Recommended Item for Boat trailers saltwater environments!!!

by:

I use this boat trailer exclusively in the ocean, and after one year these stainless steel brake components are performing beautifully. I replaced everything down to the spindle, and the before photo shows what seawater does to inferior components. Expensive but more than worth it in safety and performance.

by:

So it's been a year now, and I love it! With saltwater boating, there's already enough things to worry about breaking, so it's nice to have the peace-of-mind of knowing that I don't have to worry about my corroding brake parts. Sure, it's expensive, but after replacing a few rotors, the break-even point is quickly realized. After one year, they still work well and look great.

by:

The stainless steel rotors and stainless steel brake pads were delivered on time and in good condition. Installation went smoothly and the brakes are working well. The trailer will be dunked in saltwater regularly so stainless steel should not rust like the previous pads. The old pads still had plenty of wear left but they rusted and the pads separated from the backing plate. The outside pads fell completely out of the caliper. If given the opportunity will provide an update after some use.

by:

Should have bought these this first time! I bought Kodiak dacromet coated rotors three years ago and had to replace them due to corrosion. Rotors calipers and pads are immersed in salt water weekly and even though I always wash everything to flush salts off rotors and pads still fell apart. However SS calipers are spotless with no rust so I finally broke down and spent the extra money on SS all the way

by:

Parts were in perfect condition and packing box looked like barely touched ( no damage) Thanks for the great service!! Aloha from Oahu hawaii!!

  • Replacement Parts Available for Kodiak Disc Brake Kit K2R35D
Yes, replacement parts are available for Kodiak disc brake kit # K2R35D. For calipers you can use # KDBC225DAC for dacromet or # KDBC225S for stainless steel. Both come in quantities of 1 and are for 3,500 to 6,000 pound axle Kodiak disc brake kits. For brake pads you can use # K225CP for Kodiak disc brake kits for 3,500 to 6,000 pound axles. There is also a rebuild kit, # KDBC225KIT. For a rotor (this kit has rotors that fit over idler hubs) you can use # KR10D for dacromet or # KR10S...

  • Replacement Stainless Steel Rotors for Disc Brakes
I couldn't find too much information on your current brakes but if they're 10 inch rotors that slide over hubs then part # KR10S works as a stainless steel replacement. You can also use part # K2R35S as a kit that includes the calipers, brackets, and bolts.

  • Fit And Compatibility Of The Kodiak 10" Rotor With The UFP DB35 Brakes
Yes! The Kodiak 10" Rotor # KR10S will fit on your UFP DB35 axle/brake setup. If you're needing a complete left and right side, the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # K2HR35DS will work great as well. This kit includes 2 corrosion-resistant, Dacromet-plated hub-and-rotor assemblies, as well as stainless steel calipers and dacromet mounting brackets.

  • How to Convert a Kodiak Over-the-Hub Brake Kit to a Stainless Kit for a 3,500 lb Axle
For a stainless steel caliper to match what you currently have you would want the part # KDBC225S. For the stainless rotor with a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern, part # KR10S. For the stainless mounting bracket part # KCMB10RS. All of these components have the same dimensions as your current setup so they would clear your 13 inch rim.

  • Will Kodiak Trailer Hub for 3,500-lb Axles Fit Dexter 80043A Spindle On Boat Trailer
From what I have found, the Dexter 80043A spindle on your trailer matches your standard 3,500 lb axle bearings and grease seal. It uses a # L68149 inner and # L44649 outer bearing with a # 58846 grease seal. This is also true for the Kodiak Trailer Hub for 3,500-lb Axles # KH84545S which means they will fit and work for your stainless steel upgrade on your boat trailer. These are compatible with rotors like the # KR10S.

  • 10" Stainless Steel Replacement Rotors For Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # K2R35D Dacromet Rotors
Yes, the Kodiak 10" Rotor Stainless Steel # KR10S can be used to replace the Dacromet coated rotors that come with the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # K2R35D. You will not have to replace the caliper but I do recommend upgrading to the Kodiak Ceramic Brake Pads w/Stainless Steel Backing Plate # K225CPSS.

  • Is Kodiak Rotor part # KR10S Sold Individually
The part # KR10S is for a single stainless steel rotor. If you needed a pair you would have to order a quantity of 2. The same applies to the part # KR10D except this is a Dacromet coated rotor. Dacromet is corrosion resistant, but no steel is more corrosion resistant than stainless steel.

  • Will Replacing Hub/Rotor with Hub Over Rotor Push Out the Wheels On One Axle
In order to install the Kodiak 10" Rotor part # KR10S on a 3,500 lb axle you'll need the Trailer Idler Hub Assembly part # AKIHUB-545-35-G-EZ-K. This would then work just fine with the Kodiak 225 Calipers. That said, if you were only running idler hubs without brakes on the other axle there could indeed be an offset. I don't think this would cause an issue or really even be noticeable but you could use spacers as you mentioned but we do not offer these.

  • Can Dacromet Disc Brake Assembly Be Upgraded Later With Stainless Steel Rotor
If you purchase a Kodiak Disc Brake Assembly like part # K1HR35D that has Dacromet plating, you can upgrade the components to stainless steel at a later date. The stainless steel disc brake assembly I recommend is part # K2HR35DS. If you decide at a later date to go with a stainless steel rotor, part # KR10S would work well with the brakes. Please keep in mind that purchasing any of the brake parts separately does wind up costing you more in the long run, but I do understand upgrading...
