Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the replacement brake shoes for the 12 inch by two inch Hayes Electric Brake assemblies on 6,000 pound to 7,000 pound axles. Now, these trailer brake shoes are designed for the Hayes Electric Brake assemblies. This will fit the size 12 inch by two inch size brake assemblies. And when we say 12 inch by two inch, what that measurement is, is when these are installed on the brake assembly, the 12 inch measure is gonna be the diameter from this side to this side. And then the two inch size is gonna be the width of the pad that's on the brake shoe.
And what needs to install, it does require installation hardware. Now, that is not included. We do sell that separate on our website, and they are listed on this product page as a related product. Now, these brake shoes can be used as either left hand driver's side or right hand passenger side brake shoes. One thing you want to be aware of is when these are installed, you have to look at the length of the pad that's on the shoe, so it goes from here all the way to here.
And if you look at the pad here, it goes from here to here. This is the shorter pad so this will always be the primary shoe. The primary shoe will face the front of the trailer. So if you're gonna put them on that side, it'll go that way, if you're gonna do it on the other side, you'll have it turned around just like that. So you can use these brake shoes on either left hand or right hand side brake assemblies.
But that should do it for the review on the replacement brake shoes for the 12 inch by two inch Hayes Electric Brake assembly on the 6,000 pound to 7,000 pound axles..

Ordered brakes shoes (BP04-184) for all four wheels of my trailer on Tuesday before the Memorial Day Holiday hoping to get them by Friday so I could install over the long weekend. etrailer.com did not disappoint, the brakes (free shipping over $99) arrived mid day Friday. Easy install, especially with the video for reference.
Forgot to mention, etrailer's prices are very competitive, in my case they beat local suppliers, making using them a "no brainer".

They had what I needed, good price, but the handling & shipping time was pretty poor. The order was in stock, and didn't ship for 7 (calendar) days. It was a part I was waiting on for my trailer to be put to use in a half dozen ways, so was quite inconvenient to wait for apparently no reason.

Shoes look great,arrived on time, ordered seals,outside is the right size,but inner side is to large. My bad I didn’t measure the inner race for the correct seals. Old ones still kook good. Larry ps love the RVing hitch that I bought 3 years ago

Shoes are fine but did not come with retaining pins and springs. 1st I ever bought that did not come with them. Kinda felt cheated since I had to drive 30 miles to buy pins & springs.
Brake magnet was fine.

- Availability of Replacement 12" Brake Shoes and Liners for Rockwell American Brake KitWhile we do have replacement brake shoe and liner kits for 12" brakes like the Redline # BP04-185, we unfortunately don't carry and replacements for Rockwell American brakes. With that being said, we usually recommend replacing the entire brake assembly when the shoes need to be replaced simply because it is about the same price (a little higher, yes) and it means that you're entire braking system is the same age and you won't have to worry about replacing any of the other internal components....

From what I was able to find you should need replacement brake shoe and lining # BP04-185. This is for one wheel and it fits Hayes/ALKO 12 x 2 inch brakes. For the bearings I would just need to know the inner and outer bearing numbers stamped into the metal of the bearings. With those numbers I can determine the correct parts or kit if available.
