Thoroughly Tested for Safety

This hub-and-drum assembly meets the requirements for certification by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). The CSA creates standards, which when complied with ensure a safe and quality product. This assembly underwent extensive testing to measure stopping distances when braking. This assembly has also been tested by QAI for braking performance in a complete automotive setup and under real-world conditions to provide the most realistic scenario for the everyday driver.

E-Z Lube and Easy Grease-Compatible Assembly for Simple Lubrication

The grease cap on this hub-and-drum assembly is specially designed to work with your Dexter E-Z Lube or etrailer Easy Grease axle to make lubricating bearings quick and easy. Just remove the plug on the grease cap, attach a grease gun to the zerk fitting on the end of the spindle, and inject the grease. It will flow easily to both inner and outer bearings. Not only does this make lubricating the bearings easy, but it also helps to prevent corrosion of the hub. This is because you can lubricate the bearings without the mess of taking apart the entire assembly.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Exactly what I needed. Good quality. fits perfect on my Snowfire trailer!!!

Great!!!

by:

Couldn't have been easier!, Straight out of the box and onto the axle. Getting my axle buddies on there. Took a little bit of banging around but they seem to be spinning. True and definitely an improvement over the broken Coleman studs I had before.

by:

I just now completed changing out and adding the new hubs and brakes on my trailer. The only issue or difficulty was my error in ordering the correct hubs/brake drums. The return was properly handled and the new parts arrived in a timely manner. All I have left to check on is the functionality once install my brake controller in my truck. I would make additional purchases from etrailer.

by:

I received within 4 days the wheel hub (with bearings and seal) together with backing plates that contained brake shoes and braking magnets. They installed perfectly on my Coleman popup trailer. Prices were reasonable. In fact the electric backing plate assemblies cost less than a previously purchased set of braking magnets.
Thanks for helping me get on the road again!
Keith

by:

One question, does the magnet go on the top or bottom, I have seen them displayed both ways. I have already installed them with the magnets on the top. The right and left references looking forward, I presume..

by:

I installed these hubs and drums 1 years ago and in that time we have taken our camper on 12 trips locally (about 120 miles round trip each) and one big trip from Louisiana to Colorado and back which was close to 3,000 miles total. These hubs and bearing have performed perfectly. The drive to Colorado was 24 hours one way and the hubs never got hot. Everything was a perfect fit too.

E trailer did a fantastic job.
Before
order: Technical support / help was excellent.
Goal, conversion of a 1998 Floe snowmobile trailer from surge to electric brakes.
Problem, due to time and corrosion, I could only supply partial part numbers, spindle diameter.
etrailer did a fantastic job, researching, and getting me the correct part numbers, so I could order.
Julie did a great job.
She was very timely, communicated clearly and honestly, and just “kept me in the loop”.

I received the order came on the projected date, complete and undamaged. Excellent.
I would highly recommend etrailer, for your part needs.

by:

product worked just like it should . The video on youtube made installation a snap . Even with a snafu at the warehouse of the wrong bearings being shipped one phone call to the very helpful rep led to a quick resolution . I have dealt with etrailer before and am very satisfied with their products and service .

by:

Seems to be very good quality. These hubs/drums fit the Dexter axle of my pop up camper perfectly. I like that they came with races, bearings and seals. The races were already properly installed.

by:

I now have 9780+ miles on this item.
I
am going to replace the bearings. They still roll but one is getting a tick. About to go out. I guess I'd rather change them now as opposed to a 1000 miles from home.

by:

I have used etrailer several times and the experience is always the same... the correct parts at a fair price and delivered when they said it would be.

by:

Fit and function are great. Price and quality are spot on. I will be ordering from etrailer next time I need parts.

by:

Everything looks good and price was great!
Installation
still to come so will update after install.

by:

Worked well for our 1800lb pop up camper. Install was pretty simple.

by:

Work as advertised for my trailer build.

by:

The 7 x 1-3/4-inch hydraulic brakes we offer, all shown on the linked page, are typically intended for axles rated for 2500-lbs, such as left- and right-hand brake kit # 23-398-399 from Dexter. The Steel Solid Center Trailer Wheel # AM20053 that you referenced is not compatible with the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # AKHD-545-2-EZ-2K due to the difference in bolt pattern. For a wheel that is compatible with the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # AKHD-545-2-EZ-2K you would want the Steel Trailer Wheel # AM20046 which has the 10 inch x 6 inch rim and uses the 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern. • Parts to Add Electric Brakes to 2015 Marine Trailer with Tandem 2K Axles
Your combination of equipment is a bit confusing as the 10" wheels and 4,500 lb GVWR sounds like your axle capacity should be 2,000 lbs since you have a tandem axle setup. Even the idler hubs for 3,500 lb axle are normally used for 13" to 15" wheels. If you do in fact have 2K axles then here are the parts you need to add brakes to your axles: - Electric Trailer Brake Kit # AKEBRK-2 (1 per axle - these will fit with 10" wheels) - Hub and Drum Assembly # AKHD-545-2-EZ-2K (comes with...

  • Brake and Hub/Drum Recommendations for a 2K Axle on a Boat Trailer
To install the Brake Mounting Flange # 4-34 on your 2,000 lb axle you'll need to have an experienced welder/trailer shop do the installation for you as they would know the best placement for the flange. We don't do that kind of installation so I don't have any info regarding the placement of the flange. You can definitely get a new axle with a flange pre-installed but that's something you'll need to talk with a trailer shop about as the dimensions you took aren't standard. I also recommend...

Before purchasing anything you need to determine the correct one which you can easily do by checking the bearings once you have the trailer.
