Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer today on our 2019 Ford F-150, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the DZ tailgate assist. So without a tailgate assist, we all know how they work. You know, once you unlatch it they're going to drop down with speed unless you're steadily kind of helping it come down. Not really a huge deal in most cases. But the times when you got your hands full or it's really cold outside, something like that, you don't want this tailgate to get away from you slam down and you could potentially not only damage the tailgate but the hinges and stuff like that as well. So by adding that assist, it's really going to help slow things down and keep it safe and predictable. more

Today, our 2018 Ford F150 we're gonna be taking a look at, the DZ tailgate assist custom tailgate lowering system, part number DZ 43204. A common problem with trucks is whenever you go to open the tailgate, especially it you have something in your hands, you'll open it up and the tailgate wants to slam down and either have to let it slam or guide it down all while we're trying to hold everything in our hands.For their tailgate assist we're not gonna have to worry about holding our tailgate, we can simply open it up, it'll come down nice and slow so we don't have to worry about any damage. The shock absorber on our tailgate assist, it's gonna allow our tailgate to come down slowly so we're not gonna hurt ourselves or damage or truck but at the same time it's still gonna allow us to push our tailgate up with minimal effort.It is gonna be a custom design fit for and F150 which means we're not gonna have to cut, drill, or anything at all. It's gonna be a completely bolt on instillation. Let's show you how I do that now. It's going to have that nice big cutout so you're going to have access to your 5th wheel, as well as when you're backing up you're going to be able to see. The louver design is going to cut down wind noise and drag, possibly increase your gas mileage, and make it easier to see when you're backing up to your trailer. As you can see, this is a custom fit tailgate, and the lines of it are going to contour perfectly to the body of our truck. Today on our 2015 Ford F-350 Super Duty, we'll be installing the Stromberg Carlson 4000 Series 5th Wheel Louvered Tailgate with lock. Part number VG-97-4000. The great thing about this Stromberg Carlson tailgate is, when we want to hook up to our 5th wheel trailer, we can still have our tailgate up, unlike our factory tailgate where we'd have to have it lowered on down. This is great, because if we have a spare tire for our trailer in the bed of our truck, we don't have to worry about it coming out. The Stromberg Carlson tailgate fits our F-350 very nicely. The nice contoured edge follows the factory lines of our bed very nicely, just like our factory tailgate did. The louvers give is a sleek appearance, and let airflow pass through it. The lock is very simple to operate with the two included keys. more

It does have a nice lock, so you can lock it into the closed position, designed for one-handed operation. It uses a rotary style lock, much like the one that comes from the factory. Husky Liners Tailgate Installation - 2008 Ford F-350- Video
Today on our 2008 Ford F-350 Super Duty, we're going to be taking a look at installing the Husky liners premium fifth wheel louvered tailgate with locking handle, part number, HL15130. It's got a large cut out to allow access for your fifth wheel or your gooseneck trailer, without having to let your gate down you can simply pass it across and attach it. You can see it's a nice fully welded, aluminum tailgate, weighs about half what a traditional tailgate weighs. Still uses a center style latch like your factory, and your safety cables, and it has a key so you can lock it and keep it in place, so nobody can run off with your tailgate. This tailgate really contours the body of your truck, gives it that OE appearance. It's got an E coating to help protect against rust, and scratches, but it can be painted to match your vehicle if you desire. more

Stromberg Carlson Tailgate Installation - 2016 Ford F-350 VG-97-100- Video
Today on our 2016 Ford F-350, we're going to take a look at and show you how to install the Stromberg Carlson 100 Series 5th Wheel Tailgate with open design for Ford trucks, part number VG-97-100. Here's our nice benefit about the gate, we're going to have that nice low drop, allowing that gooseneck or 5th wheel to go right in without constantly opening and closing the tailgate every time we want to hook up or disconnect. It's got the open design which is going to help out a lot with visibility behind the vehicle, trying to back up to tighter spots and things like that, you'll have that open design to allow us to see through, and that open design's also going to help save us a little bit of money at the pump. While they're not pre-drilled, we do have a nice area here where if you decided to, you could drill a hole in to connect your tailgate safety cables, just have to be sure to provide your own hardware. Here you can see our spring loaded hinge, this is designed to allow our striker to sit in behind it, and then close on the front side of it. That gives us a nice, compressed fit on the rubber grommet here, keeping noise and vibration to a minimum. As you can see, when installed, you shake it around, you're not going to have that noise and that vibration that we're used to from some of the other styles of gate. If your vehicle's equipped with a backup camera, before we begin our installation, we want to look at the wire that runs right here underneath the bed, it's going to run over to the passenger side, makes a small loop, and then we'll have a connector here that looks just like that. We want to get that separated, once that's separated, we're ready to remove our tailgate. more

Today on our 2016 Ford F350 Super Duty we're going to take a look at and show you how to install the Husky Liners Premium 5th Wheel Louvered Tailgate with Locking Handle, part number HL15130. As you can see we're going to have a nice snug fit. You can kind of wiggle it and wobbly it and it's going to be nice and quiet. That's a big benefit to this gate, as we head down the road we're not going to have all that rattling and bouncing back behind us. You've got the nice drop here to allow for the fifth wheel, the gooseneck to go right over and make the connection with our ball in the front. Now this has the new Eco-finish on it, so it's going to be a really resilient finish. All the aluminum underneath, of course we're not going to have to worry about corrosion. more

Stromberg Carlson Tailgate Installation - 2016 Ford F-250 VG-97-100- Video
Today on our 2016 Ford F250, we are going to do a test fit on our Stromberg Carlson 100 Series Fifth Wheel Tailgate with open design for Ford trucks. Part number is VG-97-100. Of course this is the goal, so we can have that drop down that's going to allow our king pin box to go right up, we don't have to worry about lowering the tailgate or taking the tailgate off every time we want to get around town or move our trailer around. It has got a nice heavy-duty steel construction, got a black powder coat finish on it. It is going to stand up to the elements, weather and things like that to really keep it looking nice for a long time for us. It has been costumed designed so it is going to fit every curve of our truck here and give it a-- well not a factory appearance, but close to a factory fit anyway. The louvered design that we have here really helps to promote good air flow so we don't have any risks of decreasing our miles per gallon. You can see our really nice, clean lines all the way up and around, gives it a really nice appearance there. We are going to have a nice, open area here in our steel, that if we choose to we can go ahead and drill a hole in there and connect our factory safety cables, so our gate won't drop down past where we want it. Now first things first, we need to remove our existing factory tailgate. more

The fifth wheel tailgate is going to provide a really good way to get our fifth wheel or gooseneck hooked up to our truck without having to open and close the tailgate each time. This is a blow molded, glass filled polymer, so you're going to have a very strong, almost as strong as steel feel to it, while we are not going to have to worry about rust, corrosion and things like that. This is a paint able surface, as well as our adjustable end caps, fully paint able so we can match the truck if we decide to. The nice thing about the end caps here, these are going to be fully adjustable. That is going to give us that custom look, or that specifically designed look as you can see, it matches up really well with the contours of our truck and it gives it more of a factory feel or more of an original equipment feel to it. You can see the louvers, that are in the tailgate. more

Today on our 2014 Ford F-150, we're going to take a look at and show you how to install this Stromberg Carlson 100 Series Fifth Wheel Tailgate with open design. Part number is VG-04-100. Now the fifth-wheel tailgate features a nice drop-down right here in the middle, so whether we're backing in our gooseneck or our fifth wheel, we'll be able to get it connected. We're not going to have to open and close the tailgate each time. This is a nice, heavy-duty steel gate. It's got a really good feel to it. Stromberg Carlson Tailgate Installation - 2015 Ford F-350 VG-97-100- Video
Today, on a 2015 Ford F-350 Super Duty, we're going to show you the Stromberg Carlson 100 Series 5th Wheel Tailgate, Part#VG-97-100. This is what the tailgate looks like once installed on our Ford. To give you an idea of how big the opening is here in the middle for your 5th wheel or gooseneck trailer, the bottom is going to be about 15" wide and if we go to the top, it's going to be about 34" wide. Now go ahead and check out the fit. As you can see here, the rounded part of the tailgate actually matches the rounded part of the truck bed itself and also the taillight. It kind of matches it all the way down and matches up pretty nice. This tailgate's constructed from steel material with a powder-coat finish. Even though it's all welded and steel, it's actually pretty lightweight to work with. more

Today on this 2015 Ford F-350 Super Duty, we're going to show Husky Liners Premium Fifth Wheel Aluminum Tailgate. Part number HL15130. This is what the tailgate looks like when it's installed on our truck. As you can see right off the bat, it has a nice silver, or maybe light gray, finish to it. This finish actually has three layers to it so it's actually very durable against nicks and scrapes. Our tailgate is constructed entirely of aluminum except for necessary parts like the latch on the sides and, of course, the key latch. It's all welded together. more

Today, on this 2012 Ford F-350 Super Duty, we're going to show you Husky Liners Premium 5th Wheel Louvered Tailgate, part number HL15130. This is what the tailgate looks like when it's installed on our truck. Take a outward look, you can see it has a nice silver finish to it, which works with a lot of different variety of colors of trucks. We'll go ahead and check the shape of it, it actually matches the contour of the truck lines pretty well. Of course, it's a 5th wheel tailgate, so you got a nice opening for your 5th wheel to fit into. Also, it works great with the previously installed Gooseneck Hitch as well. All right, let's go ahead and check out the opening. At the minimum, it's going to be about 15 inches and its maximum is going to be about 29 inches. A couple other details, is that this is constructed from all aluminum and also with a painted finished as well. more

Today on our 2011 Ford F350 Super Duty we're going to be doing an installation of the Stromberg Carlson 100 Series 5th Wheel Tailgate with open design. Part number VG-97-100. The first step in our installation is going to be to remove the Ford's factory tailgate. Just open it up, let it come on down and we're going to be able to gain access into the two points we need to disconnect our cables. We'll take a small screwdriver and as we lift up on the tailgate we'll move that metal out of the way to where it will slide on, up and over. Then we'll make our way around to the driver side and do that same thing. You will want to support the weight of the tailgate. If you don't it's going to come down and make contact with your bumper and it's going to rest on there, and that's not something that we want. more

The first step in our installation is going to be to remove the Fords Factory tailgate. Just open it up, let it come on down and we're going to be able to gain access into the two points we need to disconnect our cables.We'll take a small screw driver and as we lift up on the tailgate, we'll move that metal out of the way toward the slide on up and over, then we'll make our way around to the driver's side and do that same thing. Now, you will want to support the weight of the tailgate. If you don't, it's going to come down and make contact and it's going to rest on there. It's not something that we want. Stromberg Carlson Tailgate Installation - 2013 Ford F-350 VG-97-4000- Video
Today on our 2013 Ford F-350 Crew Cab, we'll be installing the Stromberg Carlson 4000-series 5th-wheel louvered tailgate with lock, part number VG-97-4000. Because this particular vehicle has a backup camera, which is mounted in the tailgate, we'll need to unplug that. To unplug it, you just squeeze the tab, pull it apart, and in this particular case, as you can see here, there's an orange cap that'll go on top of the factory harness once we've unplugged the tailgate. To get the plug apart, we'll go ahead and squeeze the tab and gently pull apart. Now, we're ready to go ahead and remove the tailgate. To do this, we'll use a small flat-head screwdriver, to lift the tab up and release the safety cable or the cable holding the tailgate. Once we have that done, we'll open the tailgate just a little bit and lift up on the passenger side. When we do that, it'll lift the tailgate off of its tab. more

DeeZee Tailgate Assist Custom Lowering System Installation - 2013 Ford F-150- Video
Today in our 2013 Ford F150, well be installing the DeeZee Tailgate Assist Custom Tailgate-Lowering System for pickup trucks part number DZ43200.Lets begin by showing you how the tailgate can just simply drop when you release it. To begin with, we need to adjust the nutsert tool so that theres approximately three quarters of an inch from the washer to the head of the bolt. If you need to move it, you simply loosen the nut and screw the bolt in or out to get to the proper length and then tighten down the nut. As you can see here, weve already got our three quarter inch length set properly.Next, were going to use an M5 Allen wrench, as well as a 10-millimeter wrench to install the nutsert in the opening in the tailgate pivot point. When installing this, were going to need to turn the nut 360 degrees nine times. To make things a little bit easier, were going to take our paint marker and mark one side of the nut so that we can keep count as were turning the nut in tighter. more

Stromberg Carlson Tailgate Installation - 2004 Ford F-250- Video
Today on this 2004 Ford Pickup well be installing the Stromberg Carlson 100 Series Fifth Wheel Tailgate, part number vg-97-100. To begin our install well first need to remove the older manufacturers tailgate. To do this well open it up and bring it down three-quarters of the way leaving slack in the cables. Then we can go ahead and remove the cables. Moving over to the drivers side well need to pry back the safety clip first, then slide the connection point end into the oblong hole and then remove it from the post. Now well go ahead and remove the tailgate. more

Stromberg Carlson Tailgate Installation - 2006 Ford F-150- Video
Today on our 2006 Ford F150, well be test fitting the Stromberg Carlson 100 series fifth wheel tailgate with open design, part number VG-04-100.Now to begin our test fit, we will first start off by removing our manufacturers tailgate. Well open up the tailgate and lay it down flat. Well then move to the support straps attached to the truck bed, lift up the silver plate to allow us to bring the strap up off of the hook. We will then repeat these steps for the other side. Note that you do need to keep a hold on the tailgate as once both straps have been removed, the tailgate will not have any support.Well then put the tailgate in a 45 degree angle and lift up on the passenger side of the tailgate. Once the passenger side is free, we can then slide the tailgate to the right and allow the drivers side of the tailgate to pop out.Now with the new hardware installed on the fifth wheel tailgate, well start off by inserting the rubber bushing on the drivers side of the truck bed. more

DeeZee Tailgate Assist Installation - 2003 Ford F-250- Video
Today on our 2003 Ford F250 Super Duty we'll be installing the DeeZee Tail Gate Assist, part number DZ43203. Our first step will be opening the tail gate. Next we'll go ahead and prepare and install the nutsert. Using the nutsert and nutsert tool we'll need to set the depth. There'll be 3/4 of an inch from the face of the washer at the end of the nutsert tool. Now we've got our depth set we'll go ahead and install it into the pre-drilled hole in the tail gate near the hinge. more

Husky Liners Tailgate Installation - 2003 Ford F-250- Video
Today on our 2003 Ford F250 were going to install the Husky Truck Bed Accessory Tailgate part number HL15130. First, well need to go ahead and remove the manufacturers tailgate cables. To do this well remove the torque headed bolt and set the cables and hardware aside. Then we can go ahead and remove the tailgate by hinging the tailgate to a 45 degree angle and pulling up on the passengers side and sliding the drivers side toward the passengers side to remove the tailgate completely. Before we can install the cable onto the new tailgate well first need to remove the old hardware. To do this, well need to remove the hold down washer and spacer. more
