What's up everybody, Adam here with etrailer. Today we're going to be taking a look at the Curt three inch ball mount. So this is a big boy. This is for your three inch hitch receivers and it's made a forged steel so it's going to be extremely strong, getting us a gross trailer weight of 21,000 pounds and a max tongue weight of 2,800 pounds. So this is going to be able to be used in two different ways. We can have it with the drop, which is about four inches, and then we can also pull it out and flip it upside down, and that's going to be a two inch rise. more

Brophy Trailer Hitch Ball Mount Review- Video
Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Brophy Ball Mount. This is gonna be for your two-inch hitch receivers, and it is gonna have a capacity of 7,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 750 pounds of tongue weight. This is gonna give us an aggressive drop, about 10 inches, and this can only be used in no drop position. One thing about any ball mounts that has a 10-inch drop, we are going to cut the hitches capacity by a third. So my hitch right here is rated for 12,000 pounds. So with the 10-inch drop, I'm only gonna be able to haul about 8,000 pounds with the hitch receiver, which actually isn't a big deal just because the ball mount is rated for 7500 and 750. more

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Curt trailer ball mount. So this ball mount is going to have a capacity of 7,500 pounds, and that's just for the gross trailer weight, but the tongue weight on this is going to be 750 pounds. It's gonna be for your two inch hitch receiver. Make sure that you have a two inch hitch receiver, because the shank is two inches. The shank is actually hollow, so what we can do, is I would definitely suggest grabbing an anti-rattle device that goes on the inside here, and it's threaded, so you're going to need to get a hitch pin and clip anyway. So if you grab the anti-rattle system, it's going to thread in there, take out all of the play, but you're already going to need a hitch pin. more

So what's gonna set this one apart is we're gonna have two different hitch pin holes. So we're gonna have one in the further back, right there, but we're gonna have one that's a little bit closer, as well. So you can get your trailer, with that, it's gonna be about 11 1/8th of an inch from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of our ball, but if we we're to use this one, it's gonna be about 8 1/8 of an inch from the center of this hitch pin hole to the center of the ball. more

Now, this is a heavy-duty, sturdy steel ball mount, it's for 2 1/2 inch hitches, and it can be used in the drop or the rise position to fit your application. To use it in the drop position, which is shown right now, it's gonna get you a six inch drop, and that's measured from the top of the ball platform to the top of the shank. And this one, it's gonna give us a drop of four inches, or if you flip it over it's gonna give us a rise of three inches. And this is gonna be for some of the bigger balls that come with it. Today, we're gonna take a look at this Curt Class III Ball Mount with the 2 5/16 diameter hitch ball, has a six inch drop, and a 7,500 pound gross towing weight capacity. Now, this towing starter kit has everything you need to tow, just minus the hitch. This does include this black powder coated ball mount with the 2 5/16 diameter chrome plated pre-torqued hitch ball, and even includes the 5/8 inch diameter pin and clip to attach it to your hitch receiver. Now, the nice black powder coat finish on this ball mount gives you superior rust protection, the chrome plating on the hitch ball also resist corrosion, and the hitch ball comes installed onto the ball mount, and it is torqued to factory specifications. Again, the ball size diameter is 2 5/16 of inch, the ball shank diameter's one inch, and on top of the ball, it is marked 7,500 pounds gross towing weight capacity. more

Now there's gonna be a great way of giving yourself that rise, you guys are needing for your trailers. Now, one quick caveat, CURT does say this is a three inch rise, the top of here where our shank's going into our hitch opening and the underside of our plate. We also do have a pretty nice capacity here for a class 1 at about 2000 pounds, gross trailer, weight capacity, and 200 pounds tongue weight capacity, now that's pretty low, and we are working here today on a Class II hitch. more

What's up everybody Adam here with etrailer, and today we're gonna be taking a look at the Draw-Tite ball mount. So this one is not gonna come with the ball or the hitch pin, so we're gonna have to grab that as well, but this one is gonna give us a four inch drop or a three inch rise, so you have the options there. One things about this, it's extremely strong. We're gonna have a max ton weight of 2400 pounds, and a max trailer weight of 16,000 pounds, so this thing is extremely, extremely strong. It's made of forged steel, all one piece, so it isn't gonna be a hollow shank. It is pretty heavy too, so you can see the little machine, they basically take a big piece of metal and then make the machine make the shape out of it, so that's when you know it's gonna be extremely strong, and since it doesn't have a hollow shank, we will not be able to use certain types of anti-rattle devices, and what an anti-rattle device will do is it prevents that. more

When it comes to different types of trailer ball mounts, basically the only thing that really differentiates it is of course the hitch size, so make sure you have an inch and a quarter, but also the rise and drop. Now, this ball mount is what'll let you hook up your trailer to your tow vehicle. The shank portion right here is what'll slide into your vehicle's two inch by two inch hitch receiver, and right up front here, this ball platform, this'll provide the mounting point for your hitch ball. Now, the hitch ball is not included, we do sell those separately on our website. Now, the ball hole diameter that the hitch ball fits in up here is gonna be one inch, so you wanna make sure when you purchase a hitch ball that you buy a hitch ball that has a shank diameter of one inch. more

A lot of times different trailers will have different size attachments and you're having to swap the ball mounts out.
