Video Transcript for CIPA Ellipse Rearview Boat Mirror Review

What's up, everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna be checking out this Rearview Boat Mirror from CIPA. It's gonna clamp on to your frame, your windshield, just like this. And it's gonna help you see behind you without having to look back all the time. You can easily just look up here and glance and see what's behind you. Let's check it out.

Taking a closer look at the mirror, you can see it's gonna be 4 inches by 11 inches wide. We also have two different sections here on the side that are convex and adjustable. So I can push it in and show you, you can adjust, just get that wider field of view. But the images are gonna be a little distorted there. This one is just flat glass in the middle, so it's just gonna be your standard mirror there.

So there's a few adjustment points, too. You have the ball-and-socket here on the back. It will allow you to move the mirror around. Then you also have this knob here you can loosen. That way you can raise or lower the mirror, too.

And once you get it where you want it, you can just tighten down that hand knob, and it's gonna stay in place. The way it attaches to the frame of your windshield is this clamp right here. And you're gonna need a tool to loosen and tighten it. But it is pretty simple to operate. So just turning the key.

That's gonna loosen it. Enough for me to slide it off there. And you can see the inside of the clamp. That's what it looks like. And you have these insides here that take up that gap, depending on the frame size of your windshield. So we have the thicker ones in there right now, but with those in there, that's gonna help it adapt to this frame. It's gonna come with two different inserts, too. They are gonna be a little bit thinner, so that'll work on other frames. Today, on this one, we had to use the thicker one to fill in that space. All in all though, it's gonna range from fitting frames from 3/8, all the way up to inch and a quarter, and that's gonna be square or round frames. The whole outside of the mirror is gonna be in ABS plastic, so it's gonna hold up to being out here in any elements, in the sun, you're not gonna worry about it rusting or corroding if it was like made out of metal. It's not gonna have those problems. CIPA does make a bunch of different style mirrors, so if you want one that's a little bit bigger, you can look it there, they'll probably have it. Or if you're not so much interested in the side mirrors that adjust, you just want one big mirror, that's another thing they offer. One thing I would suggest though, is maybe going with one that doesn't need a tool to tighten it up. That is the one bummer about this one, I feel, is that you have to have that Allen key, and you're not always gonna have that when you're out on your boat. It's much easier with the other ones that have the hand knobs that you can loosen or tighten and remove it when you need to. That being said, though, I think that does it. Thanks for hanging out and hope this helped..

Best mirror I've ever used. I clamps on securely on to the windshield rail and doesn't move unlike to previous other brands I tried. I am glad I told myself the third time is a charm. I will buy a mirror from another manufacture and see what happens. I and do not regret my decision.
