Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

After a year of having this on my truck I can say that I wish I did it sooner! The installation is easy as can be. The hitch is super handy as both a tow point and also as a kind of skid plate/bumper. I have contacted multiple ecology blocks and other objects in my truck, the hitch is the first thing to touch so nothing on the truck gets damaged! This is a super strong, affordable, and versatile addition to any vehicle!

by:

VERY Easy install - not quite centered but that's no biggie - Used it already to fine tune the travel trailer into it's tight parking space. Also will be used for carhauler/utility trailer parking and canoe hauling and bike hauling and winch mount - Multi use deal! ; )

by:
2010 GMC Sierra

Product was as described and installation was easy. Had installed within 45 mins. Purchased because I ran out of room in my trailer and needed a little more space for seasonal equipment. Next step will be getting a winch for winter.

by:

This hitch was easy to install, it took me about 25 minutes to install it on my 2007 GMC Sierra Classic 3500. I’m looking forward to hauling my bikes up front instead of on the back of the camper.

by:

Great product and very easy to install.
Shipping was fast also
Makes a great way to haul bikes while pulling my camper

Great

by:

Easy install, rugged build quality, and nice coating. I'm excited to start using it. My only criticism is that not all trucks are alike. The instructions for locating the area in the plastic shroud to be removed could be revised. I cut out more material than I would have like, yet I followed the instructions very carefully.

by:

Works great easy to install and very useful, especially if you want to transport a dirt bike or two kids bikes with a back pack camper so you can still use access to your camper without blocking the rear door while you travel.Thanks.

Chevrolet Silverado 2500

The Draw-Tite hitch I ordered was a perfect fit for my Chevy 2500 HD. Installation was a snap taking about 25 min. Watching the installation video took all the guess work out of the project. I also ordered the
American flag receiver cover, and it looks great on the truck!

Nice of you to follow up Patrick. Still love my hitch! I also purchased a goal post rack to go with it. I use it to carry kayaks on the top of my truck when I pull my fifth wheel. I have received a lot of attention and questions about it since and have send people your way.

by:

I mounted this hitch on the front of my 2500 HD Chevy with the intent to haul a generator to use when pulling a travel trailer. The installation when well, and I am very satisfied with the product.

Although I dont use it often, it is very functional.

by:
2008 Chevrolet Silverado

I have an 08 duramax and it fit perfectly. The cutting on the front plastic was very minimal and easy. The video installation video was a great help.

by:

I was very disappointed trying to follow the installation instructions and videos you provided. If you compare the pictures of previous installs to my install, the hitch is actually much lower on my bumper in relation to where the factory tow hooks are. This is the reference point they use in their instructions to cut the notch into the bumper for the receiver to come through. Now my bumper has a nasty huge cutout that I didn’t even need to use.

I remounted the license plate holder there to cover the ugly hole. That’s where the hitch receiver was suppose to exit the bumper.

Very disappointed and waisted a lot of time trying to understand what I did wrong , but I can only guess you sent me a different hitch with the Draw-Tite label on it.

2007 Chevy Silverado 3500

by:

well built hitch was not a direct bolt on my truck had to remove brackets off the frame and drill holes in bottom of frame to attach hitch to truck will be using for winch average person would not be able to remove the brackets which were welded on at factory other than that should do what i want it to do

by:
2009 Chevrolet Silverado

This worked good on my 09 Chevy 3500HD. Since I have a truck camper, I carry our bikes on the front of the truck. The only down side of this is that the pin is behind the air dam. So you have to lie down under the truck to put the pin in.

by:

gave it the low review because of access to the pin which has to be accessed from behind the facia. Many bike racks, one of stated uses for the rack and why I wanted it, require a threaded special threaded pin that has to be installed with a ratchet wrench. Since it is up behind the fascia, access for a wrench is not possible. Quality, construction, paint are all a “5”. If the pin hole has been out where you can access it that would have been a “5” as well.

by:
2015 BMW X5

I have used my front hitch dozens of times this past year and it has paid for itself time and time again. Reaching behind the bumper to get the hitch pin is a bit of a pain, but well worth it. People ask me how I like it and I sing praises every time, just wish I had bought and installed one sooner.

Third purchase for new truck. These front end hitches make alot of work and play easier

by:
2009 Chevrolet Silverado

Extremely easy to install. Re-uses the bolts for the tow hooks and two new bolts thru existing holes. Took longer to layout cutting a hole for the receiver opening in the truck's plastic air dam than bolting up the hitch. Fit perfectly and very good quality. Tip: Make your hole in the air dam big enough to slide the receiver pin in the hitch. On a 2500 HD Silverado the gap between the plastic air dam and cross beam is not big enough to fit your hand thru.

by:

Well built product. Simple easy install. Mounted a 9k winch on this hitch and it saw solid at full load

Solid year down and its looking good. Has not succumb to the rust belt yet!

by:
2009 Chevrolet Silverado

I put this hitch on the front of our 2009 GMC Sierra. The plastic fascia is not as smooth as the Silverado but by marking with masking tape and cutting from both sides, I got the hole cut. After that it was easy lifting with a jack and bolting it on. The box came with some wear and the paint was chipped off in places but a rattle can took care of the exposed metal.

by:
2010 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SUPPORT!

Hitch
fit on my 2010 Chevy 2500 perfectly, absolutely no issues.

Installation less than 45 minutes, not including cutting the hole for the hitch. I took my time with that - probably 50 minutes of very careful measuring and cutting.

End result, very happy customer.

by:

Excellent quality, fast shipping and great customer service. The Draw-Tite 65050 is an excellent product. It is tough to find a front receiver Hitch that allows you to retain decent approach angle. My truck goes into some really rough back country elk hunting spots and I need every bit of ground clearance I can get. This is the only front receiver that allows stock clearance. I intend to use it to haul mountain bikes while my pop up camper is on. Great product, I highly recommend.

by:
2016 BMW X1

Thank you etrailer.com! My front-mount hitch came in just when you said it would be delivered and I installed it with basic tools - I didn't even have to ask my wife for help!!

by:

Perfect fit, I chose to bolt it up then trim. Turned out excellent. Bottom of hitch sticks out maybe 1/4 of an inch and top sit just in from flush. The mushroom end of the hitch is wider than the rest of the it so if you trim after bolting you can tuck your lower cuts behind. I reinstalled license plate cover until I get hitch plate holder. So no pics. Maybe when I get the plate holder.

Chevrolet Silverado 3500

This was my third order in 2 months from eTrailer with great service each time. I will definitely check with them first next time I need something they might have and would recommend them to others. This hitch was mounted on an '08 3500 and I was able to leave the stock license plate holder mounted. I'll remove the license plate for those times I need to use the hitch. Once mounted, the hitch is virtually invisible behind the front facia and does not cause any problems with clearance. Very satisfied with the product.

  • Front Mounted Receiver Hitch for 2007 Sierra Classic
Unfortunately, the frame with isn't the only consideration. According to Draw-Tite, the differences in the way the front bumper, fascia and grill are situated in regard to the front of the frame members on a 2007 Classic versus a 2007 New Body will prevent the # 65050 from being installed on a 2007 GMC Sierra Classic without extensive modification to the vehicle. I've provided a photo showing how the front clips are different on the 2 vehicles. For your 2007 Sierra Classic, I'd recommend...

Instead you'll need the Draw-Tite Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2" # 65050, which is confirmed to fit on the 2007 GMC Sierra 2500HD. I don't have an exact hitch height available for the Draw-Tite # 65050 front mounted receiver but I can confidently say that the hitch will not affect your ground clearance at the front of the vehicle. As you can see in the provided photo, the hitch will install behind the front bumper fascia/front air dam, unlike some other front receivers that sit under the fascia. The receiver tube will sit right in the center of the fascia, height-wise as shown. Therefore, the hitch won't have any...

  • Can Draw Tite Front Hitch for 2008 GMC Sierra be Used with 12,000 lb Rated Winch
The Draw Tite front hitch part # 65050 is a fit for your 2008 GMC Sierra 2500HD and has a line pull rating of 9,000 lbs. It would work great with the winch you have that has a 12k capacity pulling a trailer that weighs 9,000 lbs. Your winch would just be rated higher than needed which is a good thing as it won't be working too hard. I attached an install video for this front hitch for you to check out as well.

All of the available front mount hitches including # 65050 for your 2008 Chevy Silverado 2500 have a vertical load limit of 500 pounds. However, it is possible that since you will be pushing the trailer around the tongue weight could be lower if the front of the trailer was higher than the back or if you could move weight far enough back on the trailer to reduce the tongue weight. If you aren't pushing the trailer around very far or for very long then I wouldn't anticipate an issue.
