Adjustment Spring on Dexter 10 x 2-1/4 Brakes Makes Contact with Drum
Question:
After replacing the shoes on my dexter electric brakes, the spring under the tensioner wheel seems to be rubbing on the drum, the shoes were purchased from NAPA.

The problem could be that if the shoes are actually automotive brake shoes then they would not be a proper fit for a trailer set up. You would need the correct Dexter shoes for brake assembly # 23-26.
You would need # BP04-095.
Make sure the lower spring is under the adjustment wheel. If the brakes are not adjusted out properly or not reassembled then positioned correctly (since there is a fair degree of movement possible) that could also be why the spring is making contact with the drum.
It might be worth your while to just replace the entire brake assembly. They do not cost all that much more than the shoes and you will get all new parts if you replace the assemblies with # 23-26 for the driver side and # 23-27 for the passenger side.
