Hey there Swagman owners. Today, we're going to be taking a look at the replacement wheel hoop for your Swagman XC bike rack. Now, we don't like to think about it, but accidents do happen. It's entirely possible you backed into something with your bike rack in place, and now your wheel hoop is bent. In that instance, you're going to want a new one. Sometimes, unfortunately, over time they do get rusty and you don't want any of that rust transferring to your bike.
That's another instance you might want to replace your wheel hoop. The wheel hoop we're looking at today is a direct replacement for that. So rather than investing in a whole new bike rack, you can save yourself some money and just replace your wheel hoop. I'll go ahead and show you how to do that.At the end of your bike rack's arm, there is a set screw here. We want to take that out.
That's what prevents our wheel cradles from sliding all the way off. But once we take it off, no problem. Now we can freely slide off our old wheel cradle. And whichever one you're replacing you'll want to go ahead and slide that one off. And I do want to mention this does come as a quantity of one.
So for as many as you're replacing, go ahead and pick up that many.Then you can take your new hoop and slide it into place. Now it is a direct replacement, but you'll notice the finish on it is different. This is a glossy black powder coat, where this is a matte black powder coat. Swagman did have a design change and the only real difference is the color. It's going to function identically.
It's going to get you down the road just the same. And what you'll want to do once you'd get that in place is re-install your set screw here on the end. Then. You do get new hardware. So you'll get a new handle. That nut is going to line up with the square on the bottom. Place on your flat washer and then your locking handle nut. And this will tighten it down. Just like that, you're ready to get back on the road. You can adjust this for your bike, tighten it down just the same, load up your bikes just the same. And that's going to complete our look at the replacement wheel hoop for your Swagman XC bike rack.

Seems to be a good replacement part for the price! The only thing I wish it had was the little knobs to hook the wheel secure rubber straps too. I know I could have ordered that one at almost twice the cost so I just settled for this version and if I want to secure it I can just use a bungie cord.

I bought a MAXXHAUL platform rack in July,not realizing the wheel cradles would not accomidate the small wheel of my recumbent bike. I called the experts and Anthony found thee cradles and they are just what I needed. Thank you Anthony for your advise and patients. I was not able to write a review sooner be cause about the time my cradles arrived we had a major storm here, trees down and power out. I will try to submit a pic but have been having some trouble with that lately .
This is a very good product it really makes hauling bikes very easy I do recommend Putting Velcro on the wheels and frame of your bike holding your bike to this rack, roads around here are very severe and I’ve had a couple bikes fall off but with the Velcro it’s a lot less likely,I do recommend putting some electrical tape on the ends of your bike rack so this particular parT Doesn’t fall off

I had lost one of my tire holders off my bike rack and had to go shopping on the internet to find a replacement. etrailer.com was great, they had the exact part, easy to use their online ordering form, and it was shipped and at my house in about 4 days for the cheapest shipping ($5) I could have had it sooner if I wanted to pay more.
I just installed it onto my bike rack and it fit perfectly! I'm ready to hit the trails again with both bikes attached securely to the rack.

Great! I take my dirt bike to the woods on the rack several times a week and the rack is holding up very well.

Just what I needed to replace the tire hoops that were damaged in our trip from CA to AK when the bike rack was dragged for miles behind my 5th wheel camper. Two bikes and the trailer hitch were damaged beyond repair but the bike carrier survived except for the tire loops.

Replacement part was exactly what was need for our swagman xc2 bike rack. The original part worked loose while traveling without bikes mounted. Was surprised at short time from order to delivery ordered on 9/21 and received on 9/27, well packed. We will definitely use etrailer again for our RV needs.

Just having returned from a close to 12K mile trip across USA and Canada, with 2 bikes on back of ttlr experienced no problems, just like new off factory floor. would purchase again if ever needed.
I ordered two replacement wheel hoops for my 2 bike carrier. I guess some low life needed them more than I. Anyway, they got here in good time, well packaged and are already mounted on the carrier. The fit and function are both perfect. Thank you.

No problems!
I got this as backup for the original part because the wheel hoops appear to be likely failure points. I'm very glad I could get it. So far with over 25,000 miles use on my motorhome, including some abuse caused by jack-knifing a boat trailer while backing, the originals are still in good shape and I haven't needed to install this part. Note that it was delivered six months after ordering.

I feel this is the best versatile bike carrier on the market. Had it many years now. Unfortunately I forgot to tighten a know and lost the hoop, hence the replacement. Thanks to etrailer for having it at a reasonable cost. Done much business with them, always good.
we recently lost a part from our bike trailer (it may be somewhere along the highway, lol) and was thrilled to find the exact part we needed on Etrailer...the shipment was fast and efficient...the only part of the process I would make better is the actual searching mech. on your website...I had trouble locating "parts" and had to go about it a few different ways in order to find this part for my trailer...possibly have the whole item, then be able to search for parts related to that item?...anyway, thank you for the great service.

It is working great no problem
I lost a loop off my bike rack running around without a bike on it. I was so happy to find the part at etrailer and for a good price. I've bought hitches and other bike racks from etrailer. Bike rack works great. I have to frequently check that the loops are tightened so they don't vibrate off. They seem to be harder to tighten as they get older. I have had my rack for several years and have enjoyed it. I appreciate being able to replace the wheel hoop.

I use my bike rack regularly and it continues to work great. It does require periodic lubrication to make the bars slide up and down easily. The loops for the wheels will not tighten at this stage but it is not a problem. I always fold the bars up when not in use to prevent them from being bumped into in parking lots. Overall I am very happy with this product.
