Video Transcript for Titan Chain Link and Spring Tire Chain Adjuster Review

Hey there winter warriors, Dustin here at etrailer.com. And today we're going to be taking a look at the Titan Chain Spring Loaded Tire Chain Tensioners. Now these are available for different sized tires. We recommend these for use with light duty trucks or picking up the one that's for a heavy duty truck application, just so you can get the tightest fitting tire chains possible, keeping you safe on the road. Now you're saying yourself, Dustin, it's the middle of summer, I can see you sweating. But that's kind of the point, before you head into the winter season is the best time to break out your winter gear and make sure you're safe and prepared for the winter.

And that's why we're taking a look at these chain tensioners today. As you can see, they do an excellent job of supplementing your existing tire chains that may not have a built-in tensioning device. You can see the five strong durable springs that are going to stretch out and pull that tire chain tightly around your tire. Now, these work out great with the cable style chains we have, but also if you have a square link chain or a V-Bar chain, or even a twist link style chain that doesn't have a built-in tensioning device, we recommend picking up a tension device. And this is a great one.

We have it here on our truck today, and these are designed for truck applications, but realistically, anything with a larger tire, these are going to be great for. They come as a set of two. So you're going to get one for each side of your vehicle. If you are putting chains on all four of your wheels, I recommend picking up two sets, that way, you'll get four adjusters. Now that we've gone over some features, I'll show you how I got these in place.

So you can see what I was talking about with better tire chain in place. And this is a cable roller style. Problem here being, look, it's still, we got it as tight as we could around the tire, but it's still pretty loose. We just don't want to have any issues going down the road. So we're going to take our Titan tensioner and it's going to allow us to space it out and hook on with the hooks at the end of each spring, you want to make sure that the hook and is facing away from the tire, just so you're not having that potentially sharp edge dig into your tire.

So you would go from the inside out. And then what I like to do is just try and get these kind of in a star. If you think of it more like a star pattern that works as well. And. Now this is the tricky part, but it's also the point, you want that tension, so these last few are going to be more difficult, and that's good, you want that because you are trying to achieve that tension. So we'll get these in place. You're never going to get it perfect, but this is a good idea of what it should look like. If you do find yourself needing even more tension, you can adjust it here and take up some more of these links, but this seems pretty good. Look at it now, compared to how it was, it's pulled up really tight against this tire. It's not going anywhere, we can confidently go down the road now. Of course you want to keep those safe speeds. Keep it under about 30 miles an hour while you're going down the road with tire chains on is what we recommend. But I also recommend just driving a few feet after you get these installed, hop out and double check, make sure everything still looks good. If it does, then you're good to go. And that completes our look at Titan chains snow tire spring tensioners..

The above items were purchased for use on my 2000 Ford F350 crewcab 4X4 Truck.
Excellent website and easy to use.
Costs of items very competitive.
Shipping time was prompt! and items were well packaged.
Included several pictures of the items and of the installation on one of the Truck rear tire; LT285/75R 16 BFG all terrain tires...
Installation went well and there were no problems; everything looked good after the chains and tensioners were installed...
Hope this helps other folks out there.
Great products that I would highly recommend to other folks!!
Thanks, Henry

I purchased these chains, installed them for a check fit and kept them in the truck on my trip down to California driving the mountain passes in Oregon and California...As luck would have it I never had to chain up going south or when returning back home going north!!I am still highly impressed with the chains and I am glad that I purchased them from etrailer!!

by:

We just finished two years of full-time travel around the US. I bought two sets of chains and they fit snuggly, as expected, on my LT 275/65 R18 tires. I also bought two types of chain binders to keep them tight and positioned correctly in different conditions. So, that's 4 chain & spring binders AND 4 rubber binders ... just in case. I mounted them all to test the fit and practice my skills and drove 4 mi. on a dirt road. All went well. As we zig zag around the US it's a smart move to carry these chains and binders with us. Many states in the west have highways and roads that mandate use of chains. I'm glad I didn't need to use them last year but I'm confident we're ready if need be. Thanks to etrailer for great documentation and Fabulous customer service!

Definitely pulled the snow cables in tight. They might be better than the plastic in extreme cold but I’m not sure. I haven’t done a hard ice test yet. I’ll update once I do

by:

Good quality and fit.

by:

I received my order on Friday, I placed my order Wednesday evening, I would say that is a great turnaround time, I feel the products I ordered are good quality and a fair price. I test fitted my chains and adjusters Saturday morning, I had to tweak one the chains a little and they seem great, thanks a lot, I feel I got a good fair deal.

Helped take up some slack in the chain

by:

I am going into my second year with tire chains for snow plowing. My driveway is 1200 feet long with a pretty significant uphill. I find the chains difficult to put on but easy to take off. The chain tighteners are a definite necessity. Without the chains I could not navigate the inclines of my driveway so they are a good investment.

I noticed after the first season the chains are developing rust and corrosion so spraying them at the end of the season with anti-corrosion fluid (PB Buster is what I use) appears to help. I also find hanging the chains versus putting them back in the bag will help reduce the buildup of rust.

by:

They keep the chain nice and tight and in position on the wheels. The only issue is the opening in the spring end are too small and can be difficult to get on or off the chains. I took pliers and opened the ends up a little and that made it easier to get them on and off.

by:

Bought TC2828CAM tire chains and TCSA2 chain tension springs.

Haven't had a chance to use either the tire chains nor the link springs; however, all items where shiny and new and looked to be made of first class metal, so I'd expect each item to work as advertised without issue.

The speed of delivery was like 2 days, so awesome.

E-mail updates of shipping and the ability to track it was fine.

I'd recommend purchases from here for whatever you'd want.

by:

The item was described correctly and was just what I wanted. The box was slightly damaged and one of the boxes was not sealed shut inside so the contents was starting to come out. It was made of metal so there was no damage to it.
The shipping was very fast, in fact I got it a day earlier then said.
I would buy from them again.

by:

I am using the adjusters on my bobcat with 16 inch tires and LT ice chains. The opening of the spring for fitting on the chains is somewhat small , a needle nose pliers helps with getting them on. Otherwise seem fine.

by:

The Titan chain spring tensioners are very well built, and fully adjustable in tension strength with the inner ring of chain, connected with the clip type latch. They quickly arrived from E-trailer in handy, reusable bags for summer storage !

by:

Have not had the opportunity to test these however I have fit them in my driveway to make sure I knew how to do it prior to getting into the snow fortunately my trip across country has not required that I use my chains or these tensioners. however they look to be a quality product and I have no doubt they will last for years and years to come

by:

I tried to purchase tire chain adjusters at three auto parts stores plus Tractor Supply. They did not stock them or were on back order. I went to ETrailers web site and they were in stock, I ordered them and received them within a few days. The product was of excellent and so was the service,

by:

Those spring type chain tighteners are the absolute best in toughness. They outlast any rubber type unit !

by:

As described. This tool helps with chain tighening, etc. I'm happy. etrailer delivered as promised and demonstrated extra mile customer service to get me all ordered parts before my extended driving trip. Thank you.

by:

ordering was easy and delivery was fast. They look to be just what I was looking for. When I use them I will know more

by:

The tire chains look tremendous. I cannot wait to see them on my truck going through deep snow. The delivery time was outstanding. You folks are great. Thank you.

by:

Haven't actually used it yet, but it's great quality. I'd highly recommend this for anyone getting a standard set of snow chains.

by:

Unfortunately I haven't used the snow chains yet.

by:

Highly recommend these. Helped me get my chains extra-super-tight!

by:

Haven't had to use but a pre-fit on tires indicated they should be reliable and long lasting.

by:

Have not used these yet and hopefully won't have to. They look durable and easy to use. Customer service at etrailer is great

by:

They look good, but the little chain that they use seems a little small for the job. We will have to see how they hold up to the winter and mud. I will update after winter.

by:

Looks reliable. Will update the review after trying these during the November hunting trip.

The Titan chains part # TC2828 are a fit for the tire size you have on your 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L of 265/60-18 and for tensioners I would recommend the # TCSA2 which are going to a great job providing a solid amount of tension in your chains that also install easily. The Titan Chain Tire Chains w Cams # TC3235CAM are confirmed to fit your 35x12.5x20 sized tires. They do have built in cam tighteners so additional adjusters are not necessarily required although they can make things easier. For a rubber adjsut you can use # TCMA2 and for a link and spring adjuster use # TCSA2. I found an online owner's manual for your 2012 Ford F-250 to see what Ford says about using chains. You should check yours to verify. It states that Class S compatible chains...

The Titan Chain Link and Spring Tire Chain Adjuster for Light Trucks # TCSA2 when used with the Titan chains part # TC2828 has the advantage of being all metal instead of having a rubber component that over time might be prone to failing. Pewag tire chains are made of higher quality steel and other metals than the less costly chains. They will hold up better which will limit the number of replacement chains you would have to purchase. In the long term it would save you money to go with higher quality chains if you use chains frequently. Pewag has also existed in metal works for over 700 years! For only occasional use a less expensive and lower quality chain will work just fine. We have numerous chains for the 215/85-16...

I have another option but the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains # TC2533 you were looking at will not be the best option for mud due to the use of cams that often come loose when driving on harsh terrain or mud, which is why they are listed as on road only. • Snow Chains/Cables Recommendation for 315-75-16 Tires
For snow chain cables that are a fit for your 315/75-16 tires, I'd recommend the # TC3031 from Titan Chain. These chains carry a 'Class S' designation and are specifically designed for vehicles with tight clearance between the tire and the wheel well and the inside of the tire and the suspension components. The cables should be installed on the drive wheels of the vehicle and on a 4x4 vehicle, they'd be installed on the rear wheels but you could use them on all 4 wheels if you wish. Adjusters,...
