Video Transcript for Kodiak Tires and Wheels KALN1375S Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Kodiak 1/2" by 20 Stainless Steel Acorn Trailer Wheel Lug Nut. This is designed to fit 1/2" diameter wheel studs. It is a normal right hand thread, and it has 20 threads per inch. If you notice on the bottom here, it has the standard 60 degree taper, that's designed to fit 60 degree taper of the lug hole on the wheel. Now, this is a nice stainless steel construction, it's very durable, rust proof and corrosion resistant. Now, the head size on this is 13/16", and just to show here is a socket of 13/16" size, and you can see it fits perfectly just like that on to the head of the lug nut.

Now this part number is for quantity of one lug nut, and the length from the very bottom to the top of this, when put a ruler on it, is going to be right at 1 9/16". That should do it for the review of the Kodiak 1/2" by 20 Stainless Steel Acorn Trailer Wheel Lug Nut.

These wheels went on an R&R 20'car hauler trailer. Exactly what I was looking for.

by:

Great replacement lug nut. Just installed with my boat trailer tires but have used them on my RV for replacements lugs for years now. Etrailer is great.

by:

Seems good, I spun the chrome cap off on the manufacturers installed lug nuts.
road service call. Won't happen with the stainless lug nuts

by:

Excellent products and fast shipping, I exclusively purchase my trailer parts from Etrailer for this reason.

by:

Quality, heavy lug nuts. Provided me with exactly the amount of surface area I wanted in order to use an impact wrench on the lugs. Thanks for the assistance in locating the right lug nuts.

These lug nuts require the use of a torque wrench when tightening. DO NOT rely on an impact wrench even when done by a professional.

Best customer service ever!!!!!
Was
trying to get boat ready for a trip to the coast and found that the original brake pad backing had deteriorated due to saltwater. I also found I had two wheel seals leaking. Got on etrailer.com and found the parts I needed with ease. I ordered everything I needed and had them overnighted at 4:36pm on a Tuesday. Customer service called 30 minutes later to apologize and said that my order was placed after the orders for the day had been sent out. They promised they would do everything they could but it would probably be the next day before they could send them out and I might not get them until Thursday. I completely understood and was not upset. Well, the next morning (Wednesday) by 10am my parts were sitting on my porch!!!! Not sure how they made it happen but thank you to whoever did.
The parts were top notch and the stainless steel backing brake pads and stainless lug nuts were just why I needed!
Top notch and will never buy trailer parts from anywhere else. Thank you and now I’m going fishing a day early!
Boats in the water thanks to etrailer!

Replaced all our lug nuts on our 5th wheel with these. They are a huge improvement to the weird shelled nuts that come standard on most trailers. Arrived quickly in the correct quantity. Will be purchasing more for our other trailers.

by:

Great customer service! One of the twenty lug nuts that I purchased was slightly oversized. I emailed etrailer (on Sunday!), and received an immediate response indicating that a replacement would be shipped on the next day. Kudos to the etrailer team!

by:

Excellent and prompt service, as always.

by:

So far, so good. I like the stainless steel version of just about anything......Including lug nuts.

by:

I didn't want rusty lug nuts... picked these up to go with the new wheels... 1 year later, they still look new!

by:

Excellent product! I have had these installed on my tandem axel trailer and repeatedly dipped in saltwater, not a spec of corrosion can be seen anywhere. They hold their shine and look just like the day I installed them. I paired them with the Kodiak SS Hubs SS Rotors and SS brakes after my original brake corroded and failed. The Kodiak SS components are worth every penny for saltwater corrosion resistance!

by:

Delivery was fast and nuts work fine but they were all marred and one had actually been used before. You can see the marks from the wrench/socket that was on it. For the money, these items should not be thrown loose into a box.

Great job.. Thanks for the help with the RV lugs.

by:

These are the only stainless steel lug nuts that we could find that would cover the lugs on our the new hubs we purchased for our new sailboat trailers. Because of the proximity to the Pacific Ocean, we really wanted stainless steel.

We built five new trailers, so we needed 10 lug nuts per trailer, for a total of 50 lug nuts. When we received them, we took the time to polish the dull sides, so that the sides were as bright as the rest of the nut. Fortunately, we had access to industrial polishing equipment, so this was as difficult as it would be for the typical buyer.

The lug nuts have a very positive effect on the overall look of the trailer, particularly the wheels, which are galvanized steel. I recommend these lug nuts for anyone who wants to really improve the appearance of their trailer and are concerned about corrosion. If you do buy them, it is absolutely critical that you use anti-seize paste when you screw on the lug nuts for the first time.

I am giving the product three stars instead of five because of the extra work we had to do to polish the dull sides of the lug nuts.

by:

All good. The box packaging was certainly better for the lug nuts.

by:

So far so good. They are solid. I used an impact to put them on with 1 ugga Dugga then torqued them to 120 pounds. I did add some high temp copper anti-seize as well. See how they do after a winter in Minnesota

They still look like new a year later. 100 glad I purchased them.

by:

Excellent quality! These are solid stainless steel. No cheap chrome plating. So much nicer than the rusted factory lug nuts I replaced. Worth the money!

by:

This product is very nice and I don't have to worry about any rust.

by:

I ordered these Stainless Steel Lug Nuts at the same time I purchased a new set of tires and wheels for my boat trailer. They look so much better than the old rusty chrome plated lug nuts that were on there before. Since they are stainless steel, I don't think I will need to replace them again.

by:

Very well made and fast shipping

by:

I was uncertain if they would fit on the Kodiak hub which is listed as having two inch studs; I was pleased to find that they are long enough to reach the bottom of the stud on the Kodiak hub Q-HUB84545. I also purchased one of the less expensive Americana stainless acorn nuts so I could compare before I bought 20 for my tandem trailer. The Americana nuts are longer and also fit the Kodiak hub, but they are constructed as two pieces pressed together, which worried me about longevity and potential mechanical damage. These Kodiak nuts are made of one solid piece of stainless and look like they should outlast the trailer.

by:

The lug nuts I ordered from etailer arrived as promised. etrailer is the only provider I found who had the lug nuts I needed in stainless steel. I have both an RV and a boat trailer and this attribute is necessary to prevent the corrosion on my current lug nuts. Ordering from etrailer was easy and convenient. Thanks!

by:

Very well made and sturdy. The clean design is attractive, but the form follows function. I am confident I will remain satisfied with this lug nuts over time and not have to deal with rust problems.

These lug nuts have worked out very well for us. I wanted something that was attractive, tough and rust proof. These lug nuts have worked out perfectly. Excellent value.

  • Correct Wheel Stud and Lug Nuts for 15 inch Aluminum Trailer Wheel
The Karrier ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire with 15" Aluminum Wheel # AM32669 fits 1/2"-20 bolts so you'll need something like the Kodiak # K12WB2 which is 2" long. It's best to compare this stud length with what you currently have to ensure everything fits properly. Attached is a photo with the dimensions for you to check out. For a lug nut I recommend the Kodiak Stainless Steel # KALN1375S which is longer so that it will fit properly with the aluminum wheel that you have.

  • 1/2 inch Lug Nuts Without Metal Sheath
We do! Check out the Kodiak Stainless Steel 1/2" Lug Nut # KALN1375S. Not only does it have the better stainless material, but it is a single piece that doesn't use the metal sheath as you said you don't like. I'm also attaching a link to our 1/2" lug nut selection for you to filter through if you'd like to see what else we have. Keep in mind this link doesn't let me filter so that the ones with the metal sheath are hidden but you'll be able to easily see this from our photos.

  • Recommended Wheel Lug Nuts for a 1-2/"-20 Wheel Stud 2009 Ca
Since the Dexstar Steel Mini Mod Trailer Wheel - 15" x 6" Rim - 5 on 4-1/2 - Silver Powder Coat # AM20537 is meant to work with 1/2"-20 wheel studs, you can use the Kodiak Trailer Wheel Lug Nut - Stainless Steel - 1/2" # KALN1375S. These lug nuts are 1/2"-20 compatible, made from stainless steel, and measure 1-9/16" long.

  • Recommended Lug Nuts For 1/2"-20 Wheel Studs
The 1/2"-20 lug nut that I would recommend is the Kodiak Trailer Wheel Lug Nut # KALN1375S. The reason I recommend this lug nut is because it is a one piece, stainless steel design. So it is going to be the most durable and allow you to use impact tools to put on and remove.

  • Can Kodiak Stainless Steel Lug Nuts # KALN1375S be Used on Aluminum Wheels
You can certainly use stainless steel lug nuts like the Kodiak # KALN1375S that you referenced on aluminum trailer wheels. Typically the only precaution you would need to take with aluminum wheels is making sure you get lug nuts that are bit longer than standard lug nuts so they stick out far enough to be loosened/tightened. These particular lug nuts should meet that requirement. These will fit 1/2"-20 wheel studs and they have an overall length of 1-9/16 inches. I have attached a short...

  • Will Westlake ST225/75R15 Radial Tire w Aluminum Wheel # LH36FR Fit 2014 Jayco Eagle 338
Since you have Dexter axles that have a 6 lug bolt pattern then the Westlake ST225/75R15 Radial Tire w 15" Liger Aluminum Wheel # LH36FR is going to fit and work well. If your tire size is 225/75R15 then this would work great as a spare. Sounds like you have jacketed lug nuts which are known to swell over time and eventually can break like what you described. We have solid lug nuts like the part # KALN1375S which is solid stainless steel and fits the common trailer wheel stud size of 1/2 inch.

  • Recommended Wheel and Tire Package For a Single Axle Boat Trailer Used With Several Highway Miles
I recommend the Karrier ST215/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire with 14" Aluminum Wheel # AM32195 for your boat trailer. The Tire # AM10229 has a radial construction which increases life when used on the highway. It is load rated for up to 1,870lbs per tire and has a speed rating of 81mph. The Aluminum Wheel will resist corrosion better than coated steel wheels and since the aluminum is a better heat exchanger it will keep temps in the tire cooler and increase tread life. • Difference Between the Higher and Lower Priced Trailer Lug Nuts
The more expensive lug nuts like the part # KALN1375S and # LHLR103 are made of stainless steel and the lower priced ones like # AM90049 are chrome plated. Stainless steel does not rust or corrode so it's the best choice. Chrome plated lugs will eventually rust which normally manifests as the sockets stop fitting the lugs properly as the corrosion causes the lugs to "swell" and make them hard to deal with and eventually cause failure. If at all possible the stainless options are the way to go.

The Aluminum Sendel Series T02 Machined Trailer Wheel - 15" x 6" Rim - 5 on 4-1/2 # AM22653 comes with only the wheel so if you're needing lug nuts and a center cap you'll need to acquire those separately. For lug nuts I recommend the Stainless Steel # KALN1375S because they will do an amazing job resisting rust and corrosion over your standard lug nuts, then for a center cap I recommend the Americana # AM90175 which is also stainless steel and comes with a plug you can remove for easy...

We do not offer this setup as a pre-mounted combo. Then for lug nuts you could use the Kodiak lug nuts part # KALN1375S for a stainless lug nut and you'd be set.

The standard 12" wheel uses a 1/2" - 20 lug nut so you'll be looking at part # CE11051 for a standard lug nut or part # KALN1375S for a stainless steel option. I recommend going with the stainless just because it will hold up better to corrosion. If you're looking for the actual wheel bolt or stud then I can link our selection of 1/2" options for you to filter through but you're going to have to pop them out and measure them to make sure you get compatible replacements.
