Ellen: Hey everyone, I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. Today we're taking a look at the control block for bike racks. This is going to be the cradle that your bike will sit in. So this is basically going to keep your bike in place. It's going to fit on a upright arm, on either the Rhode Gear Highway bike carrier, or also the Prorack 2 bike rack. There are several different models of the Rhode Gear Highway that this fits, you can see a complete list of those at our website for the product page here at etrailer.com.But basically what I'm going to do with you guys is go over some measurements to make sure that this is going to fit your bike rack.
And this has a little slot in it to allow the strap to go through, so typically this is probably going to be sort of an anti-sway strap or anti-sway cradle. So it's going to go on the down tube of your bike to keep it from moving back and forth and making contact with your other bikes or your vehicle. It's made out of a durable plastic construction so it has a little bit of give, but it's not super brittle, so it should last for a long time and again, replace that cradle for us.So overall, it measures about 4-1/2 inches long from the top to this edge here, or the bottom to this edge, depending on how you have it mounted up. The widest point is going to be up here, it's about 1-5/8 of an inch across. And that's about the same as this little bottom node there.
The width is about 2-1/4 inch side to side. The large hole here has an inner diameter of about 1-3/32, so just under 1-1/8 inch. This slot here in the center to allow a strap to pass through measures about 1-1/8 long by 3/16 of an inch wide. And then this small hole down here, you might have a configuration where you need a pin to go through there, that's got an inner diameter of about 1/4 of an inch.So hopefully those measurements give you an idea of what this is going to fit. It does just come as you see it here.
There's no strap or anything included with this, so you will have to provide that on your own. We do have a lot of options for straps available here at etrailer.com if you want to pick one up. But that's going to do it for our look at the replacement control block for the Rhode Gear and Prorack bike racks.

Exact replacement for my ancient RThode gear 1 1/4 hitch rack. Now if I could just find the end caps I'll be in like Flynn.

Bought four replacement bike rack controls for my two bike carrier. The racks worked fine for the male bike but the straps could have been much longer to hold a woman's bike that doesn't have the crossbar. Therefore had to use bungee cords to attach bike to rack. I know that there is a special crossbar attachment designed for a female bike but this have been much too costly for a old bike rack.
I receiver the product however it didn't work in my situation. I then purchased another bike rack from another site. It works great.
I was impressed with the customer service and I love the product. I replaced the road blocks I had on my bike rack with these that are much easier to use.
These parts were an exact replacement and worked great. I was able to track the shipment to the local post office and was able to pick them up there as I needed them sooner than they were scheduled to deliver.
advertised as a replacement for Rhode Gear replacement. Not the case. Diameter is much larger than tube it goes over.
Fit ProRack 2-bike trailer hitch rack as replacement part just as advertised.

Good product but for some reason not the right diameter for my rhode gear bike rack. I used some duck tape to put on the rack and et voilà!
