Will the 5 pole Wiring Harness Fit on a 2004 VW Touareg V8 with No Electrical Problems
Question:
Of course VW service reps wont help one bit in this since I am not buying and getting raped by their cost of equipment. I have purchased the trailer hitch from you recently which went very smooth without incident. I have concerns inre to the computer systems in the SUV that are sensitive to any changes in the electrical system. Do you know of anything that I need to be careful of there and is the wiring harness with the above #119177KIT OK to use on this vehicle? Does the module that comes with this kit acceptable with purpose? Ty for your reply

The Universal Power Converter 5-Way Flat and Circuit Protection with Hardwire Kit and Tester, item # 119177KIT, is compatible with your Toureg. This wiring harness will install the same as the wiring harness that is recommended for your vehicle, item # 119176KIT, with the exception of the extra blue wire that is connected to the vehicle reverse light circuit for locking out surge brakes on boat trailers. The reverse light circuit is also circuit protected to protect your vehicles sensitive circuitry.
Instructions for the # 119177KIT are available online (see link) and you will just need to use the circuit tester included with the kit to locate the reverse light circuit behind one of the vehicle tail lights to splice the blue wire to.
As far as tips to be aware of when installing the harness, connect the ground wire first then when connecting the power wire do not install the fuse in the inline fuse holder until the rest of the installation is complete. This will help to avoid any unintended short circuit situations.
