Gate King Adjustable Truck Bed Extender Installation - 2023 Toyota Tacoma- Video
Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today, we're taking a look and installing the Gate King Tailgate Extender on a 2023 Toyota Tacoma. And this is gonna allow you to get your tailgate in multiple different spots and that way you can really get it custom fit to whatever you have in your bed. (tailgate clicking) And the great part is, is whenever you need to close it up, (tailgate clicking) it goes back to being a normal tailgate, so let's first take a look at why you might want one. If you haul an ATV or a dirt bike in your truck, sometimes you're gonna realize that maybe the truck bed isn't long enough to account for that, or if you're doing any household projects, you got a ladder or two by fours, whatever it may be, a lot of times you're gonna have that shooting up over the tailgate, which is totally fine, but if you have a camper shell or a tonneau cover, you can run into some issues there and that's where having a little bit of adjustability from the tailgate is gonna allow for that to drop down low enough to still be able to maintain that tonneau cover. We're gonna be putting a mid-height ladder rack on here and that really could be an issue with some taller or larger things, so having that tailgate to be able to drop down to really account for that is gonna be huge. And this, again, is super helpful with those dirt bikes and ATVs, obviously this wasn't a dirt bike, but similar concept where we are kind of hanging off to where we don't have a tailgate really holding anything in place, so this can act slightly like a wheel chock in a sense, 'cause as you raise this up, you're gonna at least have some back pressure against that rear tire to really keep it all nice and tight in place. more

So, my dad bought a new pickup and he doesn't like how the tailgate just flaps down real loud. It's not good on the components. So, I told them it's kind of a no brainer to grab the DeeZee Custom Fit Tailgate Assist. So without a tailgate assist, we all know how they work. You know, once you unlatch it they're going to drop down with speed unless you're steadily kind of helping it come down. Not really a huge deal in most cases. But the times when you got your hands full or it's really cold outside, something like that, you don't want this tailgate to get away from you slam down and you could potentially not only damage the tailgate but the hinges and stuff like that as well. Gate King Adjustable Tailgate Support Bars Installation - 2019 GMC Sierra 1500- Video
Hey everyone, Shane here with etrailor.com. Today I have a 2019 GMC Sierra, and we're going to be installing Gate king's tailgate adjuster. Maybe you're like me, you use your truck for a lot of different things., For instance, carrying loads, where it sticks out past the tailgate and you have to have your tailgate down all the time, I've actually lost some loose items when carrying something like this, I've lost some loose items from the back of my truck, going down the highway. Well, there's a solution and that is the tailgate adjuster, it's going to allow you to adjust your tailgate in different positions, to help keep those items in the bed of your truck, keep you from losing them.As you can see here, this is going to work great for our longer loads, we're able to raise our tailgate up, kind of get the ladder up in the air rather than being in flat, potentially, maybe losing our ladder or anything else. This is also going to work great for your ATVs and your dirt bikes, you can use your tailgate as a wheel jump, so a lot of times when you put your dirt bike inside, the tire is going to stick out past the end of your bed just a little bit, you take your tailgate with the adjustment on it, lock it up against your back tire and it's going to keep your dirt bike from or four wheeler for that matter, from moving forward and backward in the bed of your truck while you're traveling.Another nice thing that I really like about this, as you can see with our tailgate up or ladder in place, maybe you have surf boards, are going to work basically the same way as we have our ladder here, you raised your tailgate up. Another thing that I really like about this set up is we're still able to use our tonneau cover, this being able to use our tonneau cover like this is going to help secure or better secure items up there towards the cab of that truck even with our tailgate, partially open.As I mentioned, we're going to have eight different locking positions. more

John: Hey guys, John here from etrailer.com and today we are going to be installing the gate king on our 2017 Ram 1500 pickup. To demonstrate how the gate king works let's first see what our tailgate acts like without the gate king installed. So this operation will be normal with the gate king when we push our tailgate back up in place, that's where the gate king will stop it so we can basically put pressure on anything in the back of our pickup or to hold things up in place. With just our cables here, our tailgate's going to fall down at any angle that we have it at until we put it up back in place. So the gate king's installed now so let's see how it performs compared to how our initial tailgate was working. So we can still operate it like normal down and pushing it back in placebut when we want to use the gate king, pop the pins here and now we can adjust it at different stopping points all the way, depending on what kind of cargo we have in our truck bed. more

DeeZee Tailgate Assist Lowering System Installation - 2013 Ram 2500- Video
Hey guys, it's Jake here with eTrailer. Today we're going to be taking a look at the DeeZee tailgate assist. What this is going to do is it's going to take the weight of your tailgate and slow it down and actually take the weight away from you and just allow the tailgate to slowly set down.We've all had those times when we are trying to open up the tailgate while carrying something and you can't hold the whole weight of the tailgate with one hand. Now you can see how much easier it is to open that tailgate and just let it drop and let the piston take the weight while you're still holding whatever you're holding. It's going to have a very low profile and non-invasive design, which is going to look really, really good when you close up your tailgate and you can't see it at all.When your lifting your tailgate into place it's going to have no resistance of when you're putting your tailgate back into closed position, but then when you see when you drop it it's going to take that weight and rest it easy.As you can see here, we do have a little bit of wear on the rubber coating on our cable and what will happen over time, that cable will begin to rust and if someone we're to drop your tailgate full force you could risk breaking those cables. This tailgate assist is not only going to make it easier to lower your tailgate, but it's also going to prolong the longevity of your cables on your tailgate.Now I'll go ahead and show you how to get everything installed. more

Today, our 2018 Ford F150 we're gonna be taking a look at, the DZ tailgate assist custom tailgate lowering system, part number DZ 43204. A common problem with trucks is whenever you go to open the tailgate, especially it you have something in your hands, you'll open it up and the tailgate wants to slam down and either have to let it slam or guide it down all while we're trying to hold everything in our hands.For their tailgate assist we're not gonna have to worry about holding our tailgate, we can simply open it up, it'll come down nice and slow so we don't have to worry about any damage. The shock absorber on our tailgate assist, it's gonna allow our tailgate to come down slowly so we're not gonna hurt ourselves or damage or truck but at the same time it's still gonna allow us to push our tailgate up with minimal effort.It is gonna be a custom design fit for and F150 which means we're not gonna have to cut, drill, or anything at all. As you can see it still matches the curves of the body of your vehicle. It will allow you to use a goose neck and still keep all of your cargo secure in the back of the bed of your truck. This is going to be an economical solution for someone who uses their fifth wheel all the time. This way you've got full access to your fifth wheel while your trailer's hooked up, and you don't need to worry about coming into contact with your tailgate.Now, there are releases for the latches here, so you can still open your tailgate if you need to. Pull each one individually, and it will lay down and rest on your bumper. Now, if you want, you can drill a hole and reattach your original cable. It comes with a black primed finish, which already looks great with our black truck here but can be painted to match any color truck.The large opening at the top of your tailgate is going to measure about 34 inches, and the opening at the middle of the tailgate is going to be about 14-1/4 inches. more

So here's what our Stromberg Carlson tailgate looks like whenever we have it installed. Now, it's gonna have that nice cutout, which is gonna make it a lot easier when we're towing with a 5th wheel or a gooseneck. The open design is gonna make it a lot easier for us to see what we're doing when we're backing up or hooking up to our camper. The vented design is also gonna reduce drag, which should improve your fuel mileage. Our tailgate is gonna feature a heavy-duty steel tube construction, which does have a nice black powder coat finish to compliment any truck, but it can be painted to match the color of your truck, as well. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2011 Ram 2500, we'll be having a look at and installing the Stromberg Carlson 4000 Series Fifth Wheel Louvered Tailgate with Lock, part number VGD-10-4000.The open design of our tailgate improves visibility and allows us to easily hook up to our gooseneck or a fifth wheel trailer in most applications without having to lower the tailgate. Now, one of my favorite things about this tailgate is how nicely it follows the contours of the body on our truck.One great feature about this tailgate is that it is lockable to help prevent tampering and theft. Once you have it locked, you can't turn the handle and you can't open the tailgate anymore. To unlock our tailgate, we simply reinsert the key, turn it back counterclockwise, twist our handle, and opens right up.Now even though our tailgate has a plastic construction and is extremely lightweight, contrary to popular belief, it can support up to 100 pounds of weight, making this ideal if we have a long load and we need to lay some lumbar down back over our tailgate in order to get it home. One great feature about the plastic construction of our tailgate is that being plastic we don't have to worry about it rusting over the course of time. This will last us for many years down the road with a reliable and durable finish. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2012 Ram 3500, we'll be having a look at and installing the Stromberg Carlson 4000 Series 5th Wheel Louvered Tailgate with Lock, part number: VGD-10-4000. All right, the first thing you'll notice is that our tailgate has a cutout here, which is designed for when we're towing a 5th wheel or a gooseneck trailer. We don't have to lower our tailgate in order to hook up and couple to our trailer, and most applications you should be able to hook up your 5th wheel trailer without dropping this tailgate. Our tailgate is constructed of a plastic composite, which is super lightweight, and yet very strong. This will give us many years of rust-resistant service because, being plastic, it won't rust. The great thing about this tailgate is that it follows all the contours of our bed, including our tail light, to give us a factory-like appearance.Our tailgate features a vented design, which will help reduce drag by letting the airflow pass through it, which in turn will help improve fuel economy. more

Today on our 2017 GMC Sierra 3500 we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Stromberg Carlson 100 Series Fifth Wheel Tailgate with open design, part number VGM-14-100. The one thing that's going to set this tailgate apart from others that I really like is that it is a one piece design and there's no plastic trim pieces to install. Now not only is it going to give us a better field of view when we're backing up or just driving, but it has a nice cut out and allows us to hook up our gooseneck or fifth wheel trailer that much easier. The louvered design is going to help with visibility but it's also going to cut down on wind noise and drag, which could help improve our gas mileage. The tailgate is going to follow the lines of our truck nicely and it's got a nice black powder coat finish to resist rust. The prime finish is going to allow you to paint it to match your truck. It's going to feature a nice, easy to pull latch on each side, allowing us to pull our tailgate down and as you can see, it still has that lift assist on it. more

Today on our 2017 Ford F-150, we're going to be testing fitting the Stromberg Carlson 4000 Series Fifth Wheel Louvered Tailgate with locks for Ford trucks, part number VG-15-4000. The strong and durable plastic tailgate is great for both gooseneck and fifth wheel applications. It has locking capabilities to prevent theft, and is louvered to reduce wind noise and drag while you drive. Especially this protects your OEM tailgate by replacing it for those trips with the fifth wheels and goosenecks so you don't damage it as you travel. It's going to have that nice big cutout so you're going to have access to your 5th wheel, as well as when you're backing up you're going to be able to see. As you can see, this is a custom fit tailgate, and the lines of it are going to contour perfectly to the body of our truck. Today on our 2007 Chevrolet Silverado, new body style, we'll be having a look at the Husky Liners Premium 5th Wheel Louvered Tailgate with Locking Handles, part number HL15240. It's a nice streamlined, aerodynamic look that follows all of the body lines of our truck bed nicely. It is constructed of a nice aluminum finish that won't rust or corrode over time. We have our nice cutout here for when we're towing our 5th wheel or a goose-neck trailer, we don't have to worry about having the tailgate down in order to doing tight maneuvering or backing up to it to uncouple or couple. Now this tailgate is lockable to help prevent tailgate theft. To do that, just insert your key, turn it counterclockwise and now your tailgate's locked.
