What's up everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today, we'll be checking out the Yakima StageTwo fat tire strap kit. So you're gonna buy this as an add-on. If you wanna carry a fat bike on your StageTwo and it's gonna give you enough straps to carry two fat tire bikes. Now we only have one on there today but you're gonna be able to replace your back wheel strap, making it longer, so it'll fit around those wheels. And then also get a front strap that goes inside the cradle here to also help tighten that down.
Let's check it out. Take a look at the strap side-by-side. This one on the left is gonna be the standard one, it's gonna be 12 inches. The new one for fat tire bikes, this is gonna be this one. It's gonna be 16 inches so you get that extra length there to make sure it goes around the fat tire.
The additional wheel straps are gonna be 26 and a half inches long. You're gonna feed them right here through the front cradle. You'll see a spot to feed 'em through and that's just gonna help hold that into place. You're gonna get two of the wheel straps as well. So these are gonna be 26 and a half inches long.
And these are gonna go around the front tire on both of your fat tire bikes. Now let's go over how to get this installed. So what we're gonna do is remove the original strap. It's really easy, you don't need any tools. So I'll set the new one aside.
We'll push the lever to get the strap out of there. And then all you do is push straight down on it, it pops out of place. Got that removed and you set that one aside, and then run the new one up and through. So we're just gonna pull up and what's gonna catch is this portion here, the cylinder, we'll catch it and keep it once it gets over that lip, keep it in place and now it won't fall back out and you've got the back wheel strap installed. Now we're gonna do the same thing on our back cradle. Looking to process, this time I got the tire. Run it through, just like we did before. Now adjust the cradle, go a little bit more underneath our tire and run the strap around. Look at our front wheel cradle. There's gonna be this slot here. That's what we're gonna use to run our strap through. Make sure when you do that, you feed it through like this. You want the strap to come through the back side and you want the buckle be up like that, so that when you run it through, you can make the connection. So I'm gonna start here on the back and run it through that front slot. It might take a couple tries. It's not, it's not super hard or anything but that strap can fold up a little bit or just not quite make it. I think we got it just a little bit, there we go. Now we can make the connection up here to go up behind the buckle and then come back down around the front. And you'll need to pull it tight. So make sure that's nice and secure. Overall I like the kit. It's really easy to get those straps put in there. You don't need any tools for either of them. It's kind of a shame it doesn't come with the bike rack right outta the gate so you can just throw your fat tire bike on there and go. But at least there's a kit to help you get that carried on and put on your vehicle. Well, I think that does it. Thanks for hanging out. I hope this helped..

Extra-long wheel straps let you secure 2 fat tire bikes to the Yakima StageTwo bike rack. Fits 20" x 4.0", 26" x 5", and 27.5" x 4.5" tires.I'm using it for a different rack, Rola Convoy, but it fits almost perfect. Needs a little help but is totally usable as a replacement strap.
