Correct Ball Mount for Class III CURT Trailer Hitch for 2004 Cadillac SRX to Eliminate Rattle

Question:

I Installed The C13050 Hitch On My 2004 Cadilac SRX - The Problem Is The Ball Mount Fits Loosely In The 2X2 Opening - Causing A Lot of Noise and Play When Towing - The Ball Mount Did Not Come With The Hitch - Does This Hitch Require A Certain Name Brand Ball Mount.

A Class III trailer hitch, like the CURT Hitch, # C13050, for the 2004 Cadillac SRX, does not require a specific ball mount. The one we recommend is # D-4 and Hitch Pin and Clip, # PC3. However, you will want to choose a ball mount based on the rise or drop you need to tow the trailer level. I have included a link to an FAQ article that shows you how to choose the correct ball mount.

If you find that even a different ball mount has too much rattle, you can add an anti-rattle device. I recommend the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch, # RM-061. It works by holding the ball mount tight to the inside of the receiver to eliminate movement. I have included a link to a video review of the Quiet Hitch for you.

The first line of defense against rattle is towing the trailer with the tongue level or slightly low, and having the proper tongue weight.
