The crossbar-style hidden brackets attach to your vehicle's frame to provide attachment points for your tow bar. The visible portions of the brackets can be removed when you are not towing.

The square drawbars, or front arms, on the crossbar-style base plate kit are simple to mount and remove, easily securing with hitch pins. Once the drawbars have been removed, the remaining brackets are virtually invisible. On most automobiles, the brackets are mounted within the grille, where they remain not only unseen, but protected from scrapes and scuffs as well.

The visible portions of the brackets can be removed when you are not towing.My husband and I were able to install the Roadmaster base plates on our 92 Jeep Cherokee in just a couple of hours. It went on pretty much the same as the demonstration video on the etrailer web site. The minor differences were addressed in the printed instructions that were included in our package. We haven't put it to the test yet as we still need to tackle wiring for the Roadmaster Even brake system that we purchased second hand. We will be towing our Jeep with our 93 Safari Trek. Customer service provided by Marty was excellent. I will provide pictures at a later date.
I recieved the shipment yesterday however I won't be able to install it on my Jeep until we get back to Alberta after spending the winter in southern California. My only question is where do I get the items that bolt on to the base plates that attaches onto the tow bar?Haven't seen those advertized.
This is the third time I have order base plates and electrical hook ups from etrailer and love this company. We have a 1979 MCI Bus conversion and it is difficult at time finding things for towing etc for it because of age. Not with etrailer, they have it all. We have towed a 96 S-19 chevy, a 98 Jeep was next and this year we got a 2001 Jeep Cherokee which we got the electrical kit for from etrailer.com and the base plates are still on the way. Everything fits nicely and if you are unsure of how it all goes together just watch their video''s on the etrailer website which are very informational.

Just home from a 4600 mi trip, towing a 1995 jeep Cherokee. Never had a concern for the base plates or the curt tow bar. Rock solid and easy removable when needed with a few pins.
I recently did a cost comparison on a set of baseplates 1418-1 . I forwarded the comparison to etrailer.com. the price was matched with a 10% discount . A well engineered product that mounts solidly to the chassis. No cutting or trimming of any stock components. With the tow bar mounts removed the mounts are recessed from the bumper and nearly invisible.

Bolt on installation takes a few hours; the more rust on your car the longer it will take. These brackets fit perfectly and are very strong. The kit comes complete with all new bolts.
The base plate was perfect, as I expected, since it was the third one that I had installed on Jeep Cherokees. We towed the Jeep from Florida to Colorado and back with no problems, even though I needed your help to install the plate onto the bent chassis of my Jeep.
Went on just like you said and everything was just like except on my 96, it was much easier to secure the right hand bumper bolts after I took the vacume tank loose.
My order arrived sooner than expected. The price was better that I could find elsewhere with the free shipping. I installed the brackets myself and no modifications were required to complete the install. The instructions were good and all of the necessary hardware was included. Overall I am very pleased.

The baseplate is probably going to outlast the Jeep. I’ll use them again if I get another Jeep JK model.
great service. No problems w/ product. It did take longer than the 2 1/2 hours to get them on. However temps in AZ may have had something to do w/ placing them on in >100 degree weather. Thanks for the product

etrailer service is and has always been stellar. My order was correct and was delivered very quickly. The only reason I made this a four instead of a five was that the rear bolt position of both base plate brackets where welded on crooked. Each small plate was at a different angle from each other. In my opinion whoever welded them wasn’t paying attention to quality control. Because I was on a time crunch for my departure on a trip and could not wait for replacements (and I needed the vehicle for local driving) I made the brackets work. Other than that the installation went smoothly and I was able to test tow my 2004 CRV a couple of times without incident.

Item arrived earlier than predicted after viewing a very complete tracking system. The information was very clear and precise. Good job! I am 75 years of age and installed the baseplate myself. Only a couple of minor issues. One pin would not insert. Welding blob in the way. Filed it smooth and problem solved. The video was excellent but was a bit different in that it showed a different method o rear bolt installation, however the instructions on paper showed the correct way. Reinstalling the front clip had presented some difficulty. I suggest really watching the inner fender position relative to the front clip before removal. All said all went well. The finished look is great, (see pictures). Great product!

I believe the part you are looking for is 910021-00 from Roadmaster. It is the Quick Disconnect Tow Bar Base assembly.
