Speaker 1: Today on our 2011 Ram 2500, we'll be having a look at and installing the Stromberg Carlson 4000 Series Fifth Wheel Louvered Tailgate with Lock, part number VGD-10-4000.The open design of our tailgate improves visibility and allows us to easily hook up to our gooseneck or a fifth wheel trailer in most applications without having to lower the tailgate. Now, one of my favorite things about this tailgate is how nicely it follows the contours of the body on our truck.One great feature about this tailgate is that it is lockable to help prevent tampering and theft. Once you have it locked, you can't turn the handle and you can't open the tailgate anymore. To unlock our tailgate, we simply reinsert the key, turn it back counterclockwise, twist our handle, and opens right up.Now even though our tailgate has a plastic construction and is extremely lightweight, contrary to popular belief, it can support up to 100 pounds of weight, making this ideal if we have a long load and we need to lay some lumbar down back over our tailgate in order to get it home. One is it's going to keep all your items in that you have in the bed of your truck, while still towing around your 5th-wheel trailer or gooseneck trailer and having plenty of turning space. Secondly, it's going to have a black powder coat finish and be fully welded, so it's going to prevent any kind of rust and corrosion as well as stand up against the elements. Not only that, but it's going to help with air flow and wind noise as you're driving down the road. We'll go ahead and pull out on both rings to release the tailgate and then lower it down. Once you put it up into position, we'll pull out on both those rings to release those latches, raise it up, press in, locking our tailgate in place. more

Husky Liners Tailgate Installation - 2009 Chevrolet Silverado- Video

Today on our 2009 Chevrolet Silverado, we'll be installing the Husky Liners Premium 5th Wheel Louvered Tailgate with Locking Handle, part number HL15240. As you can see, our tailgate fits very nicely on our vehicle. It has a nice, contoured look, and follows the lines of our bed nicely. Now, if we want to secure our tailgate, it is locking, so we can insert the key, turn it counter-clockwise, remove the key, and now the handle can't be opened and it'll secure our tailgate onto our vehicle to prevent theft. Now, when we want to open our tailgate again, just insert the key, turn it clockwise, remove the key. We'll pull back on the handle and lower the tailgate on down. As you can see, it'll allow us to easily tow our 5th Wheel trailer without having to worry about when we're making turns, having possible damage to our tailgate. more

Today on our 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 Quad Cab, we'll be installing the Husky Liners Premium 5th Wheel Louvered Tailgate with locking handle, part number HL15330. This tailgate's great for, if we want to tow a goose neck trailer like we have a hitch for here, or a 5th wheel trailer. It will allow us easily hook up to our trailer, still our bed secure and, as you see, anything we put in here, like our tow straps to secure a vehicle on to our car hauler or whatever we need to tie down on to our trailer, we can still have in the bed of our truck without having to worry about them coming out. The aerodynamic vents allow air to pass through smoothly and improve our fuel economy when we're driving down the road. As you can see, this tailgate follows the contours of our vehicle nicely and the silver paint on it matches the silver paint on this truck very closely. It's nice feature, you don't have to worry about getting your tailgate painted if you own a silver truck. This tailgate features a lightweight aluminum construction, which is half the weight of traditional steel tailgates. It has a multi-coat finish that offers superior rust resistance even if it's scratched and has weight capacity of 200 pounds. As you can see with the cut-out here, you'll have plenty of maneuverability to get into tight positions if you're backing up your trailer or making tight turns. You don't have to lower your tailgate every time once you are already connected, once you need to make a tight maneuver. The vents here will allow airflow to pass through, so you're going to have some increase fuel economy while towing your trailer but yet still keep your materials inside the bed. Today on our 2015 Ford F-350 Super Duty, we'll be installing the Stromberg Carlson 4000 Series 5th Wheel Louvered Tailgate with lock. Part number VG-97-4000. The great thing about this Stromberg Carlson tailgate is, when we want to hook up to our 5th wheel trailer, we can still have our tailgate up, unlike our factory tailgate where we'd have to have it lowered on down. This is great, because if we have a spare tire for our trailer in the bed of our truck, we don't have to worry about it coming out. The Stromberg Carlson tailgate fits our F-350 very nicely. Today on our 2013 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD, we'll be installing the Stromberg Carlson 4000 Series 5th Wheel Louvered Tailgate with Lock, part number VGM-07-4000. Now, we'll go hook up to a gooseneck trailer, so you can see what it's like with the tailgate there. Has a nice included lock so we can lock it in place. As you can see along this edge and this edge over here, we have a very factory-like appearance, very like our original tailgate, fits very nicely. We have these nice slats right here, so we can have air flowing through it, so we don't hurt our fuel economy quite as bad as we would with a normal tailgate in the upright position. The first thing we need to do is remove our tailgate. Now, if your tailgate has the included backup camera in it right by the handle, you'll need to unplug that first. You'll find a connection for that behind where your license plate is. more

Today on our 2008 Ford F-350 Super Duty, we're going to be taking a look at installing the Husky liners premium fifth wheel louvered tailgate with locking handle, part number, HL15130. It's got a large cut out to allow access for your fifth wheel or your gooseneck trailer, without having to let your gate down you can simply pass it across and attach it. You can see it's a nice fully welded, aluminum tailgate, weighs about half what a traditional tailgate weighs. Still uses a center style latch like your factory, and your safety cables, and it has a key so you can lock it and keep it in place, so nobody can run off with your tailgate. This tailgate really contours the body of your truck, gives it that OE appearance. It's got an E coating to help protect against rust, and scratches, but it can be painted to match your vehicle if you desire. more

In this 2016 Ram 1500, we're going to be test fitting the Stromberg Carlson 4000 Series 5th Wheel Louvered Tailgate, part number VGD-10-4000. As you can see, we already have our original tailgate removed, so we'll go ahead and jump right into it and install our new tailgate. This tailgate is pretty lightweight, but if you need another person to help you out, by all means, go get them, because this can be kind of awkward. Go ahead and start off with the driver's side end, install that onto that. Go over to the passenger's side, match it up with that notch there, like so. Make sure our straps here, we'll slide them onto the bolts up to the side here, like so. We'll do that for the other side as well. more

Stromberg Carlson Tailgate Installation - 2016 Ford F-350 VG-97-100- Video

Today on our 2016 Ford F-350, we're going to take a look at and show you how to install the Stromberg Carlson 100 Series 5th Wheel Tailgate with open design for Ford trucks, part number VG-97-100. Here's our nice benefit about the gate, we're going to have that nice low drop, allowing that gooseneck or 5th wheel to go right in without constantly opening and closing the tailgate every time we want to hook up or disconnect. It's got the open design which is going to help out a lot with visibility behind the vehicle, trying to back up to tighter spots and things like that, you'll have that open design to allow us to see through, and that open design's also going to help save us a little bit of money at the pump. While they're not pre-drilled, we do have a nice area here where if you decided to, you could drill a hole in to connect your tailgate safety cables, just have to be sure to provide your own hardware. Here you can see our spring loaded hinge, this is designed to allow our striker to sit in behind it, and then close on the front side of it. That gives us a nice, compressed fit on the rubber grommet here, keeping noise and vibration to a minimum. As you can see, when installed, you shake it around, you're not going to have that noise and that vibration that we're used to from some of the other styles of gate. If your vehicle's equipped with a backup camera, before we begin our installation, we want to look at the wire that runs right here underneath the bed, it's going to run over to the passenger side, makes a small loop, and then we'll have a connector here that looks just like that. We want to get that separated, once that's separated, we're ready to remove our tailgate. more

As you can see we're going to have a nice snug fit. You can kind of wiggle it and wobbly it and it's going to be nice and quiet. That's a big benefit to this gate, as we head down the road we're not going to have all that rattling and bouncing back behind us. You've got the nice drop here to allow for the fifth wheel, the gooseneck to go right over and make the connection with our ball in the front.
