Epicord 7-Way Molded Trailer Plug with Junction Box - 10' Long - 277-000141

Average Customer Rating:  4.7 out of 5 stars   (244 Customer Reviews)

by:

The product is very nice real heavy duty but I must of wired it wrong because the brakes were on all the time as I was driving down the highway and cooked all 4 bearings and destroyed all 4 brake pads

by:

The trailer plug/junction boxes worked out very well! Using them made it a lot easier to rewire the trailer.

by:

I installed this product yesterday and it is a really nice product. It would be a great product if the darn wire colors from the plug were the same as the industry standard. But if you go by what is on the small mount that the wires screwed to it is accurate.

I got the longer 10' cable as I wanted to mount it further back than the stock metal electrical box that they mount all the stuff in from the factory. I ended up mounting it on the bottom side of the cross braces on the bottom side of the trailer.

I also installed a seperate fuse box to individually fuse all the circuits so that if anything on the trailer shorted out it wouldn't blow the fuses in the truck.

I loved that I got the longer replacement so I was able to move it to a more easier place to access.

by:

Little over a year since install and no problem thus far with this product. The rubber grommets supplied with it keeps everything water tight. Wires are not colored coordinated! I overlooked that detail in product description and had to rewire everything, lol.

Actually, theres more than one accepted wire color convention when it comes to trailer wiring color codes which is why we list the function for each terminal/wire color in the product description.

by:

Very disappointed that the plug molding is too long for my truck's factory plug outlet. Look at it wrong and it'll fall out of the outlet. I tried trimming it down so the door would hold the cable catch, but the rubber is too soft.

by:

It was just as expected. Good quality and no hidden issues.

For everyone else’s essay, the studs are 5mm. So, for the best fit grab you some 5mm heat shrink ring terminals. 1/4in for the mounting hardware. This went on my boat trailer, so I grabbed some stainless steel 1/4in hardware and used nylon lock nuts. I used extension cord for my wire runs. A grounded extension cord will give you your 3 wire runs for the tail lights, a standard 2 blade extension cord for any marker/running lights. Heatshrink adhesive butt connectors on all connections. The wiring info that ETrailer provides was correct for my 2019 F150.

Overall makes for a solid trailer light setup. Highly recommend this junction box.

by:

Used this to convert a trailer from 4 pin to 7 blade connector so that I could add brakes. Gives a nice place to terminate your wires. The wire color guide on the product page was very helpful when it came to wiring up the trailer. Plan on putting some type of sealant around the wires because unless you use a large 7 conductor wire there will be a gap where water could get in.

by:

This is worth every penny as far as im concerned. Makes wiring up everything on trailer from plug to tail light so much easier. The junxtion box also makes finding shorts easier since it is the hub for all accessories.

by:

This product is great!! It is probably overkill for my little utility trailer but I was tired of re-wiring it for shorts in the crappy standard wire that came with the light sets. This junction box feels very sturdy and has the cable/plug is very hefty as well. Easy to setup. The colors didn't match what my car was but it is very simple to swap the terminals to what you need. I forgot to take more pictures through out my install.

by:

Last project built. Used etrailer for almost all parts, 7 pin wiring harness, junction box, tail lights, jacks vent cover and so. Love the leveling jacks. Friend wants one now so started another one. I will be getting all the parts from etrailer...

by:

This is a great part It made wiring
in
the trailer very easy. It fit underneath the gooseneck and mounted up real nice. I recommend it to anyone that needs to rewire their trailer.

by:

I needed to completely rewire my landscape trailer because of the poor quality of the original components. This is quality hardware. The only issue I had was the color/functions of the new component did not exactly match with the color/functions on my trailer. It was not a difficult issue to overcome.

by:

I do business with many prevailers but I have yet to find one equal to E trailer. They are fantastic people to do business with and quality parts. Thanks for being in there.

by:

Great all in one unit

by:

I just finished mounting this to my trailer frame and it really seems to be a top notch product. It's so much cleaner looking and sealed connections.

by:

I took delivery today and installed it onto the body of my slide in camper immediately. Installation was simple and effective. There's multiple slots for every applications. Everything works great.

by:

Absolute Garbage!!! Why would they not follow the 7 pin color code?? Red is reverse, green is running, brown is left blinker, yellow is right blinker??? Why would etrailer sell this garbage?

by:

Cord was excellent. I was concerned about the wiring of the plug, but the wiring was completely compatible with my 2015 Ford Expedition and Airstream Trailer. (Yellow auxiliary center wire) No changing around of colors on the wire ends. Great!! It would be nice if Etrailer also sold this cord without the box, as I have a great box inside the Airstream for wiring, and had to remove the box to run the cord through the frame tube. But, for the price of the entire product, the box was really a nice "gift" for those who need it. Thanks, Etrailer.

It was very well made and we have had NO problems with it. Thanks.

by:

Paul was Fantastic !!! Great customer service !!

by:

STOP!!! Wiring colors are non-standard.

The
wiring colors do not match the standard. All of the colors are there, they are just rearranged. I hooked it up thinking that it was a color to color matchup like EVERY other product for 7-pin connectors and now I have to replace a special $xx fuse in my truck that I cannot get for 2 days. Not to mention the troubleshooting time.

There are standards for a reason, the products that you sell should adhere to them, or be clearly marked that they DO NOT. Simply listing the colors and hoping that someone notices they're wrong when they're ordering is insufficient.

I have 7 trailers and all of them follow the standard, except this one now.

by:

Can you provide a pin out / wire color vs location on the 7 way plug Epicord 7-Way Molded Trailer Plug with Junction Box - 10' Long - 277-000141 I ordered. I'm seeing several installs where the wire color on this plug dose NOT match standard trailer wire color. Also it did not come with any paper work or instructions stating this. Example yellow is standard trailer for left turn. This 7 way plug looks to maybe use yellow for aux power going by other install photos and research.

This will be a major set back as my trailer has already been compleated and went by standard trailer wire color. ?????

There is more than one accepted color code/wiring convention for a 7-way trailer connector. The color code for the Epicord 7-way plug/junction box is as follows: °White ground: 10 gauge °Black 12V power: 10 gauge °Yellow reverseauxiliary: 14 gauge °Red left turn and stop: 14 gauge °Green tail and running lights: 14 gauge °Brown right turn and stop: 14 gauge °Blue brake: 12 gauge. This is shown on the product description page on our website.

by:

Excellent product one more step to simplify our trailer building process

by:

Very happy with this product. I'm looking forward to installing it on my trailer. Very solid and well made.

by:

This new cable and distribution box will make the wiring job quick and easy. Trailer previously had a 4-wire system (no brakes) and was not up to current standards for lighting, so I'm replacing everything electrical and adding the brakes. This will help immensely.

This project turned out great! I really like buying from etrailer. They always have what I need, along with great customer service and fast shipping.

by:

Love the 7 way barrel plug! Was easy to mount the junction box and connect the correct wires to the terminals once ring lugs were attached to the wires. Great light/brake trailer system cable and box!!!

Love etrailer.com!!!

  • Wiring Needed To Rewire A Sled Bed Enclosed Snowmobile Trailer
For your sled bed enclosed snowmobile trailer, the first place to start when rewiring is with a junction box, like the Epicord 7-Way Molded Trailer Plug with Junction Box # 277-000141. To install this, you will need to pick a location on your trailer frame that allows the 10' 7-way lead to reach the front of the trailer. For the remainder of the wiring you can use # 10-1-1 which you'd run for your ground, 12v accessory, and brake output. For the the lighting, you can use the Bonded...

  • Parts Needed to Convert Brakes on M105A2C Trailer
I don't have much information on the M105A2C but I imagine it isn't far off from the M105A2. The existing brakes are likely air over hydraulic. You can stick with hydraulic and convert to electric over hydraulic but I recommend switching to electric brakes. This is the option most people choose when converting the brakes on these trailers. I'm not 100% sure on your axle but from what I was able to find it looks like it isn't over 7,000 lbs. Assuming that is true, and your drums are in...

  • Parts Needed to Re-Wire Tandem Axle Gooseneck Trailer for 7-Way Type Operation
We can help you re-wire your tandem axle gooseneck trailer to have a 7-way plug to match your tow vehicle. Have a look at the linked article on trailer wiring. Typically a white wire is used for ground. There are several ways a 7-way can be wired so you will want to ensure that each circuit on the vehicle socket is correctly matched to the appropriate circuit wiring on the trailer. Testing the trailer light functions with a spare 12V battery can make this identification easier. You can...

  • How To Switch from Surge to Electric Brakes On Boat Trailer

I recommend the Electric Trailer Brake Kit part # AKEBRK-35-SA with Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly part # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K. The only other thing you'll need is the Trailer Wiring 7-Way Upgrade Kit part # 277-000141. In order to confirm the axle capacity, the best way is to look for the axle tag but you can also measure the bearings. The size of the axle tube cannot really be used for torsion axles unfortunately.

  • Can I Use My 7-Way Truck Wiring To Wire My Lance Camper Harness To My 2018 Ram 3500
I found the owner's manual for your 2019 Lance 850 and it does recommend to use 8 gauge wire with their proprietary connector. Using the 8 gauge wire from truck battery to the camper ensures you have adequate amperage to the accessories in your camper. Since the vehicle's current wiring for the 7-way is not 8 gauge wire I do not recommend splicing into that wiring to install the camper's plug onto the vehicle. I recommend wiring the Lance vehicle plug into the truck separately or take...

We don't carry any 7 way flat adapters or specific 4 way vehicle to 7 way trailer adapter. My recommendation is to transition your trailer to a 7 Way Standard using the Epicord 7-Way Molded Trailer Plug with Junction Box - 10' Long # 277-000141 and ring terminals # 44-5310A. Then you can use an adapter like # 30717. If you are going to be regularly pulling a trailer with brakes, I recommend upgrading your vehicle system with the # ETBC7 and a brake controller like # 90195.

Actually, using the Timbren Axle-Less suspension like the # A35RS545E would be an excellent place to start. It's not necessary, but many will join both axle assemblies using a 2x2 steel tube to tie both sides together for stability. Each assembly includes the Suspension/Spindle assembly, the 10 inch hub/drum and the electric brake assembly. A 4-way round connector that attaches to a charge circuit is not a standard 4-way wiring at this time. We won't have a way to create 7-way to 4-way that attaches to the charge circuit. • Trailer Brakes Not Functioning But Will Work When Break Away Pin is Pulled
By trying a second trailer, you've pretty well eliminated your tow vehicle as being the issue. My suspicion is that the trailer connector on the trailer is either damaged or corroded which is preventing the signal from the brake controller from reaching the trailer brakes. The fact that the brakes work normally with the break away pin pulled would tend to back this up, as the break away system connects in downstream of the trailer connector. If you need to replace the 7-way connector on...

For 10 gauge wire to use for the brake output circuit and 12 volt accessory you'd want the part # 10-1-1 which we sell by the foot.
