Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the passenger's-side interior trim panel in your rear cargo area. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed in your rear cargo area.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Disappointed in the hot wire had to run. Curt makes a model that does not require this extra step and is cheaper than the harness I purchased. It works, but it's not the best choice for my 19' Odyssey.

Easy to install and great quality.

2022 Honda Odyssey

This sucks. Every other video installation instructions from Tekonsha I can find (same manufacturer as this one) doesn't require all these extra wires going to the battery at the front of the van. What a joke.

Older vehicles typically dont need the extra power feed to the battery, but that necessity is common with newer vehicles. Mainly as a cost saving measure, the vehicle manufacturers now use smaller gauge wiring in their taillight wiring harnesses which can no longer handle pulling the power through the taillight circuits for both the vehicle and trailer taillights. This is why the extra circuit needs to be ran to the vehicle battery. This setup also helps isolate the vehicles more sophisticated and much more expensive to repair wiring from any short circuits that might occur in the trailers wiring, which is a good thing.

I’m giving 5 stars because I ordered the wrong harness. I called and talked to Steve Kat, who took care of everything for me. The right harness is in the mail comings my way, and with a return authorization I just boxed up my return for shipping tomorrow.
Great service, and nice guy too.

by:

I ordered this wiring kit and they sent me a preopened box. I didn’t open it until after the return window and someone had cut a wire off. That’s how it came to me. Would probably say beware of this product.

by:

I love it!!! I was looking for a stock look and you guys NAILED IT! all that is visible is the receiver. everything else is neatly hidden under the bumper skin which cut nicely with my multi tool. For my wiring harness I tied into the fuse panel by the vacuum instead of running a wire to the battery. I did still use the supplied fuse, i just plugged into one of the unused constant power plugs. If I had to be picky I would request a better photo of the rear bumper or even better a template for cutting. that was the only part that had me sweating. Lift gate sensors are not blocked and still work perfect with no mods needed.

Honda Odyssey

This has served us well over several long trips with our Honda Odyssey. We use this primarily with a hitch mounted platform used to hold several hundred pounds of contents.

by:

Installation was a breeze. Chose to not cut the rubber bushing when sending the hot lead wire through the rear taillight assembly. It slide right through with the existing wiring for the light.

by:
2019 Honda Odyssey

This kit requires that you run a NEW 12v wire all the way from the engine compartment! I wish it said that in the title. I had to return it and buy the other kit that just plugs into the existing wire harness in the back. I don’t really know why they even make this version.

by:

Great price and delivery on the hitch and wiring harness. It was simple to install. Thanks to ETRAILER

by:

Worked great.
Thanks

by:

Quick to ship, Fit my vehicle perfectly....Installed it in under 2 hrs....light module was simple...
Saved over $400 compared to U-Haul and others.....Couldn't be happier

by:

Product installed per video, needed a floor jack and prop van up on some wood blocks to install. All went well, happy with purchase.

by:

Trailer hitch fit great, instructions and video were spot on. Electrical connection and instructions were also very good.

The product is outstanding! quality material. Super easy installation and great videos to assist with any tricky steps. Also some extra tips. Would definitely buy something here again!

2019 Honda Odyssey

Everything was easy to use. The only issue I had was the plate for the lag bolts wasn’t wide enough and the bolt was free spinning. I was able to use a pair of vise grips and open ended wrench to tighten it down. Other than that great prosuct.

Harness was not a plug and go as I expected. Fortunately Honda dealer did have a plug and go harness.

by:

Perfect connector for great price

by:

traded vehicle in not longvafter installation, never used to tow

  • Recommended Wiring Harness For 2018 Honda Odyssey
The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118753 is currently the only confirmed fit we have from any manufacturer. The power wire to the Modulite is a little inconvenient to run and I get that it is easier to get a harness that doesn't use it, however, it is a safer harness. Because it draws its power from the vehicle battery, it protects the factory wiring from overdraw preventing an overload to your electrical system. I've attached an article on routing...

  • Why Does The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118753 Connect To Battery On 2020 Honda Odyssey?
The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118753 is connected directly to the battery on your 2020 Honda Odyssey so that it does not cause any wiring issues. Tekonsha does not recommend using the 12 volt socket as it could overload the factory wiring and cause issues. The powered module gains its signal input from the factory tail light wiring. It then sends power from the battery to the trailer lights to prevent excess power draw on factory wiring. Since it only sends power when the vehicle lights...

  • Do Additional Fuses get Installed for a Trailer Wiring Harness for a 2018 Honda Odyssey
The only fuse that gets installed for trailer wiring harness # 118753 for the 2018 Honda Odyssey is the one included with the kit for the power wire. The only thing getting plugged in on the right (passenger's side) is the set of connectors for the harness. I have linked the manufacturers instructions for reference.

  • 2020 Honda Odyssey Difference Between Tekonsha 118781 and 118753 Wiring Harnesses
Both the # 118781 and the # 118753 are indeed confirmed to fit the 2018-2020 Honda Odyssey, both use T-connectors to plug into your tail light connectors, and both are rated at 5 amps for the stop/turn circuit and 7.5 amps for the tail light circuit. The main difference is that the # 118753 includes extra wire to run a power wire to the battery, whereas # 118781 comes with extra fuses which activate the "tow package" and power the harness through it. So, which one do you need? Well, you'll...

  • Trailer Wiring Harness Recommendation for 2019 Honda Odyssey
There was a big enough change between the 2017 and 2018 Honda Odysseys that Tekonsha and the other trailer wiring manufacturers had to come up with a new design. That means that the kit you have from your 2015 model would not fit and you'd need the part # 118753 for your 2019 Odyssey. I attached an install video for this kit for you to check out on a similar 2018 model as well.

  • Difference Between Tekonsha Trailer Wiring Harnesses that Fit 2019 Honda Odyssey
The big difference between the two Tekonsha trailer wiring harnesses that fit your 2019 Honda Odyssey is how they draw power to activate the trailer lights. The # 118753 has a wire that runs up to the vehicle battery which is used to power all of the trailer lights directly from the battery. This is a much safer setup but the install in more involved and it costs more. The part # 118781 installs much easier but it draws power for the trailer taillights through the wiring panel of the Odyssey....

  • Recommended Trailer Wiring Harness for 2020 Honda Odyssey
For Honda Odyssey models with the pins missing from the 10,11 and 12 fuse locations, you'll need to use the Tekonsha # 118753, as the fuse box won't supply the power needed to run the trailer lights if the # 118781 is used. Honestly, running the wire to the battery isn't too terribly difficult. You'll simply follow the brake lines up to the front as shown in the linked video.

  • What Is The Best Vehicle Wiring Harness For A 2022 Honda Odyssey?
For your 2022 Honda Odyssey the best vehicle wiring harness is the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118781. Upon installing and testing various brands of harnesses we have found the Tekonsha branded ones to hold up the best over time and be the most reliable which is why they have become a favorite of our installers. You're going to need a custom trailer hitch receiver and a custom wiring harness for starters. On your 2019 Honda Odyssey I recommend the etrailer.com hitch, part # 76170. I like how the receiver tube is all you see under the van's bumper and the cross tube is completely hidden. The wiring harness that fits is part # 118753. It's a 4-way connector and plugs right into the van's wiring behind a trim panel in the rear cargo area on the passenger side. I've linked the install details...

  • Identifying Circuits that Run to 2018 Honda Odyssey Trailer Wiring
The only way we could help you identify the functions of the wires that run to your Honda trailer wiring connector would be with a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 which you'd use to probe each of the wires while applying the different lighting functions to see what comes on and go from there.

  • Difference between Item # C56382 and Item # 118753 for a 2018 Honda Odyssey
The difference between the Curt # C56382 and the Tekonsha T-One # 118753 for your 2018 Honda Odyssey is that the Curt is for if the fuse locations actually have pins in them. The Tekonsha option is for if the fuse locations are lacking the pins to activate the tow wiring. The Tekonsha basically bypasses everything and pulls power straight from the battery via the black wire (which runs to your battery) while the Curt utilizes factory wiring on your vehicle.

  • Best Trailer Hitch with Most Ground Clearance for a 2019 Honda Odyssey
The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 76170 offers the most ground clearance for a 2019 Honda Odyssey so that is what I recommend using. It also has a hidden design which means only the receiver tube will be present. The best trailer wiring harness will then be the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 118753. If you don't already have a ball mount and hitch ball, the etrailer Ball Mount Kit part # 989900 is what I recommend.
