitch was a snap.
Long story short, now the hitch is adjustable, the trailer levels out nicely, and pulls like it should.

- Adjustable Height Gooseneck Coupler Recommendation for an Older Ponderosa Horse TrailerActually you would want to go with a Pro Series Gooseneck Coupler # PS0287820300 instead. This is an adjustable gooseneck coupler that will give you 8 inches of adjustability. This coupler has the same diameter tube as what you have. You would just need to have the old one removed and this one welded in it's place. If in the shortest position of this coupler it would still be too tall in the front you could remove a portion off the top of the coupler so that it would be the correct height....

Based on that the only solution I can guarantee will work is a new setup that includes an inner and outer tube like the Pro Series gooseneck hitch part # PS0287820300. This will need to be welded in place of your current outer tube and will work great. It has a 25k capacity and uses a similar latch/coupler as what you currently have.
