This add-on lets you convert your RockyMounts SplitRail 2-bike carrier for 2" hitches into a 3-bike or 4-bike rack. The expansion slides into the spine of your SplitRail and adds a mounting location for a third bike.
Features:
- Expansion accessory lets you carry additional bikes on your SplitRail 2-bike rack for 2" hitches (RKY11404 - sold separately)
- Add up to 2 to carry a total of 4 bikes
- Adjustable bike trays slide 4" side to side to optimize bike spacing
- Easy installation with included hardware and Allen keys
- Remove endcap from the base rack
- Slide the bars, spacer, and add-on extender into the spine of the base carrier
- Install bike tray and re-attach endcap to the front of the add-on rack
- Durable chromoly steel and aluminum construction with rust resistant black powder coat finish

The extension is fine: it holds my bikes properly.
However, when the lock cable is stowed, it doesn't always stay in place. There have been a few times when I found the lock cable dangling/swinging freely, such that it could hit my car. The main rack's lock cables haven't ever done this; only the add-on.
Note that the release handle (for lowering/raising the back) does not get extended with this add-on, so it's a bit of a reach to get to the handle. Also the lock core will probably have a different key from the ones on the main rack.

Add on is great. Noticed some comments about the locks falling out, you just have to twist it back to the proper position. I actually have to do it on both the original and the add on to be sure they are locked in place. The keys for the locks are different, but thats the same with every add on rack system. Dont hesitate in adding this to your rack if you carry 3-4 bikes!
