Installation

This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the rear bumper, on the passenger's side.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Tail Light Converter

A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

Really glad I came across the eTrailer site on the web-- installing this item myself saved a bunch of money over having a dealer do it. The connectors fit perfectly into the existing wiring harness and the whole installation took about 10 minutes. Now my trailer lights work perfectly. Very pleased.

Installed this harness in my 1995 Nissan Pickup (XE-V6 4x4, D21 Hardbody) and it works like an absolute charm. I purchased the harness to replace the one I installed in 2004, of another brand, that since failed. The nicest thing about this harness is that it piggybacks into the Y-junction for the rear lights (under the passenger side of the truck near chassis-end), and the outlet is a standard 4-prong flat trailer plug. This adapter is a splice-free, plug-and-play install. I paired it with a Curt 57405 License Plate Light Plug Connector, which all plays very nicely together on this old pickup.

This product arrived just as described, fit like a glove and functioned perfectly. E-trailer is my go-to for all my trailer and lighting needs as their prices are great, items are detailed well and customer service is top-notch. Highly recommend.

by:
1994 Nissan Pickup

item is well made and was easy to install. You will need extra tie wraps to make a clean installation so extra wire doesn't hang down. After installation I plugged my utility trailer in and all lighting worked perfect.

by:

Plug and play. I needed to install a 4 pin plug without wanting to splice cut and splice wires. Could not have been any easier to install. One year from installation and no issues. Thanks !

by:

Excellent product. It is plug and play. Simple to find correct plug and install. All trailer lights work as they're supposed to.

by:

Perfect fit looks factory and since it plugs into harness there is no splicing to corode or loosen over time. Very happy with this product.

by:

Perfect fit thank you

Great customer service

This is my second order with etrailer and again I am totally satisfied and impressed with the customer service and quality. Thanks!!!

  • Wiring a Tekonsha Voyager Brake Controller in 90s 4x4 Nissan D21 Truck
We can definitely help you get a Tekonsha Voyager # 39510 wired into your truck. With that being said, installing the # 39510 will require a few things to get up and running. I wasn't sure if you had an existing 4 Flat or not, so I will be starting from scratch. If you do already have the 4 Flat installed, you can skip ahead a bit. I do have to mention that I included videos for all these products, but they will just be examples as they will not be for your vehicle. So lets start with...

  • Availability of a Trailer Wiring Harness To Fit A 1986 Nissan D21 Hardbody Truck
If you have the mid-year 1986.5 Nissan Hardbody that has the two large headlights rather than the four smaller lights on the older model, you can use the Hopkins Plug-in Simple Wiring Harness, part # HM43505, to install a 4-Way at the rear of your vehicle. The # HM43505 wiring harness will plug into the back of your vehicle's taillights. I am including a link to the installation instructions on the # HM43505 wiring harness. If your vehicle is not the 1986.5 or newer model, you will need...

  • Parts Needed to Wire Lighting Functions When Flat Towing a 1997 Nissan Pickup Truck
The Hopkins Vehicle Wiring Harness, # HM43505, is for the Nissan if it were towing a trailer and needed to power the trailer lights. Instead, there are a couple of different options for when you are towing the Nissan and need lights. Since you mentioned that you wanted to power the Nissan lights, you will want to use a diode kit, # RM-154. Installing this kit will put the turn signals and brake lights on the same bulb and the running lights will be on a separate bulb. If you want the turn...

  • No Brake Light Function from Hopkins Tail Light Converter Kit HM48895
The Hopkins 4-pole wiring harness made for your 1996 Nissan Pickup is kit # HM43505 which appears on the linked page along with similar item # C55353 from Curt. All of these wiring kits use custom-fit plugs for simple installation at the truck's taillight connectors. No splicing is required for these custom kits. The Hopkins hardwired harness # HM48895 is made for newer vehicles that use LED lights. This item has a red wire that splices to a vehicle's brake light wire and these signals...

The Hopkins Vehicle Wiring Harness # HM43505 that you referenced is a confirmed fit for your 1995 Nissan Pickup and will work great to power trailer taillights that are either LED or incandescent.

  • Towing Capacity and Parts Needed to Tow a Trailer with a 1996 Nissan Pickup XE
In order to tow a trailer with your 1996 Nissan Pickup XE, you will need a trailer hitch, trailer wiring harness, ball mount, and a hitch ball. For a trailer hitch I recommend the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 75186 which is a Class III hitch with a 2" receiver tube opening. This is also the most cost effective hitch we have confirmed to fit your truck. For a trailer wiring harness, theHopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector...

  • Left Turn Signal Causes all Trailer Lights to Flash and Right Turn Signal Does Nothing
If you have the Hopkins Wiring Harness # HM43505 installed on your 1997 Nissan pickup you will want to check the 4-flat connector with a circuit tester # PTW2993 and make sure that the wiring on the vehicle is correct and that you have a good ground. It sounds like a ground problem on the trailer is what is causing your lighting problem. You will want to check that the white ground wire on the trailers 4-way is properly grounded to a good, clean area of bare metal on the frame. You will...

  • Troubleshooting Right Brake Light Not Functioning on a Trailer when Tail Lights are On
If I am understanding you correctly it sounds like when you test your trailer with a 12 volt power source all of the tail light functions work correctly, but then when you connect the trailer to your tow vehicle is when you see problems. If this is the case then it sounds like the problem is on the vehicle side of the wiring and the trailer is good. You could further confirm this if you wanted by trying a different tow vehicle to see if the problem persists or goes away. One thing you...

  • Will a T-One Harness with Modulite On a 1995 Nissan Pickup Work With LED Trailer Lights
You would need to use part # HM43505 to wire your 1995 Nissan pickup for towing. It includes the necessary taillight converter to make your trailer lights work correctly. You would not need to purchase any other type of wiring, unless you needed to adapt the 4-Way plug to a 5, 6, or 7-Way plug. This part will not cause problems with LED trailer lights. Please note, that it is not suggested to mix LED and incandescent lights on the trailer.

  • Recommended Parts Needed To Install 7-Way Trailer Harness On 1993 Nissan Pickup
If you are replacing the White ground wire on your 7-way trailer connector you can use 12 gauge wire like part # 12-1-1. This is Black wire but will work for replacing the White wire you said you have. For your 1993 Nissan pickup truck I recommend first installing a 4-way trailer connector like part # HM43505. This is a simple installation. You just plug the harness into the truck wiring located behind the driver and passenger tail lights. I have attached a drawing that shows how this...

  • Submersible Trailer Tail Light Kit TL29BK Does Not Need a Turn Signal Adapter
You will not need an electronic turn signal adapter for the light kit. The wiring harness for your 1989 Nissan Pickup, part # HM43505, connects both the tail lights and turn signals. The wiring harness will then plug right into # TL29BK installed on your trailer and power the trailer lights properly.

  • Trailer Wiring Recommendation for 1997 Nissan Pickup
With a 4-way flat trailer wiring harness like the # HM43505 which is a fit for your 1997 Nissan Pickup the only functions you get are the turn signals/stop lights and running light circuit. If there's an additional circuit needed like maybe a 12 volt power circuit you'll need the 4-way to 7-way adapter part # 37185. You'll then need to connect the black wire of this to the positive battery terminal through a breaker like part # 9510.
