I am very pleased with the results of my installation of the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 in my 1998 Toyota T100 using the ETBC6 installation kit. Patrick at etrailer provided information to help me know what to do, and I reviewed etrailer's video entitled "Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2002 Toyota Tundra" several times in preparation for the effort. The video is the most comprehensive of any I could find, showing what to do from beginning to end, even though the vehicle is different from mine. The ETBC6 kit included everything I needed (extremely convenient) except for a 1/2" grommet (which it should include for a few pennies more). The effort required about 5 hours. The most difficult part was determining which wire on the T100's Brake Switch (Green with White Stripe) to attach the red wire to from the Prodigy P2 because the Brake Switch is located in a very difficult location that could not be easily probed.

Weve used it several times throughout the past year and it works perfectly. I wouldnt pull a trailer without it.

by:

Already had a 7-way without brake controller and 12v power wires. Ordered this kit because it came with everything I needed but was cheaper than the ETBC7.

by:

Easy to install, great to have both 4 pin and 6 pin for variety of trailers.

by:

Good product at good price, and great support

by:

Product was as specified. Video tutorials made install easy. If you have any problems these guys are right on the ball. Can't say that enough.

by:

Everything in my kit was of great quality and most importantly I received it promptly after placing my order. The sales rep was very knowledgeable and very professional.

Thank you Cathy.

  • Brake Controller and 6-Way Socket Installation in 2015 Honda CR-V
The Bunkhouse trailer website does not provide wiring specs for their motorcycle-friendly camper trailers like their King LX Camper Base, nor does it indicate anything about these trailers having electric drum brakes. Usually a 6-way wiring set-up uses round connectors like the trailer-side plug # PK11604 and vehicle-side socket # PK11609. A trailer brake controller such as the Popular Prodigy P2 # 90885 can be installed in your 2015 CR-V by first installing a 4-pole wiring harness...

  • Installing Hopkins Agility Brake Controller Part # HM47294 in 2005 Dodge Dakota with No Tow Package
Hopkins does not offer a universal plug for the Agility Brake Controller. Your best bet would be to order the controller and harness combination you referenced, and cut off the vehicle end of the plug as you mentioned. The bare leads on the end of the harness would then be hardwired into the vehicle. We offer a Hardwired Brake Controller Install Kit, part # ETBC7 for a 7-way trailer connector, or # ETBC6 for a 6-way. The install kit provides the adapter to convert a 4-pole connector to...

  • Wiring a Brake Controller on a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban
Your 1999 Chevrolet Suburban does not have a port under the dash to connect a brake controller harness. You will need to hardwire the Prodigy controller with brake controller 7 and 4-way installation kit, item # ETBC7, or a 6 and 4-way installation kit, item # ETBC6, depending on the connector you need for your trailer. These kits come with everything needed to install the brake controller and wiring from scratch as long as you have a 4-way connector installed on your Suburban. If you...

In order to install a brake controller and a 6-Way connector on a 2007 Ford Explorer that has a factory 4-Way you will need 2 items. First you will need the brake controller itself. I recommend the Tekonsha P2, # 90885, because it is one of our best selling controllers because it is easy to use and set up. Then you will need installation kit # ETBC6. This kit is needed because all of the wiring is not ran to the back of an Explorer that has the 4-Way. I have included some links that will...

  • Brake Controller Installation on 1979 GMC Jimmy
A brake controller like the Tekonsha PowerTrac # 39523 you mentioned is not a vehicle specific item. A brake controller can be installed in just about any vehicle. You would need a brake controller installation kit, part # ETBC7 if you needed a 7-way trailer connector or # ETBC6 for a 6-way connector. The install kits include everything necessary to install a brake controller, including the 7 or 6-way trailer connector that is designed to adapt an existing 4-pole trailer connector. If...

One option for you to have power to all of your trailers electrical functions is to use the 6-Pole Square Trailer Wiring Connector Kit (Car and Trailer Ends), item # 37995, and splice into your vehicles 4-way wiring for the taillights and hard wire the two remaining circuits. • Brake Controller Install on 1997 Chevrolet Pickup
This is a fairly straightforward install. GM has already run some of the necessary wiring from the rear frame rail area to the engine compartment, so you will see a blue wire for the electric brake function, and an orange wire which provides 12 volt power for trailer accessories like a breakaway kit near the end of the driver side frame rail. The orange and blue wires at the rear of the truck would attach to the appropriate poles on the 7-way trailer connector on the rear bumper. You can...

  • Is Brake Controller Install Kit, Part ETBC7 Needed to Install Brake Controller on 1998 Suburban?
On your model year, in some instances GM ran a orange and blue wire from under the brake master cylinder to the rear of the vehicle, along the drivers side frame rail. If this wiring is in place, all of the rest of the connections must be wired into the vehicle. I usually recommend using the Brake Controller Installation Kit anyway. The kit includes the trailer connector, circuit breakers, hardware and wire. You most likely will not need all of the wire in the kit, but as a matter of convenience...

If all you need is trailer light functions this would be all that you would need. If instead you need to control the brakes of your trailer you would need the # ETBC6 instead of the # 37175. Yes, we have an adapter that converts the 4 pole connector to a 6 and 4-way connector, it is Adapter 4 Pole to 6 Pole and 4 Pole Trailer Wiring Adapter, part 37175. If your vehicle currently has 4 pole wiring it will work perfectly on your 1998 Chevrolet CK Series Pickup Truck. If you do not have a 4-way connector on your vehicle you would need the Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, part # 118315, that will plug directly to your factory wiring.
