Expert Reply:
The base plate kit needed for your 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport is the Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit, item # 1418-1, or the Roadmaster Standard Base Plate Kit, item # 1418-3. One of these base plate kits will be needed to tow your 2001 cherokee Sport with your Falcon 2 Towbar, item # RM-520.
The base plate kits available for the 1991 Ford Explorer are the Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit, item # 449-2 or the Roadmaster Standard Base Plate Kit, item # 409-1, and are not compatible with the 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport. We cannot recommend any modification to or alternate application of any manufacturers base plate kit.
An economical choice for wiring your 2001 Jeep Cherokee is the Tail Light Isolating Diode System with Wiring Harness, item # 38955. You may also need the Roadmaster Tow Bar Quick Disconnect Kit, item # RM-201 or the RoadMaster Quick Disconnects - Car Side Only, item # RM-222, to attach the Falcon tow bar to the base plate kit on the Cherokee.
