Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. And today we're gonna take a look at Coghlan's 6-function whistle. With this little multifunctional device, you can safely navigate the outdoors. This little whistle is packed with features. It also functions as a thermometer, a magnifier, a compass, a signal mirror and an LED light. Let's take a look at each of these functions.

First, let's begin with the thermometer. The thermometer here on the back is going to accurately tell you the temperature in Fahrenheit or Celsius. And I was taking a look at the thermometer and it's relatively accurate for the temperature inside the studio here, but keep in mind if you have this in your hand for any length of time, the warmth from your hand is going to affect the readings of that thermometer. So, just keep that in mind that it's going to also register the warmth from your hands and affect that temperature. The compass on the front is great for reading the map or getting your bearings.

And I compare this with the compass on my smartphone and it seems pretty accurate. You hold it like this, and it seems like it's gonna give you some pretty accurate reading. So, I think that's gonna be a reliable compass. And then there is a magnifier that you just pull out here from either side. And that magnifier is gonna be useful for reading maps or viewing other items in detail, does a pretty good job.

And then the next function here, I'm gonna go ahead and just pull it out from this side, is a signal mirror. And to be honest, I'm not real sure how well this would work as a signal mirror, but it is a reflective surface. So, you could probably use it for that as long as you have enough light, but that is a feature that is also included in this device. Then there is an LED light that is probably only bright enough to maybe read a map or see something directly in front of you. Let me go ahead and turn my studio lights off real quick.

And it's relatively bright, it doesn't cast like a really wide light. And my camera's having a little bit of problems focusing here. But it kind of reminds me of a light that you would use maybe to find the lock on your door of your car or something like that. Just a little light, so it works and it's functional. So, that is included in this. And then I guess you could say the star of the show is this whistle, it's relatively loud. Let me give it a test here for you real quick. It's pretty high pitched and shrill but it is loud. And I think it would be able to be, especially if you we're outdoors, it would be heard for quite some distance. And then there's also this clip that you can use to attach to a lanyard, a zipper, a belt, a backpack or other items for easy access. And that clip is pretty stiff. So, I think once you get this on like a belt loop or something like that, I don't think that's gonna slip off very easily. So, it's got its own little lanyard here. So, just a great way to use this for easy access when you're out and about. Three batteries are included, they are SR1121 batteries. So, when the batteries on this LED light quit working, they can be easily replaced. And this is a light gray color. And just to give you some overall measurements, let me line my ruler up here for you. We're gonna be sitting right at about 3 and 1/8 inches long. And looking at the width, I'm gonna be measuring from the widest point here. We're sitting pretty close to about an an inch and a quarter right there at the widest point. Then, in regards to the thickness, the thickest point here, if you're counting the button for this light and the compass as it kind of sticks out just a little bit. We're probably sitting right at about an inch thick. So, that kind of gives you an idea of the size, this little device. Now, this little whistle is packed with features.
