Why Is The RV Per Bike Weight Capacity Lower For The Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack

Question:

Hello, why is the weight capacity less for this product when used on an RV? I have two 50lb e-bikes without battery that I want to carry in my Class A RV hitch. Thank you for your help.

The suspension of an RV is much less sophisticated than a standard vehicle so it places more stress on the Yakima OnRamp # Y36FR. Because of the additional wear and tear on the bike rack testing has shown that adding more than 40lbs can damage the rack, leading to damage of the e-bikes.

The Yakima StageTwo Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # Y47VR is rated for RV use and has a 60lb per bike capacity when used on an RV. It mounts via the wheels using a strap and ratcheting arm so if you have front fenders you may have to remove them. There is a ramp # Y39VR (sold separately) to help load your heavy e-bikes onto the rack without having to lift them up as well. I've attached a short review video below so you can get a better look at this rack. If you have some other preferences then let me know and I'd be happy to explore other options.
