How to Extend Tekonsha Brake Control Wiring Harness 8 Inches

Question:

How to extend it about 8 in long? Can I just use regular 5 wires and extend them?

The only way to make the Tekonsha brake controller wiring harness # 3016 longer would be to splice in some wire to the length needed. This harness has just 4 wires so you can use bonded 4-wire, # DW04923-1. It is sold in lengths of 1 foot.

I would like to move the tekonsha brake controller currently on my 2015 Toyota Highlander and install on my 2007 GMC Yukon. I look under the dash and find a harness but the plug on the brake controller doesn’t fit. Help please

From what I could find the 2007 GMC Yukon doesn't actually have a factory brake controller port under the dash. If you have the factory 7-Way all the wiring is present there, but no plug. This just means you'll need to splice in the bare wire pigtail from the Tekonsha controller to the 4 factory wires.

@ChrisR I have provided a picture of what looks like a plug but is very large. There is a 7-way plug in the rear. I contacted GMAC and with the vin # this vehicle did not come with tow package. How can I send a picture

@BarryL You can email a picture directly to me and I can definitely take a look. I wonder if you found the OBD-II port, which wouldn't be used for a brake controller.
