Personal preference where you want to put it, but I like to have a few inches away from the loops here for your safety chains. I'm just going to mark my holes, and drill out the bumper. more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 1998 Ford Van

Today on our 1998 Ford Van, we're going to be installing the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller, part number 90885. In conjunction with the brake controller, we're also going to be using the Tekonsha Plug-in Wiring Adapter for electric brake controllers for Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles, part number 3035-P. In conjunction with this installation, we'll also be using a couple of other parts, one of them is an adapter 4-Pole to a 7-Pole and 4-Pole from Hopkins, part number 37185. As well as a 6 and 7-way trailer connector mounting box for round and square tube trailer hitches from Draw-Tite, part number 18159. Now due to the size of the hitch that's on this vehicle and not a good area to mount the 7 and 4-Pole, we're going to go ahead and use the 6 and 7-way trailer connector mounting box. To do this though, you'll need to get some different screws because the 7 and 4-Pole plug that we're using is a little bit wider than what the box was intended for. It comes with some self-tappers but we want to add and we ended up having to use just some screws and nuts in them to tighten it down. more
