Hi, everyone, it's Evangeline. And today we'll be taking a look at the Replacement Top Clamp for your Yakima Roof-Mounted Carriers right here at etrailer. If you have a Yakima Rooftop Carrier like the Yakima FreshTrack or the Yakima ReelDeal which is what I have here, then you have mounting hardware that attaches to your clips. What might happen is that over time since there are bolts involved maybe you've cross threaded some of the threads or stripped them, maybe you lost the security bolts or the mounting hardware, whatever reason, we have the replacement parts for you. So this is going to be the Top Clamp. It has 4, maybe 5 parts.
The first is gonna be the clamp itself, the mounting hardware to the carrier, your tamper-proof bolt and then you have the plate so that you can attach the mounting hardware. And then you get this included tool. If it's the entire clamp that's missing from your own setup then you're gonna also need the clamp pad as well as your bottom piece and the T bolt and the wing nut. So you can find all of those right here at etrailer. But today we're gonna focus on our Top Clamp.
If you're replacing old hardware then use your included hex tool and fit that into the track inside your carrier, and then loosen the bolt from the top. Once that's loose, you can then take that top clamp out and then don't forget to grab your bolt as well. So now it's just a quick swapping of the pieces. If you already have the other pieces like the bottom clamp or the wing nut, that just get those lined up and then pop them right back into your carrier. Make sure it's facing the right way, right there.
Use that bolt to tighten it down. So that nut on the inside of the clamp is probably gonna be the one most likely to get cross threaded or stripped. That's why you would need this whole top clamp system in order to replace those. Especially if you have your tamper-proof screw, tighten that down as well once you have it on top. Then you're good to go.

It's a ski rack so its not all that exciting.
I like that it is small for storage reasons when not using it.
The fastening system to my Toyota Highlander factory rack is secure but a little cumbersome to apply and take off. I like to take it off when not using it to preserve my gas mileage.
The boards and skis fit fine although they are stacked in order to get 4 peoples worth of equipment up there. A small price to pay for their compact size on the roof or in the garage.
I love this ski rack and the service I got while making the purchase from etrailer! This rack securely holds up to 4 pair of skis and is super easy to put on and take off of the roof.
