Base Plate Kit Recommendation for a 1996 Jeep Cherokee Sport with Tow Hooks
Question:
I am a bit confused on which adaptor will fit my 1996 Jeep Cherokee sport with tow hooks, metal front bumper with plastic end caps? I have a Falcon 2 tow bar.

The Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit, # 1418-1, will work on your 1996 Jeep Cherokee and it is compatible with your Falcon 2 tow bar. The only additional item that you may need to use the base plates with your Falcon 2 tow bar is the Roadmaster Quick Disconnect Tow Bar Base Assembly, # 910021-00, if you do not already have one with your tow bar.
When installing these base plates, you will need to remove the tow hooks and the front bumper. Once installation is complete, you will replace the front bumper, but not the tow hooks. I have attached a link to the installation instructions for you to check out.
To complete your flat towing set up, you may want to look into a lighting kit, safety cables and a supplemental braking system. For a light kit, I recommend the Roadmaster Standard Magnetic Tow Lights, # RM-2120. These are magnetic lights that are very easy to set up and use. If you do not already have a set of safety cables, then I recommend part # RM-643.
Most states now require the use of a supplemental braking system when flat towing. I recommend checking with your local laws to see if a braking system is required. If so, then I would recommend the Roadmaster Even Brake Proportional Braking System, # RM-9400. This is one of the easiest systems to set up and use and it will apply the brakes in your towed vehicle with the same intensity as your tow vehicle.
