Surge-type actuator features a corrosion-resistant composite master cylinder and a primed finish. Adjustable down channel lets you mount different coupler attachments (sold separately) in 1 of 3 positions. Weld-on application.

Specs:
Note: Because this actuator does not include a reverse lockout, it is recommended that you equip your trailer with free-backing brakes so that you can drive in reverse without the actuator triggering your trailer's brakes.
When you apply the brakes in your tow vehicle, deceleration occurs and momentum pushes your trailer toward the rear of your vehicle. With surge brake systems, the hydraulic actuator is triggered as your trailer moves forward, once your tow vehicle starts to slow down. When this happens, the actuator contracts, applying force to its master cylinder. This in turn supplies the necessary hydraulic pressure to engage your trailer's brakes.
Adjustable Channel Design
The adjustable channel on this trailer brake actuator allows for ultimate versatility. Mount almost any type of coupler (sold separately) - from a standard ball coupler to a lunette ring or clevis attachment - to fit your specific application. In addition, the 3 mounting positions on the channel let you adjust the height of the coupler. Just place the coupler so that it matches the height of the ball mount or other hitch attachment on your tow vehicle and you will be able to tow your trailer levelly.
This actuator is great for tall trailers. This is because the adjustable channel is positioned so that the mounted coupler can sit below the actuator tube, allowing for a greater drop than with a standard center-mounted channel. As a result, you can line up your tall trailer with your tow vehicle's hitch for a level setup.

Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the Demco eight-inch adjustable channel down hydraulic drum brake actuator with a 12,500 pound gross towing weight capacity and a primed finish. Now this hydraulic actuator will activate your trailer's brakes when your tow vehicle slows or stops. Basically what happens is when you apply the brakes in the tow vehicle, deceleration occurs and the momentum will push your trailer toward the rear of your vehicle. And with a surge brake system the actuator is triggered as your trailer moves forward once your tow vehicle starts to slow down.
And when this happens, the inner slide portion of this actuator will contract, applies force to the master cylinder in the back here, and this in turn supplies the necessary hydraulic pressure to engage your trailer's brakes and stop the trailer. This one here uses an acetal copolymer lining between the inner slide tube and the outer case. Provides a nice smooth operation as that actuator telescopes in and out. This one has an adjustable channel. You can see it has three different positions for mounting your coupler.
Now the coupler is not included. We do sell those separate at our website. And if you notice, we mentioned this one is a channel-down design, so it allows for a greater drop. Works great on tall trailers. The channel height on this is gonna be right at eight inches.
The width, which will be measured inside the inside, right at three inches. This is a heavy duty steel construction. Has a nice primed finish to it. The master cylinder in the back here we mentioned. It is a composite master cylinder, which is durable and efficient.
It's a glass-reinforced nylon construction, which will resist rust and corrosion. And it does have a large reservoir, which will provide increased capacity for the brake fluid. Up at the top right here where you put your fluid in you can see it uses an automotive-style diaphragm cap creates a completely enclosed system. Helps prevent contamination of your brake fluid. Right here it does include the breakaway cable with the hook on it. Now the breakaway cable is required by law because it will prevent a trailer runaway situation. So basically when you hook your trailer up to your tow vehicle you'll take this breakaway cable with the hook and the keeper on it and hook this to your tow vehicle also. And then what would happen if by chance this would come disconnected from your tow vehicle, it would pull on this cable, which would activate that lever, which would then supply the necessary pressure in the master cylinder to engage the trailer brakes and stop that trailer in a runaway situation. So, as we mentioned, this is included and it is required by law. This is a weld-on installation. It mounts to a straight three-inch wide trailer tongue. It is made in the USA. Application: This is for trailers with hydraulic drum brakes. Gross towing weight capacity is 12,500 pounds. Maximum tongue weight, 1,250 pounds. This does go by the model number DA10. And one last note I do wanna mention is because this actuator does not have a reverse lockout solenoid on it, it is recommended that you equip the trailer with either the reverse lockout solenoid that would screw right into the master cylinder here or to have free backing brakes on your trailer so that you can drive in reverse without the actuator triggering your trailer's brakes. But that should do it for the review on this Demco eight-inch adjustable channel-down hydraulic drum brake actuator with the 12,500 pound gross towing weight capacity.

This was a exact replacement from a worn out one I have on my 3-ton dump trailer . No problems at this point . Your directions on how to install was very clear in how to reinstall in welding & connections for proper brake slowing .
