Installation
This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located in the rear cargo area. You will have to remove the rear threshold plate and felt trunk liner to access this harness.
Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed in the rear cargo area.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.
With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Hey everybody, Jared with etrailer.com. Today I want to take a look at the Tekonsha 4-pole T-One connector trailer wiring kit. Now, it's quickly and easily installed as a 4-pole trailer connector to your 2021 or newer Kia K5, all models sedan. The T-One connector plugs directly into your existing wiring and the powered ModuLite, which reduces strain on your wiring system and electrical system by connecting directly to your battery. It is constructed of a 16-gauge bonded wire. The T-One connectors require no cutting, splicing or taping of your vehicle wires.
This provides a four-way flat trailer connector to the back of your vehicle to power on your trailer signal lights. It is compatible with 5-pole, 6-pole or 7-pole adapters, and they're all sold separately. It is fairly simple to install. You locate the connection points near the rear cargo area. You plug in the T connectors and then you run the hot lead to the car battery.
I think it's important to take a look here at the nomenclature, what it looks like when it comes out of the package and then kind of show you the process of how it works. So, first of, we'll talk about the modulator itself. It's going to take the turn signal from the driver's side and the passenger side bring that into the module and then send it out for your 4-pole system. When they're engaged together obviously that's going to push on your brakes. You will engage both sides, send it to the module.
And again, that will also come out your 4-pole system here. It is connected via a power supply. This hot lead connects to the butt connector through this extension wire. Make sure that this extension wire when you route it, wherever you do under your vehicle or whatnot you do not have it in or near a hot substance nor will it be bending back and forth or near anything that's moving or keep the friction away which will keep this wire intact. You won't have any problems with your system.
That wire itself would actually connect to this wire through here through the fuse housing. You'll split that wire. Connect this, via a butt connector to that side of the wire. It will engage the fuse itself. And then the other wire that you cut off will connect to the battery terminal via this battery terminal connector. Back up here to the ModuLite. From here there is a grounding wire which connects to the tapped-in grounding screw and that'll make sure everything's good to go if there's an overload in the system. And all that is completed, all those signals and everything go through this ModuLite and definitely will help out with this 4-pole connector.
