Recommended 7way Trailer Plug for a 2014 Ford F-150 That is Prewired for a 4way
Question:
I have a 2014 Ford F150 with towing package. The wiring has a pig tail plugged into it like is like Part Number Code: C56110. I want to change it to a seven pin. I ordered what I thought would work but what I ordered was a round connector. I am unable to find a 7 pin pig tail or the connector. I might be able to use C56110 by splicing it into the product that I have already purchased. The problem that I see is that I will need additional pins to attach to the end of the wires and plug into the C56110. This would convert it from a 4 pin to a seven pin. But I don’t know where to find the pins. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I can help you convert your 4way to a 7way on your 2014 Ford F-150.
Since your vehicle is equipped with a factory 4way plug you will first need the Curt harness # C56110. To get a 7way for your trailer needs I recommend an adapter like the # ETBC7. This will allow the 4 way to plug into the adapter then you will need to run a few more wires to to gain the other functions of the 7way.
It may be possible to use your current 7way if you snip off the round connector and use butt connectors like # DW05745-5 to wire it up by function (see article) but you will still need the Curt 4way harness # C56110 to adapt from the plug on your truck. A circuit tester like # PTW2993 will also come in handy, but if you get the # ETBC7 there is one included.
I have attached an image of how the 7way will be wired to the vehicle, an installation video of the # ETBC7 on a 2013, and a Help Article to better help you do this.
