Hello everybody, this is Jeff with etrailer.com. Today we take a look at this 7-way round adapter for the Hopkins Tow Doctor trailer and test unit. Now this is for a quantity of 1 7-way round pin adapter. Now this adapter works with the Hopkins Tow Doctor trailer and test unit which is part number HM50928 and we do sell that test unit separately on our website. I did want to pop up an insert just to show you what that test unit looks like and where you would plug it in at. Basically, this adapter will allow one person to check the trailer wiring and functions are working correctly.
It plugs into the end of the test unit and then this end right here will plug into the 7-way round on your trailer. This does test all the trailer functions. The right turn, the left turn, the brake, the tail backup lights, electric brakes, and auxiliary power. The trailer lights will illuminate and the LED bulbs will light on the tester to show the function operation. What's also nice is for electric brakes the magnets are activated to determine correct operation, and on the tester it'll have a meter that you can have .
It'll give you amperage on the test unit to show the actual amperage draw. Now this is for a 7-way round pin and it's also available in other adapters to test a 4-way flat. That's part number HM4010509029. You can also test a 6-way round part number HM4010509030 and even a 7-way rv blade-style connector part number HM4010509031. All three of those adapters we also sell separately and they're usually listed on this product page as a related product.

Hopkins doesn't make a version of the 7-Pole, Round-Pin Adapter # HM50944 with a longer wire lead, but you can still build out your own using 25' of this Deka Jacketed 7-Way Wire # DK74FR (sold by the foot) and then Vehicle End # PK11720 and Trailer End # PK11702 connectors. I reached out to my contact at Hopkins who confirmed this for me.
