Wiring a Tekonsha Voyager Brake Controller in 90s 4x4 Nissan D21 Truck

Need some help wiring a Tekonsha Voyager into my 1990 D21, I dont have access to a harness adapter and the brake signal gets released at the pedal is depressed. Any help would be nice

We can definitely help you get a Tekonsha Voyager # 39510 wired into your truck. With that being said, installing the # 39510 will require a few things to get up and running. I wasn't sure if you had an existing 4 Flat or not, so I will be starting from scratch. If you do already have the 4 Flat installed, you can skip ahead a bit. I do have to mention that I included videos for all these products, but they will just be examples as they will not be for your vehicle.

So lets start with wiring. As previously mentioned, you will need to have a 4 Flat on the vehicle to upgrade to a 7 Way, so a quick and easy one will be the Hopkins # HM43505. This is a plug and play harness making it quick and easy to get attached. From here, our Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7 will piggyback off the 4 Flat and will get you up to the needed 7 Way. This will also include all the wiring, circuit breakers, and brackets needed to get a controller up and running.

Once all the wires are run, you will need to connect the Brake Control Plug-In Harness for Tekonsha # 20127. This will need to be hardwired into the wires you just ran but will plug directly into the back of the Voyager brake controller # 39510. The red wire will also need to be connected to the brake switch. You will need to test to find the which only has power when the brake pedal is pressed. If you having trouble finding this wire, you can wire this directly to one of the brake light wires going directly to the tail lights. However, the blinkers and brake lights must be separate and cannot be using the same wire.

I included a diagram of how everything will need to be wired, but once all this is complete, you will be good to go.
