Video Transcript for Curt Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring - Trailer Hitch Wiring - C56110 Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at part number C56110, this is your replacement OEM wiring harness. This product is going to fit certain years of the Ford F150 and the E series vehicles. It's going to supply your 4 way flat plug at the back of the vehicle. Now, this is designed to be an exact replacement for a damaged, or needing to replace OEM wiring harness. Here on the 4 way flat, it's going to come with the protective cap, that way you can protect your connection points when the connector is not being used. Just goes over that area there, and then comes over the connectors.

It's also going to come with your detailed instructions, it's going to come with your cable ties to secure any excess or lose wires that you may have, and it's going to come with self taping screw to make a good ground connection right here with the ring terminal, and white wire. Very easy installation, you do not have to worry about cutting or splicing any of your wires. All you have to do is locate the OEM trailer wiring harness connector on top of the spare tire support, it's usually located on the driver side, it favors the driver side. You're going to insert the new connector. The connector should match up perfectly, make sure it's fully inserted, it's going to lock and secure into place for a nice, tight, secure connection. Then you're going to need to make a good ground connection using an existing screw with the nut, or you can use the supplied self taping screw.

Place that right here through the ring terminal that's attached to our white wire, which is our ground wire. Once you have that connected you can then route the 4 way back to the rear of the vehicle, and then you can secure it in a convenient, out of the way location, near the hitch. Again, detailed instructions, these are going to have pictures that are going to help you through the installation process, very detailed. Once you have that done you can go ahead and use some of the cable ties to secure the wiring, keeping it up and out of the way. That's going to do it for today's look at part number C56110.

This harness for my Ford F-150 was a perfect fit. When I bought my truck it had a hitch but no light harness and everywhere local wanted $50+ dollars. This was an excellent price and so easy to install. Took me a few minutes. All you need is a power screw driver to screw the ground wire down and plug in the harness and that’s it. Definitely recommend this to anyone!

I can not be happier with the service and product. I received the Draw Tite Class III trailer hitch on time as expected. From start to finish and by myself, it took me exactly 15 minutes to install. I did not need to lower spare tire and it looks clean and neat on the truck. It took me longer to open the cardboard box. Thank you for your great service and follow up and I will highly recommend you in the future.

I was told that I had to go thru Ford to get the part I needed and it was $65. I got the part thru etrailer for a fraction of the price. It was delivered very quickly and was exactly what I needed. Thank you etrailer!!!!

  • Mounting Panel To Install Redarc Tow Pro Elite on 2018 Ford F-150
To install the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller part # RED44FR in the 2018 Ford F-150 I recommend the Mounting Panel for Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller Control Knob part # 331-TPSI-001. This is a universal mounting panel, Redarc does not make vehicle specific mounting panels. If your Ford has a factory towing package, I recommend to use adapter part # 331-TPH-007 to install the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite. If your truck does not have a factory tow package you can use...

  • Wiring Harness For 2020 Ford F-150 Without Tow Package
Where to start with your wiring harness depends on what available connectors you have under the bumper of your 2020 Ford F-150 and also what trailer connector you're looking to add on your truck. If your truck already has the square shaped connector, #C56110 will add a 4-way connector for your trailer. If you have a square shaped connector on your truck and want to add a 7-way connector for your trailer, the # ETBC7 is what you need. If you instead have a round shaped connector on your...

  • Trailer Wiring Harness Recommendation for a 2013 Ford Edge
It would appear as if the Replacement OEM Wiring Harness part # C56110 that you referenced would work on your 2013 Ford Edge since you have what looks like the correct port for it. By the way, thanks for the picture. What you can do to verify that the plug is active is use a circuit tester like our part # PTW2993 and test the different pins you see for voltage when the brakes/blinkers/running lights are on. If the pins carry voltage with the use of your taillight functions then the # C56110...

  • How To Install a 7-Way and Brake Controller on a 2012 Ford F-150 with No Trailer Connector
In order to install a 7-way trailer connector and brake controller on a 2012 Ford F-150 you will first want to start with a 4-way trailer connector, the Replacement OEM Wiring Harness for Ford F-150 part # C56110 which is plug and play. Once we have the 4-way trailer connector installed we can then convert this to a 7-way with the 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat Adapter part # ETBC7. The 12 volt power and brake output wires should be tapped off near the spare tire somewhere but if not this kit...

  • How to Install a 7-Way Trailer Connector On a 2012 Ford F-150
I do have a way for you to install a 7-way trailer connector on your 2012 Ford F-150 but the plug in the photo you attached does not have all of the circuits needed for a 7-way trailer connector so there is not one that plugs directly into this. Instead, you would first need to install a 4-way trailer connector like the Replacement OEM Wiring Harness part # C56110 which does use that plug and then adapt this 4-way into a 7-way using the 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat Adapter part # ETBC7. This kit has all the parts needed to upgrade the 4-pole setup to a fully functioning 7-way. You will retain your current 4-pole and plug it in to the included 7-way adapter in the kit, then make a few more wiring connections for the...

  • How to Add Second 4-Pole Trailer Connector to 2015 Ford F-150
If you want to add a separate 4-pole connector to your F-150 to power the lights in your tool box you can use part # 118384. This will simply plug in behind your existing trailer connector, going inline with it. Your existing 4-pole/7-way will remain active but you'll then have a second separate 4-pole for connection to the tool box lighting. If your tool box uses different wiring/connectors than a standard 4-pole, please let me know. You'll want to ensure the total load from all lights...

  • Wiring Harness and Ball Mount Recommendation for a 2018 Ford F-150
The Curt Trailer Hitch # C86HR is an excellent choice for your 2018 Ford F-150. Then for wiring you can either install the Curt # C56110 if you have the rectangular OEM plug or the Curt # C55774 if you have the round OEM plug. Both of these options give you a 4-Way flat connector that will match up with your small utility trailer. Since pickups can be used for a variety of towing applications I highly recommend installing the B&W Tow & Stow 3-Ball Mount # BWTS10049B. This comes with the...

It has an extremely strong rating of 1000 lbs tongue weight and 10,000 lbs towing, which will exceed your vehicle capacity. • Will TowReady 4-Pole Trailer Adapter for Trucks w/ Factory 7 Way, Part # 118384, Work on 2010 F-150
The TowReady 4-Pole Trailer Adapter for Trucks w/ Factory 7 Way, Part # 118384, is an adapter that is designed to provide a 4-pole trailer connector on vehicles that have a factory 7-way. This Y-shape harness plugs into the existing 7-way and provides both a 7-way connector and a 4-way. This enables you to add the 4-way connector without losing the 7-way, giving your F-150 the ability to tow trailers with either type of connector.
