Today on our 2014 Ram 3500, we're going to be taking a look at and installing the curt 5th wheel gooseneck custom wiring harness with seven pole connector, part number C56070. Here's what our wiring harness is going to look like once it's installed in the truck. As you can see, it's going to provide us seven way power here in the bed of the truck so it's easier to use with your gooseneck or 5th wheel trailer. That way you don't have to take your wiring harness and drape it down over the tailgate of the truck but rather you can plug it in right here in the bed. The seven way comes with a nice spring-loaded lid that's going to help keep moisture out. It features seven feet of wire, so you'll have pretty good options as to where you want to mount your new seven way connector in the bed. It tees 00:00:44 directly into the factory seven way harness at the back of the truck.
What's really nice about this is it does cut down on our time and effort required in order to hook up your trailer, because then you can do it all in the bed instead of getting in the bed to get your trailer hooked up but then going outside of the bed to hook up the wiring. You can do it all right here in the bed. Now, let's go ahead and show you how to install it. First thing we'll need to do to begin our installation is we'll need to find a good spot that we want to mount our new wiring harness. Where I'm going to mount this one, it's going to be right up here just behind the wheel well, because this will give me a good access point. Not only that, it'll also keep it away from anything like the tow hook, anytime that may get used, so it won't get damaged. Before you begin the drilling, you will want to be sure that wherever you decide, that there's nothing behind there that may get damaged, like a wiring harness or anything like that.
Now we'll take the T connector for our in-bed wiring harness, and we'll be plugging it in and teeing 00:01:49 it in here at the factory seven way on the rear of the truck. So first thing we'll need to do is unplug our factory connector here by pressing down on that tab and popping that connector off of there. With our new one, we'll put a little bit of dielectric grease on our pins in there. If you need some of this, you can get this on our site, part number 11755. The reason I'm putting this dielectric grease on here is because this is going to help prevent moisture from getting in there and corroding those connections. So I'll put that onto the seven way, at the bumper of the truck.
You want to make sure that that clicks all the way down so you know it's locked in place. Then I'll do the same thing for the factory connector, I'll put a little bit of dielectric grease on that and then connect it to the other end of our T connector. Then we'll begin routing our wiring up towards the hole in the bed. The way I routed this was I kept it tucked up along the inside of the bumper here, ran it across those wires, up over the frame rail, tying it along the way with zip ties just to make sure any excess is tied up. Then up towards the hole that we drilled in the side of the bed, and then I pushed that connector through. Now inside the bed, we'll put some dielectric grease on that connector, then we'll plug it into the back of our new seven way.
Then we'll feed it back through, we'll use the self tapping screws that come with the kit and begin securing it. Now that we've got everything hooked up, we're going to go ahead and test it. You can do this by hooking it up to your trailer and it'll serve the same purpose. So first, let's check our clearance lights; left turn, right turn, brakes, then let's also check to see that our brake controller's working properly. Everything is working properly. That's going to complete our look at and installation of the curt 5th wheel gooseneck custom wiring harness with seven pole connector, part number C56070 on our 2014 Ram 3500.

Mount this 7-way, RV-style connector in your truck bed for quick, simple hookup of your 5th-wheel or gooseneck trailer. Custom harness plugs in-line with your existing factory wiring so that you can retain use of your vehicle's factory 7-pole.Connecting to the existing wire harness was straightforward and easy on the other-hand finding a place on the side wall wasn’t easy. I put the plug together and measured and could not find a place with enough space between the inner and outer sheet metal. Maybe there was but I didn’t want to chance it, did not want a hole I couldn’t use. i ended up putting it in the post behind the tail light. I used the round area in the tail light area as a guide (see pic). To get the wire up through from beneath the light I cut a small piece of metal to allow the wire access (see pic). I am very happy with the location where the plug will not be damaged.
I used this cable to replicate 7-pole to the bed of a Ram 2500.
I also have a 4-pole at the bumper and wanted to have all three locations 'hot'.
This cable does not "move" the functionality.
It REPLICATES it, while keeping the 4-pole functional.
7-pole at bumper or 7-pole in bed.
4 pole at bumper.
I used the 120v factory hole because this truck does not have an inverter, nor will I be adding one. The 5th wheel camper has that.
I did have to fabricate an 'adapter' to cover the factory mounting holes, but that was easy and is now a rubberized, waterproof mounting.
All good.
Thanks Paul!
2018 Ram 2500 w/6.5' bed
Quality seems good. Install easy. Works fine if you plan on putting the plug in the back of the bed. Will not reach to the front wheel wells though! Putting in an extension as this is for a slide-in camper.
This harness seemed to be of great quality however after installing and attempting to use for the first time I discovered that it disrupted the signal to my 7 way at the bumper.
Just what I needed. The harness that came with the truck developed a short I couldn’t track down to repair. I got the lovely ding and check trailer brake wiring every time i hit the brakes. That got annoying really quick. Replaced it with this one and it solved my issue. Seems like it’s quality built and will withstand a few Colorado winters. It’s only downside is it comes with like 6 small zip ties to install it. If you’re the least bit OCD and want a clean look grab a dozen large ones from an auto part store.
I bought the wiring harness to transfer my trailer electricity from back bumper to inside bed of my Sierra 1500. Everything went smooth and I loved drilling a two inch hole in the bed of my truck. Done in less than one hour.
etrailer was familiar with this product and they were very friendly and easy to deal with.
The trailer wiring harness worked great. No problem with installation.
Plug and play!! The hardest part was to decide exactly where I wanted to mount it in the box.
2022 ram 3500 long bed. Was perfect length if you install it on the rear driver side of bed. In the video i saw of someone installing it they cut the hole then shoved the double connector end of the harness down from the bed. I found it easier to fish a string down the hole and then tie the string to the clip part of the single side of the harness and pull it up. That plug has to go through the hole straight or else it gets caught up and having the string tied to the clip helps pull it up and through the hole straight.
excellent service, have bought from E-trailer several times, always good quality products and service
Was a 30 minute install on my Ram 2500. It took longer to raise/lower the spare than anything else. Do yourself a favor and get the shorter one. You don’t need 7’, and I have at least 2’ coiled up.
This order was for ITEM # C53CR which has the filler plate. The order somehow was changed or substituted for this part which works for the application but without the filler plate.
etrailer sent the filler plate separately and I performed the install which was fairly simple and with the plate installed looks completely like factory. I attached my camper to the bumper connector and all worked, I could not reach the bed connector due to cable length, this was set up for a new 5th Wheel we are purchasing. I am confident that is will work.
I used different wire ties, something a little more substantial than what was provided but that is my choice. Watch the install video, it is fairly straight forward, 30 minutes from start to finish for my install.
4 stars due to the confusion in the order but was eventually straightened away.
Install was very easy, wish it would come with some of that gel you’re suppose to put inside of it. Just needs a little and no need to buy a whole big tube of it. Haven’t used it yet but was everything I needed for my Fords new gooseneck. Didn’t want to plug it in at bottom of bottom of bumper

Great kit to add a trailer connector in the bed of your truck. Super easy to install, took 30 minutes start to finish.

Still works great to hook up my fifth wheel connector in the bed of the truck instead of having it hang over the tailgate.
Super easy to install. Lighting fast de livery.
Super fast install. Great product. I have a 21 Ram crew short bed and the 7’ is the way to go. 35 min install. Tested and works great. Instructions call for a 2-1/8 hole. I was able to use the 2” hole saw and remove and reinstall the grey plastic wire cover from the Y.
Excellent product, which was super easy to install using the videos from the e trailer website
Installation was very easy and straightforward. It took about 10 minutes; once the spare tire was out. The hardest part was taking out and putting back in, the spare tire. If you have a 5th gen Ram that didn’t come with a gooseneck plug, there should be a plastic cover where it would be. Pop that out and your hole for the wiring is already there. There will be four small squares in the corner. The plug that is mounted to the firewall has enough clearance, so you can mount it to the bed using the provided self-tapping screws.
I purchased this unit after reading the reviews. I received both the C56070 and a B&W OEM hitch within a few days of placing my order. Etrailers’s customer service is excellent! The installation of this wiring harness took about twenty minutes including cutting the hole for mounting. Everything but the hole saw was included in the package! I am very pleased with my purchase!
Be sure to watch their installation videos prior to purchasing, they give real insight into the process!
The plug in is located in the bottom left corner of the photo!
Great product! a 10 for sure.
The 7 foot cord was more than adequate. Good quality product. I installed on 2019 Ram 2500 Big Horn.
I will tell you dont even try the install without lowering the spare tire. Even if you are able to fish the wire over (like I did) you will not be able to make the connection to the existing 7 pinn on the bumper. the plug adapter is wired in such a way that you cannot get your hand and the wire in the right orientation. The install of the unit will be less than an hour and probably closer to 30 min.
One last tip, when reinstalling the spare be careful not to push the tire to far to the front there is a thin metal shroud that the tire will rub on and squeak over every little bump. test it before you are done, ask me how I know. LOL
This harness is excellent. It plugged right in and looks like it should last a while. It also included plenty of zip ties and the necessary mounting screws. The hardest part was mustering up the nerves to drill a 2-1/8” hole in the bed of your truck. After drilling the hole, I put touch up paint on the bare metal to prevent rust. I also put silicone sealant in the screw holes, after they were tapped, to seal the metal there too. Install was quick and easy with the right tools; just the hole saw and a drill driver with the appropriate socket for the mounting screws.
As usual the ordering at etrailer.com was fast and easy. Shipment was fast and delivered on time. The 7way extension for gooseneck was as advertised. The toughest part of installation was feeding the end of the wiring harness through the post channel. Had one of these on my previous truck and missed it on my new truck. I recommend this product and etrailer.com

very easy to intall.the box it came in i was wondering if it was going to work the box was torn open
This wiring harness worked and installed just like y’all said it would. It is great. The only thing I would have liked was ETRAILER to offer a plug that is compatible with the pre-drilled holes in newer trucks. The plug this harness came with left an empty space above the plug. I didn’t want to drill more holes in my truck bed so I had to find a compatible plug
