Etrailer is by far an excellent company to deal with. Quality products and fast shipping is only part of what makes them the best. These LED lights are of superior quality and I highly recommend them and this company.

by:

Beautiful tail light. Very bright for the brake and turn signal. Fitted it on the back of my trailer with an L bracket.

by:

Very nice quality trailer lighting including a quick delivery, I will buy from this company again

by:

Tired of dealing with corroded bulbs so bought these LED units. Same 2" bolt spacing as old one so easily mounted. Spliced wire connections and works great. Super bright! Will see how it holds up to weather. Hopefully will never have to touch it again.

by:

They sent me old halogen light fixture. Not sure how that got sent out the door.

I know that's super frustrating to have to go through placing the order and waiting for it to arrive and then it turns out its the wrong thing, and then having to let us know and then having to go through whatever process to get the correct item sent. I can only chalk it up to human error plain and simple. I am glad to see our customer service team is sending you the correct part. Thanks for bringing this to our attention!

First set of submersible trailer light that have lasted the rigors of salt water. Highly recommend this product

by:

So far so good I have had these lights on for over a year now and have forgotten several times to unplug when launch or retrieving the boat it doesn't seem to effect the lights as they still work fine. Stop and signal is not that bright in daylight but shows up fine in dusk or night. It could be my angle of the trailer that causes this.

by:

E trailer always gets my orders shipped quickly and correctly.

by:

etrailer has always been good to me

This light is a great up grade to the stocks lights that came with my new "Trailer in a Bag". I am looking forward to these LED's working well with all the bouncing road punishment a small trailer has.
I will report again once I have put on 500 trailer miles

  • Will LED Submersible Trailer Stop, Turn and Tail Light # STL8RB Fit Light Guard Tail Light # LG440NP
The Redline Unpainted Steel Light Guard, part # LG440NP, is designed to fit the Peterson square tail light, the square taillight 440 or the 440L. However I took some measurements of the Light Guard and the LED Submersible Trailer Stop, Turn and Tail Light, # STL8RB (see image) and I found that the light will fit. The light guard measures 5 inches tall and 5-1/2 inches wide, while part # STL8RB measures 4-3/4 inches square. More important the light has two studs on 2 inch centers, the same...

  • How to Ground the LED Submersible Light part # STL8RB
The LED Submersible Light part # STL8RB that you referenced would work perfectly for you. You would match the brown and green color wires of the assembly to the brown and green wires of your trailer and then would run the white wire to a clean metal surface that touches your trailer frame. This is the ground circuit. Your old light assemblies probably grounded through the mounting hardware. If so, you could just put the ring terminal of the white wire on one of the mounting studs of the...

  • Why is the Left Hand Light More Expensive than the Right Hand Light?
The left hand taillight is more expensive because it contains more LED lights than the right side, due to the addition of the license plate light on the bottom of the light. The white LED is more expensive to produce also and that adds to the cost of the left hand light because the license plate lamps are white.

  • Not Getting Turn Signal Function When Using LED Bulbs On A Trailer
LED bulbs have little resistance on their own, so when used with turn signals they can create a hyper flash situation, which is a fast flashing of the bulb. To determine if you will need a load-resistor kit like a LED Light Bulb Load-Resistor Kit # DI34ZR, you will install the bulbs and when the turn signals are activated, if the bulbs hyper flash you will need to install the load-resistor kit. This kit will prevent the turn signals from hyper flashing. You will need one kit for each LED...

  • Troubleshooting Right Stop/Turn Circuit Not Functioning on Trailer Wiring
What you will need to do is use the circuit tester you have like part # PTW2993 and test the right stop/turn circuit from the trailer connector all the way back to the light assembly. There has to be a problem on this circuit between either the connector, the light assembly, or anywhere in between. I would recommend you test it right after the trailer's connector and then work your way down the circuit towards the assembly testing it periodically to see if you can narrow down where the...

  • Troubleshooting Left Blinker Not Working on a Trailer
It really sounds like the ground is not making good enough contact on the left turn signal/tail light and because of that it is able to draw enough amperage to illuminate the blinker function of your bulb. There is a chance the converter box of your setup could be wrong, in order to test that you will need to test for voltage coming into the box and then for voltage coming out of the box with circuit tester like part # PTW2993 . If you find that there is voltage going into the box on the...

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Wiring That Stops Working with Vehicle Headlights On
It sounds like you might have a bad ground connection. When the headlights are on, that is when there is the most power draw on the system. Stepping on the brakes would then add more and this is when a ground problem will usually show up. The taillights usually ground through the mounting bolts on trailers. Check for a bad ground, loose connection, and dirt and corrosion. Any of those can cause this problem. Also check the light bracket connections to the trailer frame as lights can ground...

  • Troubleshooting Right Turn and Running Lights on Trailer Towed by 2007 Ford F150
I would recommend starting at the 7-way connector at the rear bumper of your truck. Use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 and activate the right turn signal. Test the pin in the 3:00 position. The tester should flash with the turn signals. When the brake pedal is pressed, this pin should light up the tester as well. Repeat the test on the pin in the 9:00 position which is the left turn/brake and the pin in the 11:00 position, which is the running/ marker lights. Check the pins for excessive...

  • Can a Passenger Side Tail Light Be Used on the Driver Side of a Trailer
Left side tail lights have a clear lens on the bottom to light up the license plate. Right hand side tail lights do not. If you were to use the right hand side light, # STL8RB, you would need a separate light to illuminate the license plate. The left hand side light that matches is # STL9RB. • Installing LED Lights On Trailer Connected to 2003 Dodge Dakota with Incandescent Lights
The 2003 Dodge Dakota does not have a converter box as a part of the trailer wiring. Here is where confusion comes in and where ambiguity comes. Some LED lights may have zero issue plugging directly into the system based on the trailer length, ground connections, and number of LED's in each light fixture. Due to enough power draw. Other trailers may not have enough power draw and may have hyperflashing issues requiring load resistors either on each line or through a converter like #...

  • LED Trailer Taillight Replacement Recommendation
LED lights are more durable and can withstand more than incandescent bulbs. Regular bulbs are pretty fragile by comparison. That is not to say that the LEDs are indestructible but they will hold up better than regular bulbs. I attached a page that has all of the LED trailer taillights we offer that could possible fit. The part # STL8RB and # STL9RB are very popular options that you might consider. I attached an install video for these lights for you to check out as well.

  • Troubleshooting Dim Trailer Lights and Running Lights and Turn Signals Blinking Together
This sounds like a ground problem. If it only happens when the running lights are on it indicates a ground issue. Ground problems normally show up when the system is being subjected to a maximum load. First, make sure the main ground from the trailer plug is attached to a clean and corrosion free bare metal surface. Next, go back to the lights. Most trailer lights ground through the mounting studs if there is not an obvious ground wire. In either case, the grounds have to be attached to...

  • Can Tow Vehicle with LED Lights Connect with Trailer that has Incandescent Lights
Assuming the lights and wiring on your older trailer are in good condition you will not have any issues connecting with and powering its standard incandescent lights with a tow vehicle that is equipped with LED lights. The difference in light assemblies used on the vehicle and trailer will not cause any problems with function or power. If you can tell me the year, make, and model of your tow vehicle I will be happy to recommend a trailer wiring harness if you don't already have one installed.

The Redline # LG440NP steel trailer lamp box works well with the Peterson # 432400 driver's side and # 432200 passenger side incandescent taillights, but I'd recommend going with LED taillights because they draw less power, are brighter and last a heckuva lot longer. If you want to go that route, use # STL9RB for the driver's side and # STL8RB for the passenger side. Per the product description, you'll need to cut a slot in the underside of the lamp box on the driver's side so the license...

  • What Would Cause Trailer Wiring To Flash or Blink When Hitting Bumps in Road
Your trailer lighting is flickering because the wiring of the trailer is grounding through the hitch ball and coupler and not through the ground wire circuit. When you hit a bump the ball intermittently stops making contact with the coupler which stops the lights from working. What you can do try improving the ground wire that comes from the main harness of the trailer to the frame and you should see it start working normally.

  • Can Bulbs of Trailer Lighting Be Swapped to Convert To LED
Yes to both of your questions. You can swap your incandescent bulbs for LEDs to convert the trailer to LED and you can just splice in additional taillights with additional wiring. Looks like you have a Series 92 taillight so the correct bulb style is 1157 and for LED you'd want # P231157R360.
