Parts Needed to Flat Tow 1992 Jeep Cherokee XJ
Question:
I have a 1992 Jeep Cherokee XJ. I want to flat tow it behind my motorhome. I need a base plate, tow bar, electrical connection and braking system. For the electrical connection i would like to hard wire it in. What product do you recommend?

To flat tow the vehicle, You'll need a tow bar, base plates, wiring, a supplemental braking system, safety cables and possibly a high/low adapter.
For a tow bar, the Roadmaster StowMaster # RM-501 you'd looked at would work fine. For base plates, I'd recommend the Roadmaster # 1418-1 and for safety cables, use # RM-643. For the wiring, I'd recommend a diode kit like # RM-15267. For a braking system, go with the Brake Buddy Portable Braking System, part # HM39494. A portable system is easy to set up and is easily transported from vehicle to vehicle.
If the installed base plate has a height difference of more than 3 inches plus or minus compared to the receiver height of the receiver on the motorhome, you'll need a high/low adapter to bring it within 3 inches. I'll link you to our selection of adapters and a help article showing how to measure to determine which adapter is needed.
