Video Transcript for Tow Ready 2 Inch Long Shank Hitch Ball Review

What's up everybody, Adam here with etrailer. Today, we're going to be taking a look at the tow-ready hitch ball. So this one is going to be for your two-inch couplers. So just look on your coupler, make sure you have a two-inch before you grab this one. And it is going to have a max gross trailer weight of 7,500 pounds. The things you need to look at whenever you're pairing this up with a ball mount, you just want to make sure that we're not really limiting this.

So we want to kind of match it up to the corresponding capacity of our ball mount, just so it's a good system together, and it can handle everything you want to use it for. So with this, basically, all you need to look for as well with your ball mount. So we want to make sure this plate is not going to be any thicker than inch and no thinner than a half an inch. And the reason for that is the shank, AKA the threaded portion of our ball, is going to be about two and one-eighth inches long. It's going to have a diameter of an inch.

So another thing is the hole on our ball mount, we want to make sure that's an inch as well, just so it's a nice snug fit. And we have a nut on the bottom. It's going to be a one-inch nut, but the socket, you're going to want to grab a inch and a half socket to torque this down. And when it comes to ball mounts, with this one, we're going to want to torque it down to 250 foot pounds, which is a lot. So make sure you have a breaker bar or a torque wrench, whatever, just to make sure that you torque it down properly, just so this thing doesn't come undone whenever you're going down the road.

When it comes to trailer hitch balls, it's just kind of comes down to what size you need, what capacity you need. And when it comes to the finish, it doesn't matter what finish it has unless it's aluminum, it's gonna rust away. So don't expect to grab this ball and not have it rust away every time. There's just so much going on and so much metal on metal contact that it will rust away and that's with any other ball mount. It's still gonna work, but it's not going to look as pretty as it does now.

So if you really wanted to upgrade and prevent that from happening, you can go ahead and grab a aluminum ball. We do have some here, and you can pair that up with an aluminum ball mount, just so nothing's going to rust away. But when anything is made of steel, doesn't matter what kind of coating it is. It will eventually rust away after a year or so of use. When it comes to the trailer hitch balls, really all you need to make sure of is that it's the right size for your trailer. Make sure that it has a big enough rating for the trailers that you plan on hauling. And then we do want to make sure we pair it up with the right ball mount. We have a lot of options, so it shouldn't be that difficult for you guys to find the right setup for you. But this one it's basically kind of covers all those areas. I mean, I don't really haul massive trailers, but with this, it's really perfect for the middle of the road guys, you know, it'll take care for your smaller trailers, but also your bigger trailers. So as long as you take all this information from this video, I really do think this is going to cover a lot of those bases for you guys. And it's going to be a great option for you as well. And that's basically it for our look at the tow-ready hitch ball..

Hmmmm, well then lets see what we can find that will be long enough for you.

The high and strength of this hitch are great. The bushing helps with harsh movements between van and popup, but it does cause a bouncing feel at certain speeds. Quality product otherwise.

by:

We had to change out the receiver as the one I originally order left the hitch ball to close to the bumper. We easy return and very fast delivery. Very customer oriented and great service! Answered all my many questions! Would definitely buy from them again!!

by:

Please add some foam or cardboard box to stop the item from moving around or to stop it from breaking out of the box. Do a better job at protecting the heavy item.Thank You !

Could not find what I needed on line, so I called. Spoke with Paula. She was instrumental in finding what I needed in a short time. My order went out that day. Shipment arrived on time.

No problem with the ball, shaft, or nut working with the hitch. Like the square sides for wrenches.

by:

Just missing the 2" ball.Talk to Madison and it's on its way Tues.Thank You etrailer.

by:

I ordered the Ball Mount Kit for 2" Hitches. My order was delivered fast, but it only came with one ball where two were specified. George and Paula got on it immediately and I received the missing ball in just 3 days. Nice recovery team! I would have given five stars for the product quality, service, and delivery had it been a complete order from the start, but that said, great service!

Perfect fit!

It has been over a year and it is still working great. Have had no problems. Would buy from this company again. Excellent product.

by:

first time I have ever ordered from etrailers,,,,,FANTASTIC SERVICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FAST FAST SHIPPING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! to me 5+ stars all the way around,,, if I ever need anything again and etrailers has it I will order again,,,, could not ask for better,,, I don't get excited about to many companies but etrailers is top notch

by:

The 2" heavy-duty (7500#) ball for my drawbar came today, within a week of ordering it. It was reasonably-priced and should work great. The etrailer video and installation instructions will help me get it torqued to specs. Great service and product line.

by:

Great products and service. I was able to order everything I needed to add a tow hitch and ball to my 2006 Jeep liberty. Very fast shipping. They even called me to verify orders and availability. Clear and easy to follow installation instructions. I hauled an U-Haul trailer from Texas to Ohio without any issues. Even bought a trailer and use it frequently for hardware stoe runs.

by:

Got the trailer far enough back to open my tailgate and working great.

by:

As always, the quality of the products received is high. This is my go to store for vehicle related parts and accessories.

by:

The quality of this product is fantastic and it assembled with no problems and makes my rv / toad I pull a perfect match. I will continue to do business with (etrailer.com) much more in the future. The following photos are of my 1988 Fleetwood Jamboree and my baby (rare 1982 Toyota Corolla Station Wagon) all connected up and the 9" drop towing bar makes my Toyota towing very easy and safe at a level condition with my RV. Also look at the new LED lights installed to dress up my older RV, also purchased from Etrailer.com. I am a happy camper and highly recommend purchasing from them.

by:

Very pretty, it fits perfectly, and I am sure this hitch ball will get the job done.

by:

Thank you for such prompt service. I put this on my Polaris 570 mid size Ranger. The problem was a normal hitch was under the bed and a 2 inch rise was a bit too low for a level trailer. This fixed the problem moving the ball out further and higher. Much easier to hook up. I would recommend your company to others.

by:

Works great!

by:

Love the hitch, ball mount, ball and wiring harness. All were a breeze to install.

by:

Correct item, correct fit, on time. Patient help from Jamie B.

by:

Everything was perfect as usual from e-trailer! All parts were exactly as described.
Thanks!

by:

High quality products and quick service. Even though my order was set to deliver in time for my needs, eTrailer contacted me and offered different options that could arrive even sooner. I thought that was very thoughtful customer service.

by: 11/11/2023

It was a good fit for the ball mount.

by:

I haven't used this often, but did haul a 5x8 trailer 1300 miles, and no issues.

  • Trailer Hitch for 2016 Acura MDX with 19 Inch Spare Tire
None of the hitches we offer for the 2016 Acura MDX will accommodate a spare tire larger than 18 inches. This leaves you with a couple of solutions. If you absolutely need to have the hitch, you can contact your Acura dealer about getting a compact spare (which is what I'd do in your situation). If you only need the hitch for carrying a bike rack, you could use a hatch mounted bike rack instead. Hollywood Racks offers the Over-The-Top 3-bike rack as part # HRF2-3 which would allow you...

Curt trailer hitch # C11391 is a confirmed fit for your 2013 Honda Civic, as is wiring harness # c56011, and Sportframe drawbar # 3593. However you will want a hitch ball with a 3/4" shank diameter like # 19258, which has the 2" diameter ball like the hitch ball you referenced. For a 1-7/8" ball, you will want # 19256. I have included the installation instructions for these parts for you to check out.

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2015 Ford Escape S
We do indeed have trailer hitches that are compatible with your 2015 Ford Escape S. I'd recommend the Draw-Tite Class III trailer hitch, part # 75782, because it has a high 525 lb tongue weight capacity which would come in useful for using hitch mounted accessories such as a cargo carrier like the Curt # C18151. The hitch also has the benefit of being mostly hidden behind the rear bumper. If you'll be towing, you might also need the following to complete your towing set-up. Trailer wiring...

Let's begin with the hitch. Instead of the etrailer # e98855 that you'd looked at, I'd recommend going with the Curt # C64NR. The difference between the two is how visible they are once installed. The # e98855 will be fully visible, the # C64NR will have a concealed hitch crossbar with the only visible portion of the hitch being the receiver tube and the safety chain loops. This provides a much better appearance. You've nailed it with the products needed to add a brake controller. You'll...

Based on the excellent information you provided, the the total tongue weight (tongue weight of trailer plus cargo behind vehicle rear axle) will range between 450-550 lbs. I will proceed on the assumption that your boat trailer has a straight, or pole tongue versus an A-frame as is typical for a boat trailer. So long as you have the needed space between your RAV4 and travel trailer for your bike rack and trikes to fit you can use the Curt Multipurpose Ball Mount with 2" Receiver for Bike Racks and Cargo Carriers # D210. There's no way for me to know how much room you have or if you have the needed space so you'd need to take some measurements, of course, and the # D210 extends 12-1/2" from the hitch pin hole to the hitch ball. If you'll be towing with the hitch, you'll also need a trailer wiring harness like # 118467, a ball mount like # C45030 and a trailer hitch ball like # 19260 for a 1-7/8 or # 63845 for a 2 inch ball.

  • Trailer Hitch Fit Suggestion for 2022 Honda Pilot
I'd be happy to help with that. Because of the way the rear structure of the 2022 Pilot is designed, there isn't a lot of room for the hitch. If your spare tire is mounted on a wheel larger than an 18 inch, the spare tire will no longer fit under the vehicle. This holds true for all the available hitches. The best solution if your Pilot has the 20 inch wheels is to find an 18 inch steel wheel and have a tire mounted on it. It's not the best idea to use a differently sized spare tire, but...

The Curt # C13416 and etrailer # e23ZR are very similar in appearance. The etrailer item # e23ZR has a higher tongue weight capacity at 675 lbs versus 600 lbs for the Curt, but due to the lower towing/tongue weight capacity of the vehicle which on vehicles with the tow package is 3500/385 lbs respectively, the tongue weight capacity differences between the two is moot, because you'll be limited by the capacity of the vehicle itself. The two hitches are visually very similar and would install...

The Curt # C22UR is manufactured in the USA, and has a 3500 lb towing/350 lb tongue weight capacity.
