Availability of 12x3 Inch Electric Trailer Brakes for a Parker Grasshopper Grain Trailer
Question:
I have a parker grasshopper gooseneck grain trailer model number J5000 Serial number 7691098 unknown year but probably from the 75-85 year range. I have four bolt backing plates with shoes that measure 12inch x 3inch not 12 1/4 x 3 3/8inch like most of what you offer. They are all steel backing plates. The drums measure Exactly 12inch inside diameter. I am finding nothing to fit these axles. These use a 10-63 Seal if that helps. Old oil bath axles. Thank you for any information you can give on the proper brake assemblies available.

As you have found, 12 x 3 inch brake assemblies are not available. It is possible though that your drum will accept a different size. If you can measure the width of the inside of the drum (where the pads make contact with the drum) you might find that 12x2 assembly like # 23-105-09 and # 23-106-09 will fit as long as the bolt pattern has the two lower bolt holes closer together than the top 2. And these assemblies are also designed for 6K axles.
But I think that what is going to end up happening is replacement of the axle due to a lack of compatible parts. We carry some axles, linked to the right, but not all possible options. You will likely have to go to a local tractor or trailer supply store to order and axle to meet the specifications you need. The benefit is that you will get all new parts and replacement parts will be readily available.
