No hardwiring is required to install this adapter. After you plug it into the Tekonsha, Tow Ready, Draw-Tite, Reese, or Pro Series wiring harness in your vehicle, you simply plug the other end of the adapter directly into your electric trailer brake controller. Because there are no wires to connect, installation is not permanent. You can unplug and remove your brake controller at any time to transfer it to another vehicle or securely stow it for the next time you use your Curt brake controller.

Today we're going to be taking a look at Part Number C51520. This is a Curt Wiring Adapter for Cequent Trailer Brake Controller Wiring Harnesses. You can use a Curt electric trailer brake controller with this adapter. All you have to do is plug one end of the adapter into your Curt controller which would be this end here and then plug the other end into the Tekonsha, Reese, Draw-Tite, Pro Series or Tow Ready wiring harness in your vehicle. This does not require any cutting or splicing of the wires for the complete installation. Simply one connector end is going to plug into the existing Cequent Wiring Harness in your vehicle.
That's this connector here. The other end is going to plug into the back of your current electric brake controller. This is compatible with time-delayed and proportional brake controllers from Curt. All you have to do is make sure that the brake controller has a built in plug for the adapter to connect. This will not work on controllers with pigtail wiring harnesses. Now, taking the measurement of the overall length measuring from edge to edge, that's going to give us a measurement of about 6 inches.
The actual wire length in between the two connectors, that's going to give us a measurement of about 3 inches. Now for demonstrations today, I do have a wiring harness from Cequent. This would've been installed in a vehicle and it would've been working with a different type of brake controller that's not Curt related but let's say we want to keep the wiring harness in our vehicle but we want to change out our brake controller for our Curt brake controller, then this adapter right here, Part Number C51520 is going to be exactly what you need. It's going to plug into the existing Cequent wiring harness just like so and then now, it's going to convert it to where it can connect to your Curt trailer brake controller. To disconnect, all you have to do is lift up on the tab, wiggle the connections lose until it fully disconnects. That's going to do it for our review of Part Number C51520. This is the Curt Wiring Adapter for Cequent Trailer Brake Controller Wiring Harnesses.

Use a Curt electric trailer brake controller with this adapter. Simply plug one end of the adapter into your Curt controller and plug the other end into the Tekonsha, Reese, Draw-Tite, Pro Series, or Tow Ready wiring harness in your vehicle. Both the new harness and the Reese have male connectors.
Now I need a darn double female to use the harness.
I'm not happy about the misfit.
Best place to order from, bar none !!! B
