What's up, everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna be checking out this breakaway cable replacement part for the CURT Breakaway Switch. It's gonna be 48 inches long. Let's check it out. It's gonna be a steel cable with nylon coating on the outside. That's really important because these cables are thin, and if that nylon coating wears down, it can rust and corrode and then snap on you.
So it's always good to check these yearly to make sure it's still got the coating on there and there's no signs of rust. It's gonna be a universal fit for the brake controllers as well. So I know I said it's for the CURT brake controller, but it works with several other ones. So you just look at your fitting there, and if it's like that it's gonna fit. Since this is a steel cable, it's gonna be 48 inches long.
You might have to loop up a little bit of it if you have too much because you don't want it dragging on the ground or catching on anything when you're offloading. Now, there are other options out there. There's a coiled design breakaway cable, and it'll stay more tight when you have it plugged in and put on the vehicle. That way it's not dragging on the ground. Overall, that's a quick look at this replacement breakaway cable.
Hopefully, you go out and look at yours and make sure there's no rust on there, or order this if there is so you can quickly replace it so there's no issues down the road. Well, I think that does it. Thanks for hanging out and hope this helped.

Like new again. Fit right in. Was a little shorter above the mount, and a little longer below the mount as the old one it replaced. But cranked up all the way it looks like it will be out of the way.
I repainted the A frame so while I was doing that I painted the bottom black as the zinc at the bottom usually wears out and rust starts. Replaced the hitch pin with a stainless bolt and lock nut. Bolted it in with new stainless hardware.
Brake safety like new again. Sure the battery will be good I ordered, just want to take the junk scotch locks out and solder the wires before I install it. Why do they use those things cheap skates. Already did 80%of the lights just to avoid future problems.

My old cable was in two and even tho this is not the same type of breakaway I have it still will work. Just had to hook the old pin into the new loop. Could not go to the Hardware store and replace for this price.

- Replacement Breakaway Switcch Key for Curt Breakaway SystemTypically breakaway switch keys, like the Roadmaster # RM-200200-20 you mentioned, are pretty universal so this will likely work, but it hasn't been tested out so I can't confirm this on my end. Instead, I recommend just going with a Curt brand replacement so you know for sure that it will fit. You'll need part # C52020 if you have a Soft Trac I or II, or part # C49BR for any other Curt breakaway switches.
