Longer stinger let me drop the tailgate on my Tacoma with trailer attached. Replaced a similar but shorter Curt hitch and both are very substantial and well made for the weight of my trailer.

With good information from the website it was easy to order a Curt 2"
Trailer Hitch, the Upgraded Circuit Protected Tail Light Converter Hardwire Kit w/ 4-Pole Connector and Circuit Tester - 119178KIT, Curt Ball Mount for 2" Hitches (3/4" Rise, 2" Drop - 10-1/4" Long - 7,500 lbs - D-4), Curt Pin and Clip Hitch Receiver - C21500, Rubber Tube Cover for 2" Trailer Hitch Receivers - I-728,Review, and 2" hitch ball 40038. Parts were delivered earlier than the initial estimate. Self installation (on a sloped drive way) took just under 2 hour. The fit of parts was very good, instructions and on-line video's were very helpful. My Kia did not have the wire plug in option, but the splice connections in the wire kit were easy to install. Most of the parts are hidden from view when the ball mount is not used.

I have a custom made tow guard. The ball mount I have was too short to allow me to attach the tow guard to my new truck. I searched the web and found just what I needed at etrailer.com. It's the only site I found that carried the size I needed. The product fits my needs perfectly. I can now protect my boat from rocks and other road debris when towing. Thank you etrailer.com.

by:

surprised as part of the package sold the pin to secure the 2" ball mount was not included.

There are some ball mounts that do include the hitch pin and the ball with them, like kit # 989900. If you were not needing a ball and wanted to get a kit with just the pin and clip included with the ball mount, we do have part # 2923.

by:

Just what I wanted!

by:

No problem.It works as expected.

by:

I purchased this unit to extend the trailer jack handle just far enough that I could open the tailgate on my truck with the trailer attached. It worked perfect. I tow a pop-up camper with 2006 Toyota Tacoma. Pricing was good and delivery was quick from etrailer. At first I tried to buy locally from auto parts store or camper store, but neither had in stock anything the right dimensions. The unit from etrailer is made in the USA, fit just right, and was better quality than what I saw locally.

by:

I have to back up a hill and around a corner with arthritis in my neck to park my boat. I installed a front trailer hitch on my suv and needed this longer shaft Ball Mount to keep the ball far enough away from my license plate and front bumber that I won't damage my vehicle. The unit fits the bill to a "T" and has already gotten compliments from others for its quality and stability. I look forward to fishing season so I can use it.

by:

Be aware that etrailer's guidelines for review prevent me from explaining my rating. I could give you the good and the bad, but not if I follow the company's guidelines which are slanted to control what potential customers can learn about the company's service.

by:

I bought this ball mount to replace a shorter unit (8.5"-9") in order for the tailgate to clear the jack on one of my trailers when down. The first one that was delivered had a lot of damage to the powder coat finish due to rough shipping (UPS!). etrailer was very quick to send another out that arrived unscathed. Thanks again!

by:

I wanted a longer hitch sleeve to prevent back the trailer winch into the tailgate of my pickup and this works perfectly for that purpose. Price was great too! Thank you etrailer!

by:

This is the 10th order I have made from etrailer.com, most of them with multiple items. I cannot say enough about what great experiences I have had with etrailer.com. The website is incredibly helpful, the search tools are great, and the specs, videos and other information are very helpful. The items always ship right away, and arrive well packaged and promptly - and for me they have to cross the border to Canada. I recommend this site to my friends with trailers and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a great experience - and who doesn’t!

by:

Fit my application perfectly - I wanted more space between the tow vehicle and trailer jack so that I could open my tailgate with the trailer attached. Gave me just enough clearance. Shipping was fast, service was great - thanks etrailers!!

by:

Top-notch product. Just completed a 1400 mile trip pulling a trailer with my Chevy Equinox and my etrailer hitch: issue free! That's the best

by:

Having searched and not finding what I wanted or perhaps not really knowing what I wanted, I called and talked to Cathy. She was very helpful and knowledgeable. She checked and guided me to a longer shank which will give me a longer turning radius, as the tongue on my trailer is short and is a problem. The unit is a solid piece of equipment. I had a clevis pin from a 1 1/4" shank and thought I would use that and not order another and she advised me that the pin for a 2" shaft is larger and I needed a new one. She was so good and accommodating I even asked for her boss to commend her for her good work and pleasant personality. Jlw

I have a Toyota Tacoma pulling an A-Liner Expedition. Used a Ball and Ball mount from Wal-Mart last year. I upgraded to this and heavier rated Ball, and we noticed an immediate difference.

E-Trailer staff, keep doing what you are doing. Your company and products have just earned a loyal customer. Thank You!!

by:

Well made heavy duty trailer hitch ball mount just what I needed
so the tailgate would clear the jack stand

by:

It is too large to slide into the 2" receiver. I may have to grind off some of the coating ti get it slide in and out easily. There was no pin with the hall mount so I will have to get one.

by:

I was throughly pleased with etrailers quick response and fast shipping. The ball mount I ordered was packaged well, and was good quality.I think I have found a good source for my towing-trailer needs.I'll admit there are not too many moving parts on a ball mount, but they got the job done and treated me right.

Big thank you too everybody at etrailer,

Billy Elkins

by:

Just right for my new trailer.

by:

Received quickly. Happy with unit. The extra length is helpful for backing the trailer into tight areas by keeping the trailer a little further from the truck bumper.

by:

Great fast service.
The new one I purchased
is a 10-1/4" long. My original was 8-1/2". I have a travel trailer and had a heck of a time turning with the 8-1/2". The new 10-1/4" made all the difference. I can turn the trailer without any issues. It has the same rating as my 8-1/2" also. Works great.

by:

WORKS GREAT TAILGATE NOW CLEARS TRAILER JACK

by:

Metal walls thick.
Weld between tubular
piece and plates substantial.

After 1 yr: No rust. Finish still good. Sticker has not faded.
Car parked outside in SC. This was left on about 25% of year.

by:

After I cleared the rust from the bolt holes on the trucks frame (had to chase the threads with a tap) the installation was a snap.

  • Torque Rating for M12 Hardware on Curt C13143 Hitch Installation on 2015 Lexus RX350
Because the torque ratings can change according to the nature of the hardware that Curt sources, we don't publish the torque ratings in case they should change. I've linked to the current installation instructions for the Curt # C13143, the correct torque ratings are listed on page 5, step # 13. If you'll be towing with the hitch, you'll also need a trailer wiring harness like # 118252 for vehicles with the tow package or # 119250KIT for vehicles without the tow package. You'll also need...

  • Why Cant Weight Distribution System be Used on 2018 VW Atlas
A weight distribution system is going to put a lot of stress onto the vehicle and trailer hitch. Typically, when a vehicle manufacturer prohibits a weight distribution system from being used, it simply means that the frame of the vehicle is not designed to handle the additional stress from the system, as it might result in damage to its frame. As long as you remain under the towing capacities of your VW Atlas, it will be perfectly safe to tow your 3,000 pound travel trailer. Using a standard...

According to my Curt representative, there's no record of the existing parking sensors interfering with the installation of the # C13272 Curt Class III hitch or that the parking sensors will interfere with your ability to tow. You'll need the hitch as well as the trailer wiring harness # 118252. If your RX350 has the tow package, the # 118252 would plug into the connector located behind the rear bumper, toward the driver's side. If your RX350 wasn't equipped with the tow package, the connector...

The Weigh Safe # WSFH2-2 is 3 inches wide, so it won't fit. The bracket would be compatible with a standard ball mount like # D-4, and Hitch Pin and Clip, # PC3.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch Fit for 2021 Toyota Highlander Premium Hybrid AWD
The # C99FR Curt hitch will fit your vehicle. In our fit guide, we don't typically specify a vehicle trim level UNLESS a certain trim level will prevent the hitch from being installed. According to Curt, their 13453 Class III hitch we offer as part # C99FR will fit all models of the 2021 Highlander EXCEPT for the XSE model, which has a dual exhaust that prevents the hitch from fitting correctly (although we've had several customers install it on an XSE model without issue). Although the Draw-Tite # 75673 is certainly a fit, you might also consider the Curt # C13410. Both are class III hitches, but when installed the Curt hitch is mostly concealed behind the bumper, as opposed to the Draw-Tite which is fully visible. This adds some complexity to the installation for sure, but once installed it looks much better. For a trailer wiring harness, use the # 118467 from Tekonsha. • Factors to Consider When Picking Out Length of Ball Mount
I would say the shorter you can go without any turning clearance issues will be the safest and best option. The length of the ball mount doesn't typically play a huge factor in ride quality or anything but we have longer ball mounts for trailers that are wider at the nose of the trailer to help get a little more clearance for turning. In theory a longer ball mount would put more leverage on the hitch in terms of tongue weight but most of the time it's not something that's really noticed...
